Sina Rde you never know if someone is for sure out of it.. sadness, depression, anxiety are things that usually stay with you forever or you make them a part of yourself. If they come to you, you're never gonna be the same person.. Maybe that happened to Tyler too.

Mermaid Mariela yeah but i mean he isn't *that* depressed anymore, and in this old songs of him it seems that he also was suicidal.. i think it's still a part of him, but you can see in several interviews and speeches he is way more confident and happier than a few years ago :)

he puts an upbeat melody over the rap which i think is a metaphor for him. like he says, people think he's happy but they don't understand. you have to listen to him to understand what he's trying to say to them, he's basically sending out a cry for help, and i think that's what he was trying to do. and the melody represents the feelings and thoughts he's hiding from everyone

people look at him and think that he will life his life, so perfectly but what they don't know is that he want's to die just imagining his parents listening to this the first time... i'm not crying, you are!

Yep I'm an atheist and I love Tyler's religious songs. One thing I like about twenty one pilots is that you can interpret the lyrics however you want. Like Trees, Tyler is talking about god but I see it as someone with anxiety etc.

When "I want to be with you" layers over "he wants to die" it sounds like "I want to die" and I feel like it was Tyler's way of saying that within the words he tells people, the things he truly feel are revealed.

I love that in the first course the sad lyrics are covered with not-so-sad words and a happy melody. It makes me think being sad but covering it with a smile.

I follow science but i think religion is a great thing, it helps people with hard times and picks them up. These songs are examples that religion can bring people together. :)

two suicide attempts. resuscitated both times. So many years of pain and nobody understands. Finding this song, this artist and hearing his music...knowing theres someone out there who gets me. I guess Im not alone. I thank this music and God that i'm still here to see another day. The bad ones and the good...Dont give up. And if youre someone out there who thinks mental illness is just all in youre head, you're wrong. You don't have to understand but at least dont hurt them.

this song captures the isolation that comes with adolescent depression. its really heartbreaking and it hits me really hard.

I think that the thing I love most about this song is that it’s not metaphorical like all the other songs. Tyler’s saying “this is it, right in front of you, not hidden by a metaphor or simile, just right there.” Even his voice sounds as if he’s stating something.

When I listen to his old songs, I get so much hope! Now, I'm sorry if I'm taking this too much from a Christian perspective (sorry if this part may annoy you, I don't mean to force you to be a Christian or something), but I think that in his darkest times when he sang this album, he usually talked to God and asked him to help him (again, I'm not sure if this, I'm just saying what I think. No one exactly knows what his songs mean). Then he met Jenna and Josh and then there was the clique, so I think he became happier. He might still have a depressed part in him, but I think God helped through a lot of things. I just want to see him happy because his music made me happy! Again, I apologize if I'm making you read Christian stuff, if you don't like this please just scroll down instead of replying with hate. I think most of us who listen to this can relate to it, so we're a bit depressed too. No need to hate on anyone because that might just make it worse (I'm talking in general).
