People flat out unmasking Streamlabs over the last two weeks. It's been *amazing* .

I'm surprised people didn't know SLOBS and OBS were different and weren't collaborated. Please support the original developers!

Man, first time in a long, LONG while that I respect Twitter.

I think the other issue people had with streamlabs is people who donate through them were auto subbed to their premium service or something like that...

SLOBS is just like an actual slob at this point.. Thankfully I have been using OBS, and only OBS for as long as I can remember starting to record and stream gaming footage for my friends..

Always used Streamelements, and now I have more reason to do so.

Ive always known its seperate software, but streamlabs is more user-friendly IMO the namesteal was obvious, but i can see why people are pissed

Stopped using SLOBS about a year ago because it used up more CPU on a PC that was very bottlenecked by CPU Upgraded PC and still stayed with OBS for the plugins, but now this drama has cemented that decision

i use obs for recording, but i use streamlabs to stream... kinda glad that i stream rarely cuz if i dont stream, i dont use streamlabs. but when i go back to streaming, I'll definitely try to use lightstream

I believe SLOBS is also a fork of OBS. A fork is when someone takes the source code of another program and changes it. This is not necessarily bad, the licence that OBS uses for it's code specifically allows for it for god sakes, but it's mostly intended for individual users to be able to make a version of OBS (or any other software) that has a few features that isn't in the official build, and share it online, not for corporations to be able to save money by not having to write the majority of the code for a product. Most corporations pay for a license to use the code, even if its under a GPL (the license OBS uses) or an MIT licence (an alternative to the GPL) just because they will avoid bad PR, and because it's standard practice to pay to licence code if you're a corporation.

I just finished listening to the Oreo and Flamenco’s debate about Pokimane, and this is a perfect example of why people believe she’s dishonest. The way she states she’s going to continue using their services until her alternative is sorted, but feels the need to publicly distance herself from said company so she can have her cake and eat it too. That’s the kind of sociopathic behaviour people were taking exception to when she made that tweet. The problem with her is that she’s so on top of her optics game, that when you call her out for it, you become public enemy number one, and your sponsors get hit, your video gets claimed, or your entire internet presence is deleted. It just keeps escalating.

i do think steamlabs is scummy but no shit they made a feature to steam from your console or let you manage your steam from your phone its good idea's. you cant make a feature and say no one else can use it.

I think that the best way now is to boycott amd switch to OBS anyways. It's much more reliable, stable thanks to open source, and it's available on Windows, Linux and MacOS also thanks to open source, as well as other OS'es if available. Also to be honest, i think that ST looks like any other piece of proprietary software with micro transactions
