Hmm 🤔 Do we really care about Lizzo quiting. She cries wolf All the time. She's an attention seeker and I believe this time is no different. Thanks so Much for promoting TyLA and Ayrr Starr. And though most times I don't agree with you, I agree with you on Chloe going Pop, she started losing herself trying to please the African Americans by going Urban she should have stayed zone of DO IT and HAVE MERCY.

You say that Tyla saying she wants to be on RiRi's level and surpass her is too ambitious but they doubted and laughed at RiRi too when she first started out but look where's she at. There's nothing wrong with saying you want to reach a certain person's level of success and even surpass them. There's a quote that Michael Jackson said that he himself accomplished by surpassing James Brown, his inspiration, that I will forver live by that strongly pertains to this situation: "Study the greats and become greater."

South African way of life is diffferent from even Nigerian way of life. Or Congolese having Koffi Olomide or Papa Wembe in terms of wide spread success to refer to when you say you want to strive worldwide . What you have to understand about South Africa though is the traditional music is a different lane from amapiano, and hip hop. That stuff only really started in the 2000s and amapiano is new so although there are people she may want to collaborate with in SA and adores they won’t be her immediate inspirations because I’m sure they were just 2 years ago but now fam she’s the artist with the Grammy you know what I mean? . South Africa is a place of innovation the way you succeeed is creating your own path. There is not kappa alpha phi in SA there is not always someone who did it before and succeeded to this hightened scale, ready to show you how. maybe in business, biology, sports or even medicine but not entertainment outside of deep traditional music. Tyla is very very Americanized so it makes perfect sense she is inspired by Rihanna actually. Many children growing up in SA in the 2000/ are because of the amazing work our creatives did to show us r&b and hiphopb from the states. Our radio stations were sooo diverse and honestly more elaborate and fun then candian radio stations now . Our tv shows like Trace tv we’re all revolves around people like Akon, p-square, Rihanna, Beyoncé , usher, ne-yo . So for those who really took that stuff in , our favs are American thenn you get Zahara, black coffee, Shekinah, and other South African artists

I am probably gonna get a lot of flack for this. But I think that Tyla is a TikTok girly. And whether anybody agrees with this or not, the biggest thing that makes most TikTok celebrities is their looks and sex appeal. You can even in the side-by-side in this video Tyla does a lot of that. it might just be also be a generations type of thing but I think that Rihanna wasn't JUST "I'm a pretty girl" (although everyone else kind of placed that on her). It was the marketing of her as a "Femme Fatale" archetype which took a long time to refine that lane but also fit her personality really well. I won't say that Tyla doesn't remind me of Rihanna when she first started out. She is going to need a team behind her a to make sure she's not just this one note "look how pretty I am" marketing thats happening.

Y’all so negative. Let’s not play like Rihanna was the whole package when she came out. Most people didn’t think she could sing but she had a unique look, sound, and great management team. Same thing for Beyoncé but she used that criticism to become the best. Y’all want to hate on this girl for having big dreams? Why do something if your not trying to surpass the Greats that came before you?

I want to see a darker skinned female entertainer be on the same level as Rihanna and Beyoncé or surpass them. That would really be opening doors, especially for black women. Edit: Literally all of our top black female artists of today (and for the past decade) have all had the same light bright complexion. Part of the reason they were able to get their foot in the door is because their complexion is very similar to a white woman’s complexion. Having a darker skinned female artist being on such a large caliber would literally open doors for all types of black women, including those of any shade. Only having light skinned women as the top entertainers consistently like what’s been going on doesn’t open the doors for anyone but the black women that look like them. And let’s be real, a major part of why they’re on top and get so much support is bcus people don’t associate their skin color with black. They’re super light skinned so it’s easy to look at them and consider them something else. We live in a world that despise black people, black women especially, so the less black a woman looks the more successful they’ll be in that type of industry

Girl, nobody who is willing to jump through the hoops to get to stardom off one mediocre hit song needs protection. It's an evil industry and there is nothing innocent about pop stars. Only the people with talent you will never hear of or who never becomes famous or who you see start coming up and then fall off are those who regected the evilness. I clearly understand now why my parents never let me pursue Hollywood and discouraged me from listening to modern-day secular music as crazy as they seemed. We (or I because I can't speak for the people who love it all) need protection from their garbage.

For example, Rihanna’s debut album was all music from her roots too but it didn’t perform well outside of “Pon de replay”, so on the 2nd album she rebranded and started making music for American tastes and that decision got Riri her first no.1. I fear her US label would put those same pressures on Tyla if her debut album doesn’t perform how they want it to.

It seems that people frequently try to label new artists as the "next" version of already established artists, such as Ariana being compared to Mariah Carey, Chloe to Beyoncé, and Tyla to Rihanna. This phenomenon often arises due to similarities in style, voice, or image. Sometimes, it's a marketing tactic to capitalize on the success and recognition of established names. However, it can come across as forced or inappropriate, particularly to fans of the original artists.

Right. Chloe has the whole package but she is forcing a sexual image and just comes extremely cringy. She doesn't see the gift that she has that a lot of other female artists are lacking these days and that's powerful vocals. She should be on Adele's level. If only she moved in the right direction and stopped trying to sell her body before her talent.
