You should max out the ram on that 2012 MacBook - it's so cheap and easy to do yourself. Max it can take it 16GB

I upgraded my old mid 2012 MacBook Pro to 16 gb ram and 1tb ssd. Did this so I can still use my serato scratch live box plus my A&H db4 (soundcard not supported anymore) runs smoother with old OS. Can’t upgrade operating system also otherwise my serato live box won’t work. Running high sierra.

You might need to bring your own wifi router too, wouldn’t want to take a mac mini and old Macbook to any wedding venue and find out their wifi connection sucks or has some connection issues/firewall blocks to prevent this or worse yet, no wifi at all…

I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. 16gb Ram 1600mhz, 2TB 870 Samsung SSD, 2.9 i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB, Monterey iOS. Works perfectly!

So the use-case here is for DJs who already own a slower Intel-based MacBook, and would rather spend less money on a newer M1 Mac Mini than an entire new M1 Macbook laptop. It definitely does not morph the old machine into a new M1 machine, lol.

So, you need wifi to make this happen?

I used opencore to install Monterey on my 2012 without doing all that.

Good for home but Who is bringing a Mac Mini to an event 🤷🏽‍♀️

u coulda sold your old macbook, added that money to ur 600 bucks and bought the actual proper macbook pro m1. this is dumb.
