I Forced Myself to Learn Blender - 100 Hour Progress
Ойын-сауық
Don't learn Blender. It will consume your life. I spent so much time learning to 3d model and animate in Blender. I have always wanted to perform and act in my live streams, and after watching Dr. Disrespect perform in his Blender scenes, I knew I had to learn. So let me know, was it worth it for me to learn Blender? Should I keep making blender scenes as a beginner?

6:00 in and it hurts me to hear that nobody in any of those threads told you that you can recover lost files by going: file>External Data>Find Missing Files and selecting the folder where your textures were stored. Also, a psa to make it so you can move your files without corrupting everything: File>External Data> Automatically Pack Resources. This way any texture files you add will be saved as a copy in the data of your .blend file.

@@AdamBaird I'm just getting started switching over to Blender from Maya 3D and its been a few years. I gotta say, its bizarre how much is different between the programs. As someone who's been modelling and texturing for well over 10 years, this is quite a phenomenal progression in just 100 hours. You should feel very proud of yourself :) As a tip though, if getting further into 3D is something you want to do, it would pay you early on to switch Blender's navigation style to "maya" in the user preferences. This is because that's what nearly every other piece of software uses as it's standard navigation. And since you might want to get into advanced texturing with Substance, advanced rendering with Marmoset or advanced cloth creation with Marvelous Designer, breaking the muscle memory early on it much easier than trying to do it after months or years of getting used to it (first hand experience there). Top work!

I work in about 5 different software packages all with different navigation. You can adapt. At least blender lets you pick left click vs right click now! If you want to do it professionally and you hop between software then configure everything to your level of comfort. I work mainly in CAD and going to blender the pan vs rotate keys are switched but after a fumble or two the muscle memory kicks in. Amazing progress in 100hours!

Goddammit. This is amazing. One thing I'll say: doing this project back to back is probably the reason why you improved so much. 100 hours split into a few hours here and there can get you, at most, a donut. Ask me how I know.

I have taken several runs at Blender, but apparently don't have the patience to learn it. I really don't have a need for it with the type of content I produce, so there was no overwhelming push to learn it. I do congratulate you on sticking with it and completing a project. I am sure you will do many more. Cheers.

Bruh. Awesome progress for your first project! You challenged yourself and stuck with it. The reason most people fail is because they burn out before they see the results they expected from day one. and choose to give up instead of persevering It doesn't work like that. Good Job!!!!!!!

Yeah, I thought it'd be very hard to do, but it's actually super simple, especially with AutoCAD and Microstation experience. I'm learning it alongisde UE5 rn, and the initial intimidation has mostly withered away.
I see a lot of work, effort, blood, sweat and maybe a little bit of your soul put into this project and even though you put 100hrs into this project its still impressive, it gave me some motivation but not enough to do thing of my own in Blender ^^" ANYWAY!!! love the video, liked the video and congratualtions you got yourself a new subscriber

You did FAR BETTER in that 100 hours than I EVER would have accomplished in 100 TRILLION MILLENNIA . You're a lucky man. Your work on this is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING , BTW .
You're goood ! Congrats. I will try to make your journey myself, but I still have to think about a personal project I will enjoy making. Thanks for the hints. I knew that a personal project making will work on learning Blender, and you proved it. 100 hours, it's awesome, congrats !

Very impressive and ambitious! Congrats man
there's actually a button under "files > external data > FIND MISSING FILES" in case you're loosing some textures again. its way quicker than downloading and relinking everything 😅 or if the textures and so on are not too big, you can save it in the file direcly. then you dont have to worry anymore abourt file paths

Yeah... that didn't work for me... I must have deleted something along the way,.
I’m switching career fields from software engineering to 3D modeling because of the freedom to model anything desirable in any given field (video games, CA, architecture, etc) and always dreamed of creating models for video game devs to use. This project you did is very similar to where I want to be. I just started but the learning curve is huge in the course I’m using. However it’s still very interesting for me more then computer science. I’ll hope to get similar results in my first 100 hours

You are right, 3D modelling is much more fun and interesting than computer science, computer science is limited to abstraction while 3D modelling lets you create a simulation similar to our world. Computer science can also do that but 3D modelling gives you a visual simulation

It may finally be time. I do a lot of 3D printing but primarily prepare my models using CAD or OpenSCAD. Using and artistic modelling suite really seems like Next F- Level for what I do. Thanks for the motivation, and watch for those forks!
