These people have serious mental problems to have that many children is Insane ,and then think you have the parenting skills to deal with them correctly, when clearly you don't is A indicator you need help. Prison is For punishment and rehab, but at that Age rehab is not likely. They will probably die in prison which may be Best for them. Their not getting another life.

Sigh..... this story really hits home for me.. All I've ever had since I was 5 and after my dad died was my 5 siblings. My mom did the same thing except for physically abusing us. She left that to her boyfriend. So many times we almost died... My mom wouldn't buy food or things for us. I had to eat butter bc I was hungry. I was only 6 or 7 years old. We often starved and my mom's boyfriend would abuse all of us including my mom. Eventually we all slept in one room together excluding my mom. Although at times we would have to hide her from her boyfriend. God... watching this makes me think that me and my siblings would be living like that right now had the police not come check in on us.. One of my aunts called finally. The police saw that no adult was present, food was not present, and the house was filthy and smelled. My family relatives and neighbors all knew what was happening but did nothing until I guess they felt it was time. I see my family in this video.... It's heart breaking.... I hate seeing this happen to other children. I'm 21 years old now and I'm trying to battle my PTSD and lead a normal life.

Yes, your honor, I never intended to harm my children by beating, caging, chaining, and starving my children. Right. Yeah. How could anyone see that as harmful? That's not a man; that's a monster that truly thinks he's done nothing wrong. Also, let's talk about how their eldest daughter spent 29 years as a captive of her parents; 7 years longer than her parents will spend in prison.

Jordan is incredible and such a brave and smart young woman despite the abuse and trauma her gross parents put her through. She was only 17 with older siblings yet she was the one to save all 12 of them and placed those monsters in prison for a very long time all on her own. She is beyond courageous.

Guys, there are still people down in the comments saying that you can't heal or move on unless you forgive, but that's such a toxic belief that there's a growing number of people like myself that are trying to make it known that you do not HAVE TO forgive anyone. That it's perfectly okay to say "I don't forgive you", but still forget and move on. No one is owed your forgiveness, and no one gets to decide whether you give it or not besides you, and if they try to tell you otherwise, tell them in no uncertain terms that they need to take several steps back into their own lane. I had a shitty childhood full of adults that would continue to hurt me well into my adulthood, and it got to the point where I had to ask myself what these "family members" even did for this relationship. And because they were unwilling to change they weren't deserving of my forgiveness, or a place in my life. I can't forgive them, I took the time I needed to mourn the loss of a close relationship with them that I always wanted but never had. They don't deserve my forgiveness, and this next chapter of my life I've moved on to has been so much better with me going no contact with them and moving on better than ever.

I used to think, oh my mom was doing her best with what she knew. Now that I’m a parent I truly believe abuse is a choice. I could NEVER do that to my own child! I could never harm them. Hearing these stories makes my heart break that these children deserved more. They deserved loving home. They deserved safety and a real childhood. How can someone chain up a child and hear them cry without it breaking their heart? Those parents deserve death.

They were controlling, my father controlled my mother in little ways everyday. They would argue and just get right in each others face. I remember at probably like 4/5, my first memory was my father having my mom jacked up against the wall. However, they were not like these 2 people. They are not parents. My parents gave me a clean home, a wonderful property, a great education and I had a full scholarship for college. They were abusive mentally and emotionally. But NEVER conditions like that. Ever. We raised German Shepherd's. Breed and trained them since I was 8 yrs old. The dogs kennels were sweeped out daily, water bowls bleached out monthy. Refilled daily and rinsed out. Feed anywhere between 1 to 3 feedings a day. Depending on age. I am so glad they got away but medically..all those kids are not where they should be. California laws need to get back to being severe for those who murder and torture another human being. So ALL THE KIDS DIDN'T DIE..SO..?? That doesn't matter when they where abused so harshly and neighbors did see things. The 1 teacher for God's sake saw it. Let’s not confuse their trauma reaction, for “raising themselves up astoundingly”, they survived and I hope they get out of this abuse cycle via therapy and counseling and cut all ties with their abusers and captors. One daughter of the 13 siblings, who wanted her parent’s sentence to be shorter actually said it got worse after the death of her mom’s parents and this “mother’s” sister said in another interview that their mom(so the grandmother of these kids) basically pimped out her daughters(aka the mother-Christine turpins) to her grandfather. Basically the abuse cycle just repeated itself here in a different way. I hope it stops with this generation.

Sounds like they’re dead. I heard some of them got into foster care where the foster parents abused them and others are homeless now. Also that thing with the money is true I believe.

@@koala4jenny oh sorry you could misunderstand that. Sounds like they’re dead was referring to the last part of the comment where the person said: I’m glad they’re all in better places now. The rest of my comment is what I heard in podcasts and read online.

Surely neighbours never seeing the kids would have raised concerns

Why did the neighbor seeing the kids marching in the middle of the night not call at least child abuse hotline anonymously? People HAVE to get involved when it’s children or elderly! Please people!

I would have. And I'm not afraid of letting it be known it was me who did it. Several pre and early teen kids came to my house once with a 45 caliber semi automatic pistol. They found it in the local playground. When the police picked it up from me, they asked, "why did they bring it to you?" I told them it's because they trust me, and feel safe around me. The look on his face said it all. I AM one of the good guys.

There's something to be said about the bravery from that 17 year old girl who made that 911 call. Leaving her home and having almost no idea where she stood at the moment of the call. She must've been terribly frightened, but she selflessly persisted keeping her siblings the priority in her mind. It's beyond commendable.

The pain of the abuse and seeing others abused was greater then the risk of going outside and asking for help. At least hopefully some of those kids will come out with a conscious and empathy that their parents so lacked - but to say they will be able to ever live 'normal' lives is another thing.
