As a beginner with Blender, this video has so many useful shortcut keys and less obvious features of blender. Really helped to get my head around basic manipulation and extrusions. Awesome work.
I just want to say that this is the best video when it comes to modeling "bottle threads or Screws". I have seen other people using the same technique but they were not able explain things in this simple manner. I know how hard I have struggled in the past just for a proper procedure. You explained everything so well here. :)

Yes thats why we all here
First, thank you for the tutorial, time, and effort. Really really appreciate it coz I learned: ctrl + I, screw modifier, double GG, and more . I will now model a cross section of a METAL FILM RESISTOR used in Electronic Circuits. Basically, the resistor is constructed with a round ceramic rod substrate of fixed length, then coated with a film of metal. Then the metal film is cut using a laser to form a thin spiral metal coil around the substrate. Two end caps with leads are connected at each end of the resistor. A final coat of insulator protection is applied. I googled the cross section picture. Again, thank you.
THANK YOU!!! This was so easy to follow and not to boring and slow like most other tutorials :) Love it
This is so useful. One of the best screw tutorials I have seen. I have saved this to my Watch Later section in case I need to refer back to it. Thanks very much.
This is nice. I like how it yields a low tri count while still looking good. Also, in place of f3 searching for "merge" you can press "m" on your keyboard and the merge menu will appear.
Thanks a bunch! Had a bit of trouble with the screw modifier, glad you cleared everything up!
Why i didn't know weld modifier exists?! i went through so much suffering when I could just use this!!!!! and why no one on earth is not using it?!!!!! thank you man
God this is the best tutorial so far... So simple and easy. I am using blender 2.7 but I was still able to understand cause it just the best way to explain things.
Thanks, I'm planning on using these to keep a 3D printed model. Also, another way to add the hole where the screw driver would go could be to add a cube, scale it and apply a boolean to the screw.
super helpful. actually modeling a plumbing part with threads. thanks!
Best tutorial ever, taught us so much more than just how to make a screw!
If you want precision, then make sure the z distance extruded from the first vertex is equal to the screw modifier distance :) Great video, saved me loads of time
Thank you so much! This is great "Quick Guide".
Cool technique. Thx for sharing!
Це дуже крутий урок! Добре пояснюєш) тепер я зможу зробити нормальну різьбу для лампочки)
Пересмотрела кучу видео, только ваша работа действительно помогла!!!! Спасибо!!!
Great stuff. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for your amazing tutorial!
These are great so far!
This was awesome, man. Thank you!
its so usefull video maybe simple but with this video u learned how use screws really good
Some good techniques that are generalizable, even though they use tools that have been around for years. Well presented. I'll stick with the free built-in bolt factory for screws, though.
Thanks for the clarity, the tutorial was well done. I just subscribed.
COOL and Easy Tutorial
Thanks for this. Really freat tutorial!
cool!!! nice work!
Thank you! That was really helpfull❤
Technique is the key Master.
Thx a lot for this cool tutorial :)
Thank you! Very Nice Video!!
Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you very much. Very good tutorual.
thanks a lot!
Good job
Thanks from Brazil! 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
nice explained
great >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thanks a lot
Very good video. I am looking for some time now after a good tutorial on how to create screws. I need to build one but I don't know if the size of the screw in blender will be accurate 1:1 after 3d printing a model. Nethertheless this guide is very helpfull!
Another option is to go to edit>preferences>add ons>mesh Bolt Factory>make sure it's selected. then in the add mesh, there is an option of "bolt" and you can play with different definitions.
I’ve would’ve been SCREWED is I didn’t learn how to do this lol, thx
Thanks, nice and easy. :)
Nice, but what if I want my screw to taper or have an interesting shape? What does the "Axis Object" do?
hi. is there a way to prevent pants from sticking together on an avatar? I make the clothes in marvelous designer and after rigging, then weight painting, the pants stick together and requires correcting. Is there anyway to avoid this? can i make the pants with the legs open?
you are really good
Thanks
The material looks very realistic? How did you do it, if you don't mind sharing?
intresting. You set a pitch of 0.8, so if you move up the second vertex by 0.8 right at the beginning, no gap will be left
Great!!!!
thanks
Does somebody can explain me how to make the Circle Modell into an solid Object. My Problem is that i want to create a hole in a cube in the shape of the srew but i the screw does not interact wirh the block using the boolean modifier.
How do I make the hole for it to go into
great tutorial but at 6:26 when you used Shift+Alt to loop select, this doesn't work the way you show in the video. It selects every contiguous vertex in the entire screw (which is the expected behavior). I was able to use Ctrl + Left Click to get the desired result.

I had the same problem, the fix is to apply the modifiers in the order he did. First the screw modifier, then the weld :)

Thanks, Obrigado, em português
Can this be used for CNCing and ACTUALLY produce working screws that can fit into REAL threads?
DJ Screw [*] approves
Why didn't you select the "Merge" option instead of the welding modifier?
Or just enable BoltFactory add-on,bolts and nuts with one click
Wow
Nice one. Now what if the thread has a variable size from bottom to top (thin to thick)?

you can deform the mesh with simple deform, lattice or use proportional editing to get the size difference.
Is this give the same result as Bolt Add On? I haven't tried it yet.

The Bolt Factory addon creates the profile and head automatically. It has presets for common metric sizes and head shapes.
Tengo ADHD y un nivel de procrostinacion sorprendente. llevo 3 dias tratando de hacer esto, no tengo idea de como carajos lo hare cuando entre a la universidad
А какой ГОСТ у этого шурупа?
Alt+Shift+S yo! xD
Sorry, I cannot apply the screw modifier why is this?
Like
grid fill makes nothing fir some reason
show the material !!!
It's so much easier to make a screw in Blender.. I spent 90 minutes figuring out how to make one in Windows' 3d Maker and now I feel like a chump.
Weld isn't welding? :.( Nvm... weld> distance did the job..
ctrl+F-->gridFill =D
Ahh! Screw it!
At 6:06 you can just hit M and it opens the "merging" menu for you! Great tutorial otherwise!
