I am absolutely humbled (1) to get a shoutout from the Punch Professor and (2) to be mentioned in the same paragraph as Jack Dempsey! Until I started studying Jack Dempsey, I had no appreciation for the speedbag. Since then, it’s been a game changing experience for me. One of these days I’m going to build a speedbag platform like that with free range for 360 degree movement. At my gym right now, I just have a wall mounted one. On Monday I was trying to teach one of my favorite trapping techniques and how it translates to fighting, but with the wall in the way, you can’t get the footwork right since you need to cut a 90 degree angle, so it almost defeats the purpose, except for the hand position. Thanks for the message. You teach the world so much more than just how to punch, my friend!

I bought a speedbag inc platform about 18 months ago now an the reason being for that is i stumbled on youtube !. this guy THE professor . awesome and let me tell u coach if it wasnt for you i would of sold it within the 1st week haha . i kept on in there and yeah I'm getting there . I found opening my hands on the speed bag helped, even when using a boxing ball. I got into SB for mental health reasons

@@PunchProfessor i know Paul wow that was a long time ago, I remembered the life we lived everything was boxing and shotokan and those movies were really good to us we loved them tho they were made as they were. but Bruce Lee was it you were and still are Great with the nuchuckus watching him use them and you became very great using them you hit a few people over the head with them and still kept them in your hands ready for your next move impressive I remember Sugimoto said to you Paul let me see you move with the nuchuckus remember I believe he was impressed by the look on his face he had a way how he would look at you and everyone when he liked something a little strange maybe to some people but not us we knew him. and we knew this Master Sugimoto was as such, enter the dragon, was the best everyone has seen it many times.yep tell the dude I also like chocolate cookies with my milk and my sraw...lol 😆 love you Paul G-d bless see you later am gonna go cry now 😪😅

Hey Punch Professor, I Finally put up my old school dingle ball (old school rope swivel nicol's swivel patented back in June 1900) What a lost art, Hitting on the rope swivel is fun. Video on my channel, I'm also gonna try and upload so old boxing videos.

I always intuitively punch with my hands open, despite the fact that my last boxing trainer did not advise that due tue injury risk, but I also did many years of JuDo training. I thought that not beeing able to grapple immediately was the reason for my preference - I never had problems with injuring my wrists, since I try to hit with a knuckle position I think a learned form a bit of Karate training. But thinking of it, the explanation in this video may be the actual reason why closing my heads feels wrong and inhibiting my combat effectiveness. Also thanks to Ramsey Dewey for the shutout.

Really nice Paul! Always enjoy seeing your videos. You're right...speed bag is underused in a boxing gym. With so many pieces of equipment to train with... without several technique to work on the speed bag, many move on to the next equipment after only a few minutes. When training with Alan Kahn, he would say, it's better described as a "control bag". With control, the speed will follow. You'll also not be faster than the swivel. :) i added this to our Speed Bag Playlist...hope it helps you with the viewers brother. I agree with your prayers.

Hey Professor, what kind/brand of glove are you using on the speedbag? And I may as well ask, what's the thin bag glove you're using on the other 2 bags?

Is that the cheap little swivel that comes with the Everlast heavy bag/speed bag stand? It works great for hitting the speed bag from all sides. My current $100 Everlast speed bag platform came with a swivel that only allows me to hit the bag on two sides.

I have an old school boxing question and couldnt think of a better person to ask Is there any difference between old(60-80s) and new school boxing shoes? Does new school have too much grip?

mrgood189 * * * * * Five Stars for watching * In Boxing there has been more problems with slipping than having to much grip. Rings are different. When I work a fight for one of my Boxers. I'll check the ring before fight night, usually at the weigh ins the day before the fight. Most times we carry more than one pair of shoes and there have a few times we ran out and bought some shoes at the last minute out of necessity. In the 1960's and into the 70's the shoes were different in that they were slick, and we put rosin on the soles by stepping into a box that was ringside for the fighters to utilize ! great video again!!!!! i got a speed bag this summer and a double end bag and have seen a big improvement in my accuracy timing and overall punch endurance. i also have been using a reflexball.
