I just watched a short piece called : The Agenda with Steve Paiken. Mysteries of the Mind: Inside the mind of the pedophile. I don’t know how to copy the link. If someone can tell me I would appreciate it. In the piece he describes the differences in brain responses of male pedophiles as compared to healthy men. He says approximately 1% of the male population is predominantly pedophile but that the majority of that 1% will not go on offend. He then talks about the need to find ways to encourage these men to seek therapy to help reduce their risk of first offending. It is a fascinating piece and I would urge everyone here to check it out. He doesn’t have the all the answers but he has started the conversation. Thanks

One thing society needs to do is address females who victimize boys. Of the 3 times I was sexually assaulted as a kid, 2 times were by females and when reported nothing was done. The first time I was 7 she was about 13 was at a rec center and I was told she was just teasing me and playing. The next time was in a treatment facility when a way older female snuck in my room and did really bad things. The male staff teased me about how I should have liked it and the female staff thought nothing of it. If that were a male who did that they’d be charged with child r*pe and child molestation.

Sadly women get better treatment as sex offenders. There was a case I heard about recently with a woman who committed the most atrocious acts. She was looking at 15 years. Now it's 10 years. I doubt she'll do more then 2 if any time at all. She is currently on pretrial probation awaiting a court date. I'm guessing her lawyer will ask that she remain on probation and not have to go to prison. Yes there is a BIG inequality when it comes to sentencing female offenders. For instance a female offender on average gets less time then a man who commits the same crime. I think it's 65% less time or 65% of the the time men serve. Also female sex offenders IF they do go to prison are allowed to go to camps. Something that is denied to male sex offenders because of the public safety factor. Also in most cases female sex offenders aren't required to complete a sex offender treatment program. One thing that I would like to see changed in the coming years is for the government to stop showing favoritism towards females who commit these and other types of crimes.

When an adult gets tagged it’s a power struggle , between the victim and the perp . Very difficult to sort out . Because everyone is trying to cover their asses . Then the real sorting starts . And the victim gets evicerated because she or he may have to relive the whole experience . And that is the trauma part . So it’s a mess when the victim reports it to the police and anyone who will listen . Hey don’t forget the police who have to take these reports . A men .

As a victim of sexual assault from my kung fu teacher when I was 18 and I had already trained in his classes since the age of 12 I never knew there was a criteria for teenager offenders. It was as if he literally waited until I was 18 to groom and sexually assaulted me and the more pain he could inflict on me the more he got off on it. I finally managed to go to police fifteen years later the police believed me, action has been taken against him and I’ve now written a book on it coming out this July. I think self defence and martial arts need to teach their students more about the psychology of what can happen under freeze response as I was only ever taught to reload to fight or flight so when I was assaulted over 6 months and continually froze I couldn’t understand what happened to me. Thank you for this video I never knew about the teenager offender so again this is filling in the gaps for me as a victim so thank you.

The damage done to children is too much for us not to be extremely cautious. How to keep children who molest other children in a public school is a huge problem. Usually the child who offends against other children, has been molested. To me it seems like an infectious disease that we need to quarantine. As a teacher I saw this when I did my student teaching. Nothing was done about the problem other than to move the child to a different classroom. He still used the bathrooms freely and all one could do was hope he understands why what he did was wrong and had self control. It is a very worrisome trend to house sexual offenders near children as is being practiced in Denver.

I think you might want to add a 4th category. In this day and age, with the prevalence of porn and the hypersexualization of our society, there is a growing number of people, usually men, who are offending strictly through their phones/computers/internet connections. With the ease of 'sliding into DMs' men can easily get into trouble by losing control (due to addiction) and sending photos and videos to younger women. In Canada this is called Child Luring but it doesn't have anything to do with luring a child.

I have a background in behavioral psychology and what you need to look for is someone who does an excessive amount of maneuvering to get close to a potential victim, generally they have low ego strength and appear weak or even feminine they seem too soft but some of them get very good at hiding in plain sight so awareness is a good idea but your greatest weapon is your gut , people often make good barometers and mostly if you feel something is off or you don't get a good feeling about someone listen to that feeling and act on it .

