Tyler Kolek Breaks Marquette's Assist Record

Спорт

In their second matchup against DePaul University on February 21st, Tyler Kolek set the new program record for assists in one game with 18. The most impressive part about it, was that he got his last assist with 8:31 left in the second half.
In this video, we breakdown what reads went into Tyler having his historic night. Kolek is, no doubt, an phenomenal passer of the basketball, but he also has an extremely high iQ, and sees the game exceptionally well.

Nothing satisfies me more in basketball than the facilitator. Whether it's Stockton, Rondo or Djokovic. The unselfishness on a team is contagious and players will work harder on offense knowing that they'll be rewarded for that work. On the other hand I've seen ball babies destroy what would otherwise be a good or even great team by only passing when it's an emergency.

The art of passing. We need that more in the NBA. Hoping my suns drafts and keeps him! He looks to be special player. At least will be solid role playing point guard but who knows. Whoever gets hun I hope they end up starting him and playing him a lot

I’m disappointed you didn’t show what would have been assist 19 on the following possession when Tyler passed between his legs on a fast break to a trailing Kam Jones who just missed an open 3. The crowd was starting to explode with the shot in the air and everyone was shocked it didn’t go in.

I see a lot of young PG's at least in Europe struggle to make good reads out of PNR situations. They also struggle to make any kind of reads, attacking closeouts, one more pass, weakside skip etc..

I am in Serbia, which must be very surprising for you. I am assistant coach currently in small town in Eastern Part of Serbia. In our south/east region of Serbia, basketball is not equally developed as in some other parts such as Belgrade or West/North Serbia. I hope this will change but its very hard currently.

In my opinion, those are the most important reads/concepts to understand as a PG or combo guard. My hope is this channel can be a teaching tool for players and coaches to get better in those exact areas. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I think this is a little misleading. Reads in Europe are much different due to the defense not having lane violations. A few European players in the NBA have already said it's easier to score here than in Europe.

23-24 DePaul is in the conversation for worst power conference team ever. Marq has to play all Big East teams twice every year and this was just an all time bad DePaul year.
