Twotrees laser TTS-55 and adding limit switches

I purchased a Twotrees TTS-55 laser to add engravings to my projects. I do need to say that I purchased this laser with my own money, it was not given to me by Twotrees 3D. I also added limits switches to the laser. After assembling the laser and adding limit switches I feel that this laser is a good small format engraver for hobby projects. I look forward to many projects with this laser.

Quick tip: if you flip your motherboard upside down on the front you will have the clearance to center longer pieces under the frame.

Great video. Do you know how to install switches on the other 2 ends? as a protection to not grind the motors in case it tries to run off the limits? than you.

I think you would connect the wires in with the X and Y axis. Front X with the back X and then the same with the Y. I would probably test it out by pushing the limit switch while it is moving, just to make sure it's working.

Nice video, just need to confirm the orientation of the wires 😁 so based on the video, its red(voltage) on top, black (ground) in the middle then green (signal) at the bottom? Thanks!

Thanks, I should have done a better job at explaining the wiring, Yes that's right red, black and green in that order. If you use the same limit switches I used, the one end of the wire is already set up the way the other end needs to be, I hope that helps.

I just received one ( my first ) and it’s a huge learning curve for me , I’m not sure if I like Lightburn or GBRN better ? But mine has the air assist that does make a difference in cutting . I’m not sure if making it larger is better but I deal with small engravings on leather and ceramics and aluminum.

Yes, it is a big learning curve but I am finding it is fun to learn new thing to on it. I've been playing around with the Norton white tile painted black technique, I'm getting some awesome results. I have a air assist on it's way, with Christmas discounts and coupon codes, I couldn't resist. I also did go bigger with the foot print, it is nice to be able to do larger project but it's a lot harder to store it when I'm not using it.

Gbrl is basically just for sending the gcode to the laser. Lightburn has a huge amount of features for design and editing your engraving or cut. It may cost £40 but it's well worth it.

Question about limit switches, I have several on my laser but didn’t know how the actually work. Is the laser head supposed to physically hit it? Or is there a sensor on the limit switch that senses when the laserhead comes near it? I ask because my laser head Rams in the mind sometimes and wants to keep on going and I have to shut the machine off quickly.

If your using the same kind of limit switch that I use, then the laser head will physically touch the little lever of the limit switch. Away to test each limit switch is to put the laser head in the meddle of the work area, then on the computer click the home button , while its moving physically push the limit switch levers to make sure they are working.