In Australia, 1991, a sexual predator was active who had abducted young girls. The police and media called on the public to nominate a suspect and the experts gave a long list of characteristics and clues to help pick the offender. 27'000 men were named (including myself) Of these 73 were charged with an offence (not connected to the case) 73 in 27'000 works out to 1 man charged per 370 men named. So that suggests that following the guidelines of experts don't help much. A lot of people had been pointing the finger at Thomas Hamilton (Dunblane) and calling him a pedophile and pervert. I never read about a single child or parent to directly accuse him, which would seem more logical if he had done anything. But it seems the finger pointers had some baseless suspicion and acted on that. Hamilton had his life made miserable. He then went to the school and shot 16 children and the teacher dead. People should be careful not to falsely accuse someone cause there might be another Hamilton out there. And it might not be just bad luck to find a Hamilton but they might produce their own Hamilton.

I would like to suggest being very careful with file counts when dealing with pornography addicts. In the older internet days, when it was one file per link, downloaded very slowly over dial-up... a large file count can say something meaningful about a person's psychology. Today, with magnet links and the torrent network it only takes one click to start downloading hundreds or even thousands of files. And most torrent software also immediately creates a "file" as soon as a single kilobyte is downloaded, meaning that a person may have hundreds of "files" when hardly anything had actually been downloaded, and thus telling us nothing useful about the person.

Doctor, are some 'sex offenders' mentally ill, i.e., they do not know the difference between right and wrong and/or they have a break with reality. I work for a care taking agency that was hired to escort an 80 yr old offender on house arrest to the store, doctor appts, etc. He has been banned from virtually every store in town for some inappropriate act and 'the powers that be felt a chaperone would be beneficial. I have always wondered if he is aware of the right and wrong of his behavior. When were at his home i catch him literally watching television with magazines that have young women on the covers, lines them up on the couch next to him and has conversations with them as he's watching the TV. He'll explain to them what the show is about, he cavorts with these pictures as one would do with a human being cuddled up on the couch watching TV. There's no sense of self awareness even as I'm sitting watching him. Today we were/ he was banned from yet another store as i just took my eyes off him for a quick minute. I turn and caught him talking with a very young female employee. Moments later we were approached by store security and asked not to come back as apparently he had done 'something.' In the car i was furiously scolding him as i was humiliated being associated with his act in the store. Yet it seemed there was no sense of shame or self awareness on his part....as if nothing ever happened. I believe home arrest or even going back to prison is not the answer for him...i believe he needs to be in a locked down psychiatric facility. But then I'm just a lay person hired to escort him.

A lot is written about the damage done to children who were abused. But the damage done to the falsely accused can be just as devastating. In Australia, 1991, a sexual predator was active who had abducted young girls. The police and media called on the public to nominate a suspect. 27'000 men were named (including myself) Of these 73 were charged with an offence (not connected to the case) 73 in 27'000 works out to 1 man charged per 370 men named. Few people understand or care about the problems it will cause for the falsely accused. But it can backfire. People had been calling Thomas Hamilton a pedophile and pervert which made his life miserable. After that he went to the Dunblane school and shot 16 children and the teacher dead. People should be careful not to falsely accuse a man for there may be another Thomas Hamilton out there. And it may not be just by luck to find a Thomas Hamilton but a case of producing another Hamilton. If people wished to read my story about how false accusations impacted my life, google innuendo test blog.

I was molested for years first groomed at like 3-4 years old, and it just went on till I was 16ish. And bc of the grooming and molesting it made everyone believe that I was just a quiet child, and believe lies of the offenders from any root they could grab from if I lied about not doing my chores or something like a kid would normal kid, they would blow it out of proportion, so anytime I actually spoke up about the real abuse they could turn around to everyone who've they have manipulated to believe that I was just a "liar" and a "bad kid" and no one believed me for all those years, i have my own children now and i xan say no amount of therapy helps, and i can definitely feel the energy of evil when it comes around, I know what to look for in people and I know how to protect my kids and tell them to protect themselves, what's good and bad touch, as you've mentioned. I don't think I'll have a relationship again until my kids are grown bc having anyone in my home while my kids are here, I can't sleep, I don't leave them in rooms with relatives or boyfriends ever, all this abuse has made me completely hypo sexual and anti social. What I want to know is how come other people don't believe you when you speak up? Or want to protect a child who has said any sort of allegation along the lines of abuse, or when a predator is confronted bc I have he was a family member, why am I still to blame, and "crazy and a liar" Especially when I break it down to them piece by price and noticable behavior after behavior with the same family member they're still believing him over me, maybe I think they don't want to break up a family or disown a sibling, but isn't that a little more crazy then believing a predator over a victim. I've been back n forth with disowning my entire family because of this, but then I am left with maybe they just don't truly understand the signs and psychologically around it, and so I stay but never would I ever leave my children around any of them for that matter. If you understand my question, is it just that do they not understand or do they not want to understand or believe, what do you think?

