Crazy to me that Dan hasn't played Guacamelee, I think he'd really like it if he likes these games.

He played the 2nd one for a quick look a few years ago.
I Miss Jason!!!!
Unless it's already mentioned somewhere in the video, 6:57 is a reference to the game Guacamelee!
Hour and a half quick look of a game I've been enjoying greatly??? GB has blessed me this day
Dead Cells is such a sweetheart of a video game.
I played Dead Cells very briefly on Xbox when it first came out, I think before even the first DLC. It was fun, and man... seeing the Castlevania stuff and everything else is really tempting. Probably gonna have to buy this later, cause this all looks amazing.
Dead Cells GB content without Jason isn't Dead Cells
Also the character Shanoa they didn't recognize is the main character from Order of Ecclesia, which Grubb then claims is the best Castlevania 5 minutes later. :P
Looking forward for the Dead Cells Chicken Shit run for the next GDQ!
Maybe this comes up later in the QL but to enter the later Castlevania areas (after the Clock Tower) you have to skip these first ones with the Death boss. You can't do it all in one run. (the game tells you this after the first run but I guess Dan didn't pick up on that.) Also there's more setup for the DLC that you don't see in the QL because Dan has already played it.

DAN. Deadly poision is not allowed to be sold in a grocery store!!!!
Would he not have a wall jump? It's been a while since I've played dead cells, but it seemed like that should have solved it when they got stuck.

He said he started a new save, I'm guessing he doesn't have the wall run unlocked yet.

Yes, the spider rune, it didn't look like Dan had it unlocked. They fixed this issue in the latest hotfix patch, so this shouldn't happen again to someone without it in this level.
I think what Dan is thinking is the feeling of nostalgia you get on how kids meet at a playground in the 90s or 80s to discuss game questions before the internet. Like asking a pal how did they get past this or that and it’s not all spelled out. It’s why dark souls is so liked and why modern gamers hate dark souls besides the difficulty since most games are made to be as easy and appealing for mass market due to game cost. Games with that level of hum I wonder what this is can’t be easily copied. It feels soulless when big AAA studios don’t understand the appeal and crank everything up hoping money will flow like too much loot in a game vs meaningful progression and discovery. Or discovery with tension and intrigue vs no issue and a waypoint and map barf. Both can be fun thou. Sometimes opposed to what hardcore gamers say. Your sometimes in the mood for fast food sometimes a home cooked meal or something fancy
Definitely my favorite rogue-lite. Like it more than Hades.
I'm sure it's just me getting old but I really miss old Giant Bomb, including Dan (Love Dan!). Grubb seems to be a really cool dude as well. It's just so not-Giant Bomb to keep working there after two takeovers by fucking, soulless corporations.

I mean what do you want them to really do? As evidenced by the huge wave of layoffs that happened across various games media outlets, if they quit they would probably be out of a job for a while. Given that some have family, houses, live in expensive cities etc., it wouldn’t make sense to quit in the current climate. The “ethos” of Giant Bomb, if that’s really a thing, isn’t more important than their livelihood. And the only real choices in games media these days are: get lucky with Twitch, or work for a soulless corporation.
