@@angelasmith2506 Just ignore them. No contact, no online forms. It just tells them that the address is lived in of you do that Even if you go online and sign a no license needed form. They may still send a goon to your house to confirm you're not watching TV, do not let them in and do NOT speak with them. I've had tonnes of letters but no Goon visits in my 7months at my license free household.

. . . I haven't had a t.v in over 15 years , moved several times in the intervening years and always updated by way of reply to letters to ' The Occupier '. Since moving to opposite end of the same village last June , I updated once again by post . . . and have received a letter a month since last August - ?... Letters that include nominated dates for ' visits ' etc., no one arrives . I post them back in A4 size envelopes with other junk mail therein - and NO postage . I believe it costs them about £2 each time as way of Post Office charges . So , folks , don't waste those wasteful letters - do the same and imagine the major 'aggro' it would soon become for and to them, if we all treat them in the same way as they continue to abuse the Great British Public .

Many thanks for these . I have received their latest hate mail and am threatened with a visit from 21st May - today in fact . They have more chance of making contact with life on Mars than with me.

We’ve been waiting for a visit after lots of letters. My husband was ready. He followed your instruction. The guy asked his name and my hubbie asked who he was. TV licensing. So husband said No thank you. Closed the door. We don’t have sky anymore and don’t watch live tv. We no longer get the free licence and won’t pay one weeks state pension for a licence on principle. Hubbie is over 80.

Both did the right thing. Personally I would have done the latter but then I haven't got the doorbell video which I will no longer hesitate to do now. Thanks again Chilli.

Kudos to you Chilli for empowering the Great British public with your vids. BBC needs defunded asap, we should not be held accountable for their unwillingness to move forward like other channels have to in an age of subscriptions and adverts to prop up a channel, the draconian measures they impose should be brought before the monopolies commission as NO other broadcaster is able to fund themselves by threatening legal action on us, this just gives them an unfair advantage over other channels. Every country have public broadcaster that doesn't air commercials (like in US, but PBS stick to news and education). Public channels in others countries receive direct funding"grants" from the government and they raise further money through commercials . But BBC want to have it both ways. They don't want direct funding (use shakedown scheme instead), and they want to look like a commercial channel, paying hosts millions of pounds and doing entertainment shows. It's ridiculous. If there's one thing that I'm flabbergasted about Britian, is BBC.

You can easily prove that by when you come to the door, just say "I hope the cops don't find that dead relative in the back garden." Handy if you need some gardening done. I'm still waiting for them to dig mine 😊

Note, rather than use the doorbell and give away who he is, he decided to knock instead to try and bypass it to get the homeowner to come to the door.

This my routine for answering the door or phone, if I’m not expecting anyone I don’t answer the door, if a call comes through that I don’t know I don’t answer it. Done this for many years.

Just leave them to knock is perfect. Ignore, ignore, ignore. Nothing is easier than doing nothing.

How NOT to do it: Knock, Knock: "TV Licence.." "Oh come in! I've just put the kettle on!"

Before answering any knocks or bell ringers, the 'textbook' is to ask yourself 3 questions: "Am i feeling lonely?" "Am i in need of any service, gutters cleaned, garden mown, windows washed, pay the milkman, ect.." "Am i expecting any friends or deliveries?" If the answer to all 3 is a resounding 'No'.. ignore the strangers and opportunistic door knockers and get on with your day. 99% of most people's problems begin when curiosity gets the better of them and they wonder ''Who that could be knocking?" In a world of telecommunications, there's no excuse to wonder who's calling. Risk asses what or who is beyond the security of your private dwelling and that front door. We now live in a very upside down reality full of dangers by strangers. Someone could be in a costume ready to unload acid into your face because of that curiosity. Risk assess everything. The 2nd example was perfect. Ignore it.

That actually did happen to some poor guy in a case of mistaken identity. Somebody who’s sister was raped planned to throw acid in the perpetrator’s face but got the wrong house and disfigured the guy who opened the door. You’re absolutely right, don’t open the door unless you know who it is.

Can't wait to see them knock on the door and someone turns on the garden sprinklers 😂

@Shadow Smith you set up 2 factor verification with the Ring Doorbell, they are very secure. The police cannot hack into them in the UK, it’s against the law.

There is no such thing as trespass in English criminal law. You could sue in the civil court but unless they caused actual damage whilst on your property, you wouldn't win. An Englishman's home is NOT his castle, not according to the law anyway.
