I think TWSBI will sell a lot of the Swipe model. The spring converter looks a lot of fun and the nib performs very well, in my opinion. I like the clip, it looks quite modern. It will appeal to many people I'm sure.

Thanks very much for another great video, the spring in the converter looks like it may add extra time when cleaning out the pen.

I agree with you that essentially this is a GO with a clip. I have a Prussian Blue on order. I'm keen to see how the sprung cartridge works as TWSBI are selling those refills in boxes of 10. I've ordered a Stub nib.

I think the idea behind the spring was to help break surface tension. I'm a fan. Great review!!

It's actually a #4 nib. The same as the Eco and Go.

Aloha Alan! Thanks for your thorough review of this pen - for sure one of the top pens for 2021, in any price category? I know you mentioned that it was nice to see a clip (versus no clip on the TWSBI GO), but it's so tight against the cap barrel and stiff, I can't see it functional at all? As for the spring converter, I love it (just like I love the GO) as it's super easy to clean, but I am noticing ink being trapped at the very bottom (closest to the nib.) Since the spring has a tight spiral at each end, ink is getting trapped even if I pull the converter and flush with a syringe. Grip section feels just a bit narrower than the GO, but that is going just by feel and the type of plastic is contributing to a difference in feel which may be influencing the size? So far that is my feels from using the pen. BTW, I was a bit surprised you went with a fine nib! Although with my experience with many TWSBI GO's and Eco's, the difference in (F) and (M) to be very negligible. Mahalo, Thomas

I have had 3 TWSBI a 540, a 580 and a vac 700 original all 3 cracked, I had several parts replaced by there excellent customer service but damm it got to a point I got tired of waiting for parts. Never again tho they do look tempting.

Jim N: I have 12 TWSBI pens collected over 7 yrs. So far not one of them has cracked. I have heard of cracking issues on Fountain Pen Network. and I've often wondered why that has not been my experience. I just recently received the Swipe and finding it a nice pen for journaling. I hope my Swipe holds up like the others.

How long before the spring rusts?

My assumption is the spring is aluminum so it won't rust but could corrode. It boggles my mind that they didn't place the spring around the plunger arm. 🤔

I appreciate that I may be in a minority but this pen does not appeal to me at all. It seems to be an attempt to cram many options into the design. Time will tell how the complexity works out. Thanks for the review.

All fountain pen collectors are tempted by different things about a FP. It is often said we FP collectors and/or connoisseurs can be very picky. It really is a matter of personal taste, and what about a design that appeals to us. I was thinking the design efforts applied to the Swipe came as a result of some of the suggestions/complaints of those who had purchased the TWSBI Go.

@@HJKelley47 thanks...I just got a Prussian Swipe without seeing a review. Now that I am seeing the GO BESIDE IT...I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT A go...find it ugly to see the spring visually. I have many of the ORIGINAL TWISBI'S from when they were first released...2012? The mini...the 540 and the vac 700...which was huge...#6 nib and a vacuum filled plunger style filling mechanism...it is amazing that they keep re-inventing the wheel...and now even have their own inks...AND...PROPRIETARY cartridges...way to go Twisbi! I love this SKY BLUE...wondered if they had this colour in a pack of cartridges ...togo with my Prussian Swipe...would looknnice!
