Thank you for teaching me this! I didn't have any aunties or grandmothers to teach me. You're my beading auntie now. :)

My grandma passed away when I was young so thank you for this 🥺💙 I’m teaching myself my indigenous roots
So happy I found this. I'm too shy to ask anyone in my community to teach me and I'd really like to learn and maybe teach my daughter.

That is wondeful. I was very fortunate to learn from grandmother but j did pick up a lot of knowledge from others beadeders along the way. Don't be afraid to reach out. We all need help. I hope your beading endeavors go well.

Mona I wanted to give you a tip I got from another beader. Cut the felt corners rounded and the thread has nothing to snag onto. 😀 Happy Beading!

i just started today and this is the one thing that annoyed me most.
Thank you so much for going into so much of the basis of knowledge of "Native beadwork" that a lot of us didn't receive. I've been looking for so long for someone to demonstrate all the steps so plain and simple from start to finish. Thanks!

My beadwork has never look so uniform. Thanks so much for making this tutorial!
I’m a young native girl and I wanna start learning how to bead. Thanks
Six years later and your gracious sharing of this beautiful art is still teaching people. Hai Hai
Bless the Aunty I needed in my life today
He Mona! My father was an indian boarding school kid and made sure we were estranged by our tribe. As an adult I don't know many people in my tribe yet, so this video has helped sooo much. Wanishi-ta!

Thank you ! I found out I was half native and I'm trying to learn more about my culture so thank you so much!!!!
Thank you for posting this! I’m Métis and so much of my culture has been buried over the years. I don’t have anyone in my family to teach me this. You’re amazing! Thank you for keeping resources for our culture going! ❤️
Thank you for the video! I am taking beading this quarter for a college class and as a snowstorm hit my area I went into the snowy ditch and took hours to get out. I missed half of my beading class which is only a 5 week class from 9-2:00 pm. My elder teaching the class was just like, "pick your design, stitch the design on this, pick some beads, and start beading" I barely finished stitching my design on when she was like, "yep, we're done early for today" I didn't want to ask her what to do next and I asked my hubby's mom (Kootenai elder) but couldn't quite imagine what she was explaining. You showed exactly how she explained it so thank you so much. I am a Coeur 'd'Alene native living in Montana. However, I grew up in foster care and group homes. I learned how to bead when I was very young but today it's a bit rusty on me. I'm so glad to finally be getting back into it so I can one day teach my daughter and sons.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I clicked on this on a whim because I was having a really rotten night and now not only do I feel better, but I'm thinking about taking up beading! I really appreciate you passing on the traditional knowledge. My family definitely thought beadwork was too feminine to teach me!
Thank you for teaching me to do this. My great-grandmother died before she could pass this tradition on to any family members. Now that I can, I'm doing my best to learn 😊
Mona, in case no one else says this...THANK YOU! Thank you for taking the time to share your talent with potential "beaders"!! I used a loom many years ago and created a necklace I was SO proud of...it only took me TWO YEARS!! But I was busy being a wife and mom, but I'll tell you something many will find hard to believe, it was SO relaxing to sit and string those beads and watch as my design unfolded and grew into a real piece of artwork! Instead of wearing it I decided to frame it for my middle son, but unfortunately the glass broke in transit and my son didn't get around to replacing it... I've been trying to get it back from his ex-wife...actually his ex-now-widowed-wife. She claims she can't find it, but I'm guessing she just doesn't even want to look for it. Anyway, I sure wanted to make sure his daughter got it as a gift from her daddy and her grandmother. Wish me luck...maybe the "Higher Being" will bless me and I'll somehow get it back...some day. Anyway...thank you again! Rubicon3
I may have to watch this over and over but I wanted to bead on fabric/felt and this has shown me a beginning! Thank you so much!
I was curious how bead work was done. I'm a white guy in the Northwest Territories, I absolutely appreciate the work that goes into native craftsmanship, beading, weaving, tufting. Mashi Cho
You made it so easy to understand! Thank you so much for posting! I’m wanting to head my graduation cap and prom earrings this year :)
Thanks so much for your beginner video. I’m learning how to bead by watching videos. I don’t live by my family so I have no one to teach me but have always wants to learn.

Thank you. We weren't taught, we had this taken away... We get to teach our daughters now, thanks to you.

Hands downthe best beading video I've seen!
First of all thank you! Ive been watching videos on youtube in order to start my beading journey and I just seen that rounding the edges of the felt, helps the thread not to get caught. Just a lil tip to save some time and energy lol thanks again!

Thank you so much!!! I did a little bit of bead work in high school and some peyote beading but trying to reteach myself. It use to be more for relaxation for me 😂...sometimes. The dryer going and the chimes reminds me of my aunts just homey and relaxing. Thank you so much.
Thank for for teaching this. I'm very new to this and super excited to create some amazing pieces.
Thank you, Mona. You are an excellent teacher. And your work is beautiful.
I do living history and I've been wanting to learn beading for a long time and this was such a great video. Thank you so much!
I do hope you continue on these series in how to do edging, how to end in edging in earrings or medallions...etc. series in how to bead a medallion and working in how to put designs in one’s projects. You are an excellent teacher in these series, especially taking it slow and camera closeness in beading. Thank you so much!

Thank you!! I know you posted this a few years ago, but I recently purchased this really cool leather purse. I wanted to bead the edges. This is sooo helpful!!
Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to do some beadwork for a while now. It’s been on my bucket list. :)
This was such a great tutorial!! You’re a real life saver 💗 never got to learn from my grandma before she passed away so this really helps me out a lot!
Wonderful. I was using regular felt ..sewing 1 thread and tacking as I go along. This is wonderful 😊 ty
Nice, thank you. I am one of those newbies 😂. I needed to see this. Thanks again
Very helpful hints I will try this on my quilts.thank you.
Thank you for showing me this. I live far away from home from mom and aunties now so I am greatful to you for your time and talents.
I want to thank you for your language. I and my eldest daughter love beadwork. But we are Russian and English is a foreign language for us. Thus I know how to do may things but I had no idea how to speak about it in English. And it's great that you describe all your actions and tools! I've learnt a great deal from you. By the way, I'm an English teacher; that's why it's important for me. Thanks again. 🤗
This was extremely helpful, I appreciate you sharing your craft

Thank you, I like your style of teaching. It is explained and shown very clearly. Love your beading! I had tried to do this many years ago, but finally did not continue. But, I do other types of beaded jewelry. I am from NM . I am a pueblo native.
Great tutorial! Seedbeed are great, and TINY; but with patience can make some really cool stuff!
Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge in such a straightforward way🧡❤ I am hoping to connect more with my roots by learning. My family has lost the history of our bloodline on Turtle Island, but I do know that I am indigenous even if trauma or racism through the years has made my bloodline forget. It takes some bravery but my heart is calling me back to it... thank you for helping me and others to have more knowledge to reconnect in this way.❤ Blessings to you
Thank you for this tutorial...I'm a visional learner....easy peezy!
Cool!! I like to start beading earrings 💞 Thank you!
