One thing I love about TØP is the mystery about the songs it's like Tyler doesn't just go out and tell you what the lyrics mean or what they should mean. It gives you the opportunity to make the lyrics mean what you think they should mean in your life. Their music helps so many people through tough times and I think that's the main reason bc no matter what you are going through you can relate whether you are going through depression, anxiety, or anything like that it will help you in some way I know it helped me. Fairly Local is pretty overused too. I personally hate Stressed Out for what is it, and the only TOP song with a music video that I like is Tear In My Heart. TOP songs should NOT have music videos, in my opinion.

I HAVE THE FINAL THEORY. THE THEORY TO END ALL THEORIES. Trap Door is about an executioner feeling remorse for his killings. He puts on a black mask at the beginning of a day (like olden executioners did to hide their identities from the public). He uses a name from a grave, and every time he visits the cemetery he sees his own name on a grave. At night he hates all that he's done, and himself for doing it. "Everyone gather around for a show, watch as this man disappears as we know". It's a hanging. In hangings the accused is put into a noose and stood over a closed trapdoor. The trapdoor is opened and he falls through, choking to death. Hangings were held publicly and people would amass in the place where the hangings occurred to watch criminals die. But the singer is the one who's letting them fall. That's why it's the chorus, why it happens three times. He puts on the balaclava so nobody knows it's him. He wonders if God exists (thinks that faith might be dead) and his own thoughts are killing him (Nothing kills a man faster than his own head). He can't sleep at night because he agonizes over his killings (He used to see dreams at night, but now he's just watching the backs of his eyes). He thinks his own life is a waste because all it does is end others. It's possible that the last chorus refers to himself finally dying because of his actions.

Why is no one talking about how Tyler is screaming for most of the song? I know Tyler's voice is kinda raspy, but it's especially raspy in this song. It's like he's desperate for anyone to know he's not okay, to the point of screaming at the top of his lungs.

I would say that it definitley is him. He speaks in third person for most of the song, but notice that he says "Take me out. Finish this waste of a life." In that line he seems to slip into first person, revealing that he is actually talking about himself. There is other evidence as well. Like "He puts on a mask that will alter his face." Of course this had figurative meaning, but Tyler joeseph also puts on a literal mask at his shows and in a lot of his music videos.

I actually almost cried reading that

I had drepression too, and it's was very deeply, I just listened heavy metal, I used drugs(seed, cocain) and only staying thinking about the deads, in iddition I had of hate. But not now I'm freedom, everthing that I done was belives that Jesus is the God's son, and I gave my life and my pain for him and he changed my life, the religions lie, but Jesus is real, he don't comes to speak about theses religions that the men talk about. God's sent him for that could speak to us about love and freedom, so the cursed religious killed him, but he delived himself for make a sacrifice for us becase he love us, he continues loving us, don't matter what the hell we have done, because he know how is to be a rejected, and hated for everybody, but he was strong till he die, and now he want so much help us, give us cheer, freedom from guilty, give us peace and wash us up. Hold on man, He loves you so much, I love too mate, I'll pray for you, Jesus alive for relesed for this scrap of life

Maybe you're one of those guys that wanna look cool by hating on their new songs. I don't see anything wrong with liking Stressed Out. Everyone has their own taste in music. Even Tyler himself said that he loves and so proud of that song.

Its so refreshing and consoling and conforting when you listen to tøp and no Phun intended . These things hit so very close to home and you realize your not alone in feeling these things

I went to one of the concerts about 2 months ago and when tyler said "i love you too" at the concert i was freaking out, that made my freaking life

I don't even know how to explain how this makes me feel. The only thing I know, it's that when I'm listening to this, I just want to sing as hard as I can, shout while I want to cry. This is really amazing though, amazing.

A classic and underrated asf song😍 The bass is so glorious and the song overall (which I can relate to...) is amazing

The first minute about the "Mask and the name on the grave" just really is relatable to me.
