Really enjoyed your video. There's a nice vibe with the calmness of your voice, the gentle music and drier in the background lol. Love Bob Ross! Thank you. You're a great teacher.

Thank you for your kindness-sharing your knowledge. CLEAR and precise instructions and STUNNING work.
Thank you. I just started learning to bead today, but brought my work home. This is very helpful.
Amazing! Thank you for the tip about the outward in. As a kid I noticed that happened to a few of my projects and I had to start over. I use one needle which sometimes gets pulled to firmly. Beautiful work!!!!
Love your bead work
Omg thank you so much for your videos!! I cannot bead but LOVE seeing how much work and love goes into such work. Makes me appreciate beaded work Even More!!!!❤💗💙💚
I love the fact that I’m not the only one who can’t leave a small area open, I will do the same, find the smallest bead and lay it sideways. I personally say to myself, “you are your worst critic”, Also, after I’m done with the project, I will use rubber cement to tack onto my buckskin, it’s so much easier to work with and won’t bend your needles, if you happen to get it close to the edge. Thanks for showing! Each day is a new day to learn something new. Many blessings.

What a craft! It’s so beautiful 🌸 As I designed and am trying to “fill in” my first little beaded bird I am all the more appeciative of your and other peoples work. Super grateful you and others are so generously teaching ❤️ By now I figured I can’t (yet) draw freehand but have to get a grasp/feel or measuring tape to work out how many rows of beads fit into a feather, the eye, the head. Your flowers are so beautiful!
Your beadwork is absolutely stunning! I love all things shiny!!

Just gorgeous....I understand how you feel about the one needle method, I learned the 2 needle method as a child and that is my preference...I find that it is easier to control and a lot faster.
been missing the rez lately, it was so nice to bead along side you.

Beautiful Work!!! Thank you bunches for your patient & complete info teaching. I would love to see how you attach a finished beaded piece to clothing. I would like to add something special to dresses for my granddaughters & have no idea if I should use something besides the felt so it's more "flexible". Your work is splendid & super clean!! I try to do clean work w/ my hand embroidery. Not always successful LOL. Thank you in advance & Many Blessings!!!
Thank You for Sharing your techniques! I started a headband for my daughter and drew out her other work. This is my first time beading and it's coming out NICE! I too am learning how to make moccasins. Blessings!

I love the part when you said you would see your daughter dancing out there and see the one little hole that you could have just filled in omg dead
The paper I used to bead on was just something I had handy. It parchment paper, I used it because I could trace on it. I've used graph paper, regular paper before. I don't draw directly on the felt because it seems to leave larger stains and sometime you can see the pen marks through the beadwork. Sometimes I even color the paper to match the beads.

Hello, I'm watching you work with great interest. Where you speak of stacking and clean lines, I realized that beads are like tiny mosaic pieces because you can follow the lines how the pieces were aligned in ancient Roman mosaics too!

Good comparison. And they are glass too.
Hi Mona, Thank you for sharing your tutorials with us. I have always wanted to do beadwork but I never had any family to show me how. Now with KZread I am able to learn. My problem is the design work, I want to be respectful of designs. I know it's rude to use somebody's or some tribal design that is not public. I love these designs and would love to make them myself. I know that there is contemporary designs now that are not tribal. So my question is, how to design traditional pieces without being disrespectful? I am also curious to know how you finished the back of the braid holder? Do you use leather to tie it on? Can you make a tutorial about that? With help from people like you I may finally become a beader, Thank You!
@monac.8890

Patricia Cheney Your welcome. I used leather for the backing and then used a Barrett blank I got from hobby lobby. After I added leather backing and finished the edging, I glued the Barrett blank down on top of leather then sewed it down going through the beadwork but being careful to keep stitches between rows of beads. It hold up pretty good. As for the designs it's good you are being respectful and there are many designs that can be used. Pintrest is a good resource for designs. And really anything you want to bead, the sky's the limit. Happy beading.

We are in Las Vegas now bc of work in 09, we had to come here. It's strange to be in a big city, and not find what you need. I guess we can go to Moapa Valley and they can help use find the things that we need to start!
Mona C, your videos are wonderful!! Your peaceful spirit and energy radiates out through your voice. I am having issues with my needles becoming bent very quickly. I am able to use them but I’m wondering why mine are always C-shaped and in all of the beading videos I watch online, their needles are straight...yours included. I am using #11 and/or #12 beading needles. Do yours become bent? I am looking forward to seeing your upcoming video on the lazy stitch on leather and also your upcoming video on making moccasins! 🙂I know that you are busy and really do appreciate that you take time to create these videos for us! Thank you so much!

Aura Wright Thank you for watching😍🌸🌹 I'm wondering if your gripping your needle to hard. Maybe lessen the pressure when your tacking? My needles do get bent eventually, and especially when I'm going through a thicker material. I go to the extent of making sure there is no Oil on my fingers, no lotion also. And then rub my beading fingers on my beeswax to get them kinda tack and will grip the needle without as much pressure. I hope this helps. And yes I'm super excited to make another video. 😁 Happy beading 🙌🙌

Hey Mona, thank you so much for your tutorials. My grandmother taught me beadwork growing up, and she passed 13 years ago. I let go of this craft for a long time and didn't yet master my dexterity and the ability to do applique work, edging or finishing my pieces on leather. Your videos are so helpful, along with your commentary and your way of putting things... It really helps me learn in an environment that's soothing and nurturing much like the beading sessions I had with my grandmother. I do have a question.. When outlining the initial image, how exactly do you keep the thread from tangling and getting criss-crossed in the back? I am trying my hand at applique and find it hard to follow the outline without the back of the piece looking all wonky and tangled. Do you just skip to the nearest line? Or are there times where you might backtrace over previous lines to prevent it from getting too crazy? I don't know how else to word it.
Absolutely love and completely understand your way of beading!!! Did you do a moccasin tutorial?
Oh my gosh I want to try this

love your work, and your teachings, where would it be possible to find this pattern if i can, for my own work. looks perfect.! thankyou for sharing.
nice!
This has been one of the best videos, if not the best in showing all the elements of two needle beading. I think the pace, the language and the clear video/angle has really helped with the content you share. Im curious tho. With this style, on a larger piece, say one you will stitch onto a purse or something is too large to hold in your hand like the example. How do you get the right grasp that allows you to get good tension of the beads and thread? Ive seen some people use hoops or other frames that help stabilize the perimeter but it doesnt work if the whole piece if beaded. Like, how would you use this method when doing large areas for regalia and such? How would you stabilize or weight the piece down when your (lead thread) hand cant read the beads?

You have to place on a table and stitch from the top..Jamie Okuma has good videos showing that way
I was asked and made a round badge item for a person. I kinda did it the way you are doing it but I used stiff pelon and the one bead method. I drew the pattern on the pelon and then followed it. have you tried pelon and which one is better to use?
My current beading project, which is my first embroidery type beading, has the issue of concavity that you spoke of. I used one needle for the first part. I'm going to fill il now using the two needle method. Tricks for recognizing tension issues?
Absolutely gorgeous work. Where do you buy those beads from? I can't find any that shiny.
I think neatness would be a word that could work in place of cleanness.
Mona, I am so enjoying your tutorial videos! I am new to beading and am fascinated by the beauty and relaxation that comes with this art form. Thank you so much! I'll leave a question if I may - when you mention "colouring in your colours so you don't see any white (of the stabilizer)" - what do you colour the white with? Another bead? Thread? Thank you!
