I don't think people really appreciate how hard Stop-Action filming can be. Well done. Cheers!

I've got a 2.7Ghz Quad i7 2012 non retina I bought in 2020 & did the same service. Pulled it completely apart, re-did the thermal paste on cpu/gpu, maxed out the ram, removed the optical drive & replaced it with a 2tb SSD, & replaced the boot drive with a 1tb SSD. Use it everyday & it works perfectly 👌

The amount of time this guy spent on this video is insane
The hings is spring loaded and lubricating it won't cause any harm to the mechanism. It will stop the creaking noise and make it work smoother. I have repaired many MacBooks in my days in IT and use either silicon based or lithium grease, doesn't take much. Once you remove the upper LCD assembly you can remove the plastic cover to expose the screws to tighten if needed and lubricate the hinge part.
Editing a video in that way requires a LOT of time. My compliments for your great work.
This video is not just a video; it's like a work of art. It captivated me while I was watching it

This is great, last things to do if you want is upgrade the screen (if not already equipped), upgrade the wifi and bluetooth & update to the latest Mac OS via OpenCore. I can't speak for the lower models but if you have the 2.6GHz or 2.7GHz i7 it'll feel like an up to date machine.

I love your stop motion animation!! Amazing work! Upgrading the CPU on those is not really possible…😢 But a new SSD and more RAM, plus a fresh battery pack are a nice upgrade if keyboard and screen are still in good shape.

Really great work Bro, still spreed benefits
I have a MBP 9,1 (15 inch i7, mid 2012, non retina), the last model to be user serviceable if I'm not wrong. Bought it july 2012 and upped the ram to 16GB (Corsair Vengeance) right away. Since then, it took me 8 years to replace both the HDD and Superdrive for a 500Gb Crucial MX500 SSD (main drive - os and apps) and a 1Tb WD Blue SSD (storage). Last week I just replaced the power jack, battery (almost eleven years old) and power adapter/charger (my 3rd one). I did maybe 2 internal cleanings, one of them was very thorough and I also changed the thermal paste (i believe it was around 5 years ago). It was my only computer for many years and still is my main one. Sure it is not as fast as more modern machines, especially the ones with Apple silicon. It also will be permanently capped at Catalina (last officially supported version for this machine, and I'm not going to push it further). It has A LOT of battle scars and sometimes heats up pretty bad (specially after installing 2 SSDs). For most things I do, it is fast enough. For some uses (more demanding video editing), it reaaaally shows its age and it's becoming borderline tolerable. But it is still totally usable in 2023 for a lot of tasks. My MBP is a true warrior and also a great companion for the last 11 years. I'm planning on getting a new MacBook this year, but I'll keep using this beast until it breaks beyond repair because it's such a well engineered and nicely put together machine.

I've replaced the SSD on my late 2013 13" MBP with an nvme drive, so some stuff can still be done to it. I see AliExpress does a replacement battery set, but new keys are what I need next, as some are wearing thin. Magsafe receptacle the usual garbage, but hanging on in there. The kbd action is still 100% ok. Retina display fine. Bought new, best value for money laptop I've had.
