U.S. Marine Corps Force Recon | Swift, Silent, Deadly | 2021 (Part 1)

U.S. Marine Corps Force Recon | Swift, Silent, Deadly | 2021 (Part 1)
Force Reconnaissance (Force Recon) is one of the United States Marine Corps' special operations capable forces, and supplies essential elements of military intelligence to the command element of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, by supporting their task force commanders, and their subordinate operating units of the Fleet Marine Force. Force Recon is responsible for operating independently behind enemy lines performing unconventional special operations, in support of conventional warfare. The unit's various methods of airborne, heliborne, submarine and waterborne insertions and extractions are similar to those of the Navy SEALs, Army Green Berets, and Air Force Combat Controllers, although Force Recon's missions and tasks differ slightly with a focus on primarily supporting Marine expeditionary and amphibious operations.

We had three Marines who were going for Force Recon in jump school back in 1973. One was a Gunnery Sgt, who the Blackhats loved to harass. During Tower Week, when you were either jumping from the 34 foot tower, or sitting in the bleachers observing others jumping from the towers, a Blackhat yells down, "All Marines above the rank of E-6, HIT IT!" Upon which the Gunny jumps to his feet, assumes a nice, tight body position, and gives his 4000 count. Then the Blackhat yells down, "You know in the Army, we use Marines for pop-up targets." To which Gunny replies, while maintaining that tight body position, "That's okay. Army can't hit anything past 50 meters anyway." Blackhat responds with, "Recover", allowing Gunny to take his seat in the bleachers again. Good memories. I love the rivalry.

@@andrewjohnson719 They especially run suppressors in CQB that's the whole reason the entire Marine Corps is going suppressed. Suppressors are much more important for protecting hearing than they are for being sneaky. When you run door kicking missions all day and all night like they did in Iraq its real easy to damage your hearing when shooting in doors in close confined spaces. It's not just the noise it creates pressure changes and you can blow out an ear drum. I did PMC contactor training and we practiced shooting from inside a closed vehicle through the windshield and my partner had a muzzle break and we were so close together in the front seat when he fired it it was like getting hit in the face.

A lot of LRS guys went SF because LRS although they were conventional units and they strictly do only Surveillance and Recon they are organized and function very similar to Special Forces. My LRS Company was one of the first ones deactivated and SF showed up asking if any of us wanted to go SF and a few of us did.

@@markrubera1344 A MEU is a Marine Expeditionary Unit. Those are units that go out on Navy ships and do "floats," where they essentially patrol the oceans of the world and act as a forward force that can respond to situations that may arise around the world. And yes, MARSOC and Force Reconnaissance are two separate entities that work separately. Their mission sets are completely different even though they're both capable of a lot of the same things.

The Marines already gave up the Raiders to SOCOM in an unnecessary publicity move.