Please make a video about female offenders and a video about grooming, these became trending topics lately and I think there are some misunderstandings, i.e. it is a crime if a young female teacher has sex with an 18 year old student because of the roles but outside a educational institution technically is legal and most likely she doesn’t have the mindset of a predator or groomer. Another case that has a lot of public interest is the marriage between British Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson who met in the filming of a movie she directed when she was 42 and he was turning 18, after the production they started dating, he already 18 proposed to her, a year later had a child and afterwards married. Thousands of people think she groomed him and abused him just because of the ages, without any proofs, even repeat the unproven accusation that she met him while he was a little child. They have been married for more than ten years. In my opinion fans are just shocked because he is good looking, famous, in a stable relationship with an older not conventionally attractive woman, openly showing her respect and love and is some unprecedented behavior in Hollywood. Would love to hear your thoughts.

@Megan Mocaby its very true. i believe that as you age things like this have less influence. and it also depends on your home situation when you are a child. people who cant imagine this sort of thing happening are either in denial. or have a good relationship with their children. its important to keep children supervised. they act out and repeat what they see and hear. you could even have the conversation with them. but they are kids. they may forget a day later. and you dont want your kids registering for life because they grew up in a home that never mentioned it was wrong and the child saw something in media that influenced them

@Megan Mocaby i think this is exactly right. and the only solution to this influence is adulthood or talking to your kids. and i certainly dont mean the way the schools now intend to inform them. im talking about being honest. an saying. this is how the world is. if you do these things. i could lose you for years. and you may have your life ruined. in 20 years you may barely remember why. but registering and getting fired may be a normal part of your life. parents that try to protect their kids like this always seem overbearing. but there are like 70+ different actions that can make you an SO and if you are a child, it is you vs. the state. and if you live in a way that most children in this situation do, you will have a court appointed attorney that will push the charge through for the DA for a high rate. no evidence. just i caught this two children in the closet and they give the male a lifetime of punishment. and the female therapy. im not sure what happens to the parents though. my aunt was a DA so i know a good chunk about this stuff. but cant remember if it was common for the parents to get neglect. if i recall most of them had warrants or got caught with drugs when the house was raided. like months after the reported incident.

I just recently watched a youtube video where 2 women talk about being sexually abused by nuns. (the 2 women and their cases were not connected but in the same video) The relationship with the nuns was when the women were in their teens and early adult. All that was said to have happened was hugging, sometimes sharing a bed on a trip or staying at a house and a kiss that may have only been on the cheek. Anyway, many years after contact with the nuns, the women were having mental issues but neither connected it to their contact with the nuns. The women sought professional help. Sometimes,I think, stress, anxiety, trauma can develop for no reason at all. But the expert set out to find a cause and told the women that the contact with the nuns was actually sex and that was what was causing the problems. Both women thought that was crazy but after time they believed the expert and became sex abuse victims.

@@sb1663 If the contact with the nuns went past the hugging and kiss then the women would have mentioned it because they had an axe to grind. It seems the psychologist was a thought police and blamed the nuns for thinking about sex during the hugging. Just because a psychologist has a piece of paper saying they are an expert don't mean anything. In Australia, 1991, a sexual predator was active who had abducted a young girl (Karmein Chan) The police contacted a crime psychologist to list the characteristics of the offender and called on the public to use those clues to nominate a suspect. It was also pointed out that the offender may not fit that profile as they did not want the offender to slip the net. 27'000 men were named. Of these 73 were charged with an offence (not connected to the case) 73 in 27'000 works out to 1 man charged per 370 men named. So it seems the police wasted their money paying for a psychologist.

If you want to know more, you should be able to look up the tiers in your state book of criminal codes

where do men that want to have sex with babies fit? do they all have torture and murder as part of their psychopathy? Where do siblings that touch and denigrate fit? with psychological and physical abuse as well. I didn't know about the babies until recently and it should be punishable by death in my opinion. Learning about trauma, multiplicity and ACE scoring. I would be interested in your thought process or anyone elses.

