As a beginner with Blender, this video has so many useful shortcut keys and less obvious features of blender. Really helped to get my head around basic manipulation and extrusions. Awesome work.

I just want to say that this is the best video when it comes to modeling "bottle threads or Screws". I have seen other people using the same technique but they were not able explain things in this simple manner. I know how hard I have struggled in the past just for a proper procedure. You explained everything so well here. :)

First, thank you for the tutorial, time, and effort. Really really appreciate it coz I learned: ctrl + I, screw modifier, double GG, and more . I will now model a cross section of a METAL FILM RESISTOR used in Electronic Circuits. Basically, the resistor is constructed with a round ceramic rod substrate of fixed length, then coated with a film of metal. Then the metal film is cut using a laser to form a thin spiral metal coil around the substrate. Two end caps with leads are connected at each end of the resistor. A final coat of insulator protection is applied. I googled the cross section picture. Again, thank you.

This is nice. I like how it yields a low tri count while still looking good. Also, in place of f3 searching for "merge" you can press "m" on your keyboard and the merge menu will appear.

Thanks, I'm planning on using these to keep a 3D printed model. Also, another way to add the hole where the screw driver would go could be to add a cube, scale it and apply a boolean to the screw.

Some good techniques that are generalizable, even though they use tools that have been around for years. Well presented. I'll stick with the free built-in bolt factory for screws, though.

Another option is to go to edit>preferences>add ons>mesh Bolt Factory>make sure it's selected. then in the add mesh, there is an option of "bolt" and you can play with different definitions.

great tutorial but at 6:26 when you used Shift+Alt to loop select, this doesn't work the way you show in the video. It selects every contiguous vertex in the entire screw (which is the expected behavior). I was able to use Ctrl + Left Click to get the desired result.
