Four other inmates came to witness the scene as Nassar screamed prompting the correctional officers of the facility to perform life-saving measures on Nassar. One out of every 9 girls in the U.S. have experienced sexual abuse at the hands of an adult. So it's actually incredibly likely that you know someone who has been abused like this. It's also incredibly likely that this judge has a loved one who was the victim of sexual abuse. My mother was molested by several family members. My older sister was molested by a babysitter. My partner was molested when he was a child. I was groomed when I was a young teen by a man who was a decade older than me. A lot of people know what it is like to feel helpless to protect the people they love from predators. It is not at all an uncommon feeling. I can understand the perspective of the father and why he lost his composure, but I am still proud of him for admitting that it was the wrong thing to do.

No wonder he reacted the way he did! 😭 And of course, she wasn’t holding him in contempt. Judge Cunningham was probably thinking about not only this whole case, but Margraves’s three girls who were victims. 🥺 They’ve been through enough and she knew giving their dad a hefty fine or jail time, keeping him away from his girls when they need him most, wasn’t gonna do anyone any good! ❤️

In a more ridiculous question how can a time traveler obtain a green card despite not originating from any country of a contemporary time? If you don’t care than that’s exactly my point. You choose not to care. And it points further the argument why undocumented immigrants must be protected because they must be given a way to become documented, if they wish to stay in the US on legal terms. This was dealt with VERY gracefully. The dad clearly acted in a split second, and it was clearly a knee-jerk reaction. He had a chance to calm down and the judge lectured him very firmly but was still clearly understanding of the dad's intentions. This wasn't dragged on for a long time, only just a few minutes for the dad to realize his actions and give a heartfelt and sincere apology. He didn't apologize directly to Larry, because Larry didn't deserve an apology. But the court did deserve an apology, which the father did a great job on.

JJX5 S5 the only defensible positions are no death penalty ever and death penalty only in matters of absolute certainty. So that's fine that you think that. The original comment equated it to assault and battery but those are crimes and the death penalty, legally applied, is not. It's a false equivalence. I happen to disagree that the death penalty is never justified but then I've known people who have been killed and people who have lost children to malicious violence rather than negligence or accident, and so I'm approaching it from a particular point of view. Which is that what goes around comes around and at a certain point you forfeit your right to be around anymore. Serial rapists, murderers in cold blood, child molesters etc. I just don't think it's sensible to act like we should take care of these people, they should be gotten rid of, but only if we know for sure and so generally speaking I think we probably shouldn't do it anymore either until such a system of proper application is hammered out but I'm not going to make too much noise about it.

His intent was to garner the support and sympathy from the viewers for obviously a cowardly attempted attack on the doctor, *knowing* that he would be prevented. They put dudes like Larry in isolation for protective reasons. Even in prison, inmates have a code and one of them is zero tolerance for child molesters and child rapists. While convicts are by no means saints, there are those who know that kind of activity is beyond low and despicable.

When he arrived in the Fed Prison in Arizona after sentencing, they put him in general pop. The inmates almost immediately attacked him, giving him a lengthy stay in the prison hospital. He has since been transferred to the Fed Prison in Florida. He lives in lockdown. 23 hours a day he is in his cell. Alone. Not even guards speak with him. He gets out for 1 hour a day to walk a fenced in square... Also alone. There are many things I would like to have seen him go thru. But him existing like this until his death will have to do.

"My heart goes out to the father, I’m glad he apologized" As if, facing a stiff contempt of court sentence, he had a real choice about deciding to apologize. The victims had to face the cheery cynicism of the judge, and her sugary speech: There's no way Larry Nassar will ever be released. That's beyond the judge's power to guarantee. For example, any future MI governor could give a full pardon to Nassar, and he walks.
