Hong Zeng Actually yes that would. Many inmates are actually loving husbands and fathers to little girls who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (i.e. drug bust or robbery). But make no mistake about it, they HATE child abusers and sexual assaulters. Those are considered the lowest of the low behind bars and prison guards actually have to keep them in protective custody for their own safety. I suggest you do a little research before uttering such a statement.

She went for his soul... deservingly. She didn’t leave a person out. She is definitely a bold...strong woman...and not a victim. God bless her for standing up.

I support Aly in making a strong confident impact statement. However, in general, I think that impact statements should only be addressed to the court, just as witnesses are restricted to addressing the court, and not the defendant. In my opinion, an impact statement should be just that: how the victim/victim's family have been impacted. It's about court procedure.

They had the courage to stand up to a sociopath with all the power in the world and took him down with just their words. Luke Williams obviously she is protected by the officers, but keep in mind how brave what she’s doing is. Being sexually abused especially at a young age especially by someone in a power position, is something you never truly get over. I’m sure that for her and the other survivors that what they went through has changed them for life. After what they went through I’m sure that they had trust issues, and it’s probably something that still haunts them every day. Going up and facing someone who abused you and proving that they don’t hold power anymore? If that’s not badass I don’t know what is.

There were points in her speech where she sounded like an inarticulate valley girl-my guess, those instances were a true reflection of her actual intelligence. I don't justify at all what this creep did to these women but she came across as immature many times during this speech- which made me want to tune her out all together. It's like she was trying to win a damn Oscar.. it didn't feel or come across as genuine at all- rehearsed is more like it.

As a survivor, I totally felt her anger and pain regarding the other organizations/adults not believing their complaints. It truly hurts almost as much as the assailant’s despicable actions. Every time you have to repeat the abuse, it’s like living it all over again. When you add being denied by those in authority, it’s feels like getting kicked in the stomach while drowning.

Denial, repression, and sheer force of will, I’d imagine. It’s amazing what a mind can do to protect itself in these situations. I was sexually assaulted aged 3 (nearly 4). I didn’t fully remember what happened to me until I was in therapy in my early 20s. I even thought my recollections might have been some awful nightmare, so I checked with my Mum and Dad. Sure it enough - it happened. I told me sister, who told them, and they ‘dealt with it’. The abuser was also a minor (though older than me) so although they confronted his parents, nothing was done legally. It turns out he had likely been abused by a teacher at his school who was exposed as being a prolific paedophile - which is probably where he learned the behaviour from. There was a big scandal locally at the time when the teacher was arrested and charged. I hope that man will die in prison. They consulted a psychologist, and on her advice kept me away from that boy for the rest of my childhood, but it was never mentioned again. My brain forgot for nearly 20 years, but my body remembered.

Paul Costa the two aren't mutually exclusive. They all said all along that it felt uncomfortable and weird but he brainwashed them to believe that it was part of a legitimate medical protocol. I don't think it was even known then that others had made allegations against him before. Otherwise it might have been clearer to these girls what he was actually doing to them.

I dont know anything about that, but if that's true, that man sounds like a dramatic, narcissistic fucking asshole. His daughters life is the one that was damaged directly, not his. If he was truly sorry to his daughter, he would either try to work to mend their relationship and be as supportive as possible moving forward, or accept that she doesn't want him in her life and he can live and cope with the shame. To kill yourself is to instill a trauma on your child usually even worse than them being molested. The daughter would forever associate her dad's death as being caused by her being molested.

This was so powerful I cried. My daughter is in junior Olympics with USAG with high hopes of going far. But when/if she is at the elite level and asked to join a nat'l training center away from home, I'm moving to that city with her and will be present at every doctor's appt. I won't let my daughter go through what these brave women encountered. Not a chance. I don't know why their parents dismissed the issue when the reports were being shared. I can't imagine not believing my daughter.
