Thanks. Good question, I usually like to block in the main proportions and facial features before moving onto blocking in some of the costume, but for this I took the head further than I normally would because I really wanted to concentrate on getting the likeness before getting distracted by the armor. I also knew that adding the armor later wasnt going to impact the sculpting I had already done. It also depends on what kind of character I'm sculpting. I hope that answers you question.

The best part is that any 3D Artist can use his or her imagination to sculpt all sorts of details directly from scratch. It is only a question of creativity and the selection or range of different brushes that we use in our 3D Sculpting Software. This is where the best results of our work come from.

Thanks Ryan. I used Dam standard and the Falloff_sharp brush. To sculpt the facial hair I roughly blocked in hair clumps then, smooth it out so I get some variation in the surface. I then go over the area with finer, more precise strokes. Layer on the strokes, without it getting too noisy and try to keep in mind the direction that the hair grows

Thanks Andrea. I have lots of ref on my 2nd monitor that I try to match. Then to check how things are going I'll either line up my sculpt with an image using the seethrough feature in zbrush or I'll take a screenshot and compare in photoshop and make a bunch of notes and adjustments and then transfer that to the zbrush sculpt. I'm not sure how long it took all up as I did it over several sessions and I didnt keep track of the time. It was quite a few hours though