Age of Consent Laws were enacted before the modern day psychological reasoning behind them existed. The global ages for sexual consent range from 9 years old to 21 years old suggesting an arbitrary nature to their enactment as opposed to a moral one. If an activity is consensual and with a (naturally) sexually aware person then this is a moral activity that can't be rehabilitated, the undesired behavior can only be curtailed through fear of incarceration. However, the idea of rehabilitating a person for natural biological human desires is ridiculous. It's along the same lines as curing gay people.

Thank you for this! I found out that a family member had sexually abused two of his young daughters and then years later i found out he had abused another daughter when she was young and his stepsister when she was young and he was a teenager. It was difficult for me to understand how he could be married and attracted to women yet by his actions and 4 known victims he seems like he would be a preferential pedophile, non-exclusive, because all of his victims were about 3-6 at the time when he molested them, which included o.c. I don't think treatment would work on him because he seems to be a serial offender who definitely should never be around prepubescent girls again...

Ok , sir , um I want you to look at sex offending for the offenders point of view . Ok? That’s not really possible unless you’ve been there . We (sex offenders) know that this behavior is an emotional subject , from the innocents point of view , and society at large . MOST sex offenders don’t mean any harm . But there are the ones who do mean to do harm . And to figure out which is which , you must be in their heads . That means living with them . I suggest going in undercover . For longer than just a few weeks . Then the real threat can be discovered . I suggest six months and your charge can be for a sex offence (fake) to get the trust of the deceivers . The one thing you can do is sit back , and observe until you’re called on in group , but be aware the other offenders are going to shoot holes in your story as they do to the others . You will discover a lot . Believe me .

I would like to know about sexuality and sex offending. What about asexual sex offenders? They don't have sexual attraction to anyone, but some still have sex. How does sex drive lead to offending, would a person with low libido become a serial sex offender? Where we are in london (and loads of other places round the world) there are lot of men exposing themselves to women joggers and runners in parks. Is this a power thing and to they actually think they they will never get caught? How much narcissism is there in men exposing themselves? Is there a risk factor, hey I am going to get away with it type thing going on? Women also expose themselves but perhaps do it in a different way and how do they do it, is it sexual power or a form of abuse? I don't hear of women stalking other men or women in parks doing this, but they may expose themselves if they are arguing with someone. I have heard of men exposing themselves and then later on raping and killing women? So exposing themselves could be a warning sign that they could go on across another boundary to rape etc I find it interesting how some sex offenders have a responsible and successful job only to lose everything just for a few minutes of a sexual kick.

No, a psychologist does not have to believe pedophiles can be rehabilitated or cured. In fact, in my opinion (and if you look at the research) the prognosis for treatment of a diagnosed pedophile is not great. With certain types, prognosis is quite poor and they continue to pose a risk. So, with the high risk types, maybe locking them up longer and having more intensive supervision in the community is the answer. Thanks for your question!

For government to exploit emotions by instrumentalizing the combination of children and sex to trigger irrational thinking of the mass to bring them to their favor/agenda etc. The sheep who express their strong and draconic opinions for their crave for recognition. Not violent but not of age of consent.. the parents turned him in. If it was a one time offense and he was young. Could he have a family and get permission to be a father daily for his son on the way.. 14 years after the crime. Would he be deemed low risk by the court. He has no other trouble he has been in

Have you talked to an attorney? I can't imagine any court having the jurisdiction in this type of case to prevent such a man from being a father to future children. His nonviolent crime happened 14 years in his past. He evidently was found guilty for his crime and finished his sentence. As long as he is not on probation, there shouldn't be a problem.

Not all you hear is true about child molesters. One time is enough in prison. After release, after therapy, my daughter asked me if I would babysit her two 10 and 11 year Olds because she mad to go to a office meeting. I thought what do I do with two active children? So since I regretted what I did years ago, I, like most S.O.'s started going to church in prison, but not just go, but took it seriously. So, I told the grandkids, let's learn the 10 Commandments. Within less than a half hour, they were reciting them front ward and back ward, and learned why they were put on 2 tablets and not one. Later, they went home a was teaching their friends something that probably no one reading this who claim and good Christians can't even do.

Or acts involving multiple partners of one gender or another. They organize these materials so that they can quickly access their current interest When they return to view it later.
