i just play this game for a month with the bat/ throwing object combo, i acually forgot this game can't be play with brute force :D lost alot of game because i forgot how to dodge. your game play help alot

Visually it looks cool. Besides that I would put this in D tier as long as it has that swap lockout. You're already being penalized weapon slot 2 + the rapid swap playstyle, there's no need to also have a dodge lockout.

@@benkenobi8816 i have some golden outfits but i’m still at 3bc, the big problem for me are the regular bioms and the lack of potions. Suddenly from having 1 pot every transition i now have 0 at least until the first boss because that’s how far i got… this weekend i got a legendary holy water in a 3bc run, it didnt last long, but it was fun lol

Just keep playing and eventually you just kill the enemies quicker while taking less hits. and then it just goes from there. you might find you develop weapon and skill combos that you become comfortable with.

@@LeiteIcaro if i was tryin to beat 3bc and then 4bc, to get to 5, i would prob use symmertrical lance or electric whip. you can always use spite sword face flask as well if things ever get desperate, cause im pretty sure its still the strongest thing in the game to use cause of vengeance

@@benkenobi8816 I beat 5 BC twice in 80 hours of total playtime today. I'm considered myself still as noob. Yeah the easiest strategy is using survival build and use survival high damage weapon like symmetrical lance or war spear, that has superior range and crowd destruction. You can use such weapon to clear one biome so fast to keep your malaise meter as lower as possible. However my main key to keep alive until the end and beat "secret boss" is consistent healing by using "what don't touch you" Mutation, it heals you a little every successfull parry.

The switching mechanic is super fun, but the dodge lockout kills the momentum of combat too much for me. I might be willing to get better at using it if I felt like the weapon had noticeably higher damage output than one-handed brutality weapons. As it is, it's just lackluster for locking me out of a useful off-hand support or shield.

absolutely love these show cases. whether its coming back to the game after a long break or just learning how to build a weapon they keep me informed and entertained

I'd love for you to showcase the Vampire killer ( with holy water combo, it goes nuts and is lore accurate ) and the Bible. I feel like the Bible is a really good survival weapon as I don't struggle with it at all on 4/5 bc

just stared playing this game after a long break and I'm loving this weapon, anyone trying to do a build with it I highly recommend predator as it protects you from getting smacked after you do a combo transform since that locks you out of rolling.

Imo, instead of relying on an off color kill rhythm try Melee mutation instead Constant slow is better than non reliable atk speed buff

I love this thing, but it's probably not as good as I want it to be. It definitely feels like it should be Red/Green. Whip form is better for hallways with great reach, and feels more like a Survival weapon, and Sword form feels more properly Brutality-like. There is a little bit of a design disconnect in how you have the brief crit window, but the whip takes so long to swing it doesn't crit for the whole combo. That just leads me to try and stay in Sword form more often because I can get a few more hits out, and that form kills easier without needing crits. I wonder how it would feel if Whip form had a longer crit window, or even if it was single handed, but transformed after three button presses... Overall, it seems like a pretty independent weapon, and most Brutality Skills play nice with it, ideally you have a turret and some kind of Grenade for bats. If it were Red/Green, I think Crusher would be absolutely nuts with it. I think it's solidly high B tier just under A, but it could be an A or even S tier easily with just a couple of adjustments, the biggest problem is that I don't like having to play fake Survival with my mutations. Edit: missed a typo that was bugging me.

This weapon, to me, is just like Hattori's Katana: I absolutely love it, but I super suck with it! About the Katana, I never got the cancel right (maybe because I play on KBM?); now this one, I always get hit while changing forms. :c I really wanna get good with it, but it's really hard...! On the bright side, Im having a blast with the Bible, Death's Scythe, and the Cross. Amazing DLC!

If they patch the switch and give it i frames or a shield (with 3s to 6s icd) this will be my favorite weapon from now on. Even if they do it as a legendary affix it'll still be bussin. I haven't played the game in a while but I think cocoon may work while in the switching animation? I'm not sure.

Still stuck in BS1 but i do like the dlc, still haven't beaten any of the new bosses lol. Love the video

I think they should add to the Whip form of the sword the properties of all the whips of ignoring shields to compensate and make it more interesting, at least what I could see in the showcase you couldn't ignore the shield while using that form, and for the music, where do you activate those Castlevania tracks?

I'm most interested in showcases for the Morning Star and Throwing Axe. They seem sort of difficult to use. Or at least a bit unconventional. I'm wondering how you will use them in a run.

I find the throwing axe to actually be pretty straightforward once you get used to the trajectory, but that morning star… jeez, I think I’m gonna avoid unlocking that for the time being, since it looks like an absolute nightmare to use effectively.

​​@@jawknee4088 idk how you use the throwing axe. It takes precise spacing, and is a bit slow. Most enemies move around a lot, which an issue for the first point here. And if there are a few enemies around you, the slow throw speed might get you in trouble. As for morning star. I like using it a lot. Though it takes some getting used to.

What I like is the swap gimmick has mutations like any other weapon. So technically ya got a double weapon and a half with the Whip Sword.

I think this weapon would be better as a one slot where press and hold attack transforms the form. That way you'd have access to another weapon, plus could use transform as a combo without moving to another button: tap, tap, hold, tap, tap, hold.

Eh, I think it's fine the way it is. The only thing I want it to do is increase the length of the critical hit duration to allow the entire combo to crit.

@skyslashnova I don't know what you mean by the "strength of a one handed weapon" the dps numbers on that thing are fucking crazy. I did most of a run with just the level one Whip Sword that I started with because I never found something stronger lol. Then I got a IX Whip sword & those numbers were ridiculous.

@skyslashnova well that's not what you said at all. You said it was weak, or as weak as a one handed weapon, both of which are objectively wrong. Other weapons can certainly be more reliable, but that was not your initial stance.

As a bloodborne megafan. Trick weapons need more love in all games

It's a great weapon. Does insane amounts of damage if you swing once and immediately switch while in recovery. Only thing holding it back is taking a second weapon slot when it really operates as 1 multi-functional melee weapon. A tier for me.

I'd like to see a boomerang/cross run, a single-ammo only kinda deal

If you slide from the attack to the switch buttons, you get a crit every time with no lock out delay. It's counter intuitive but it works.

Wym by that? As in cancelling into the switch attack before the first attack even gets to deal damage?

Is it just me or when i hold the attack button and at the same time tapping rapidly on the switch button it will slash super fast?

It's so hard when end of crit combo there is several second that we cant roll, enemy can hit us

What I like about Vee is he's not a snob who turns his nose up at Continue Mode. Dead Cells is largely a roguelike for sure, but it works just as well as a sort of 2D Dark Souls/Metroidvania with infinite continues.

That's not the Alucard costume, it's Hector And you can switch to Castlevania soundtracks in the menu

Weapon is fun, the animation is nice, but it feels as strong as a one-handed item which I feel hurts it a bit.

Whip sword is NOT good by any means on its own, but its a fancy addition that im sure many will enjoy even me. I just find it extremely weak on its own and the best weapons in this game dont rely on other things
