if you read the books you would understand that they are not werewolves, they are shapeshifters that can only turn into wolves. This is a power this indigenous tribe has had for hundreds of years and the reason they hate the cullens is because their culture was nearly destroyed by vampires hundreds of years before they encountered the cullens. The proximity to vampires is what triggers the curse/power of transformation in the people of the tribe. You'll learn more if you keep watching the movies.

now that we know garrick enjoys "forgetting sarah marshal" so much this is a formal petition for them to watch it for this podcast please please this is my ultimate guilty pleasure movie I'm begging you

I need someone to mention to them the actual Twilight timeline. Because in the first book it is the course of like 6 weeks from the time Edward and Bella starts speaking to each other / hanging out to her ending up in the hospital in Phoenix. The entire series takes place over 2 years and he's gone for 7 months of that and then doesn't speak to her for November to April of the time she first moves to forks. So they were literally in a relationship for less than a year total. And I feel like when you point that out it just makes the plot that much funnier.

Pretty sure she's said that before. I think it's because they're all but married at this point. I don't think they've actually had the wedding yet. I've experienced this before, where people call someone's fiancee their wife, or fiance their husband.

Ok but Jacob had to leave because he couldn’t tell the pack’s secret or put Bella in danger.. if you’ve read Midnight Sun then we find out that Edward planned to leave Bella pretty much as soon as he’d dealt with James in the first book/movie.. and Jacob‘s pack are shape shifters NOT werewolves exactly

I think it’s called “New Moon” because Bella and Edward break up in this book. This breakup was the “darkest chapter of Bella’s life” and a New Moon is the darkest phase of the moon. 🤮🤮🤮

They actually clarify in the books (Breaking Dawn I believe) that the Quileutes (Jacob's tribe) are not technically werewolves in the traditional sense, but shapeshifters. There are "real" werewolves in Europe that the Volturi know and are trying to accuse the Quileutes are being.

It is CRIMINAL that you didn’t mention the iconic movie theatre scene with Mike and Jacob.

I think remembering that Stephenie Myers is Mormon and that she brought in a LOT of her beliefs in her creation of both vampires & “werewolves” in that. Like a lot of the vegetarian vampires and the whole transformation her body undergoes when turning into a vampire aligns with how they believe their soul changes and what their physical form is when they’re in their little god city.

I feel compelled to let y’all know, that in one of the last books it’s revealed that they’re not actually werewolves, but hereditary shapeshifters... The real nocturnal werewolves in the twilight universe are apparently much scarier and classic.

I said it once, and I'll say it every single time... You make Mondays better by a 100%. I mean, Zack and Kelsey freaking out over Garret? Garret loving animation?? You guys are everything that is right with the world.

In the books it is explained that Jacob's tribe have members who are shapeshifters who just so happen to turn into wolves but are on fact not werewolves. While actual werewolves do exist in the book but we never meet/see them. It is briefly mentioned that other vampires had encountered them before. Yes, that is dumb, but it is the actual lore of the book. I love the books and movies though, despite their rough clunky aspects.

i think that the most insane thing about new moon & bella and edward’s breakup is that at the time, they had been broken up for longer than they had been together. they hadn’t even been together for a YEAR when they got married, and had baby retinol. so the idea that 18 year old bella was wasting away FOR 6 MONTHS due to a heartbreak induced depression over a five month relationship was insane to me. even more so when i think about the fact that i had a very similar experience at 18 (minus the 50 meter dogs & vegetarian vampires, ofc) both of which i find incredibly laughable as a 19 year old. like i’d LIVE for another twilight movie where bella is mentally 19 or 20 years old and just suddenly looks around at her 2-going-on-28 year old daughter, and her 100+ old husband and just loses her mind at how UNHINGED she’d been at 18. like she probably could’ve gone to college and found a perfectly normal, non-emotionally abusive partner that didn’t spend a majority of their relationship reminding her that his natural instinct is to drink her blood like a 7/11 slushy. would’ve made a much better allegory on the depth of teenage emotions and how being a teenager is as terrifying as it is fucking hysterical.

I agree with kelsey on Zach being influenced by Maggie to wear crocs. My brother started loving crocs right after his gf became a nurse lol

The January break will give me time to watch the movies I havent seen so I can watch their corresponding pod episodes 😅 Enjoy the break!

Im pretty sure it’s called New Moon bc that’s the darkest period of the moon cycle and Edward leaving is the darkest part of Bella’s life. All the titles relate to the moon cycle and life and the stories happening in the books

The Podcast Black Check got the director Chris Weitz to do a very honesty commentary of this film on their Patreon and he really goes in depth on how much control and input the studio had especially on the script and that he had little room to actually direct so he tried his best to make it unique on a style level.

@@Bunny-ks1md from my knowledge they chose the form of the wolf specifically to fight against vampires. But they are not affected by the cycles of the moon like a werewolf would be. They can change at will, which makes them shapeshifters.
