Turia Pitt on doing the impossible: National Press Club Address
Ten years ago, Turia Pitt was trapped by an out-of-control grassfire during an ultramarathon in the Kimberly. She received burns to 65% of her body, spent six months in gruelling rehabilitation, and was told she'd never run again.
But Turia is not one to take no for an answer. She's since crossed the finish line at the Ironman World Championships, written four bestselling books, coached more than 40,000 people in her online programs, completed the Kokoda Trek, helped raise over $1 million for charity, and had two sons with her partner Michael.
In her National Press Club debut, Turia shares her thoughts on how having vulnerability in the way we tell our stories can lead to social and political change.

My inspiration for everything ❤️ She gives me strength...
Turia, I loved this, right down to your talking with your hands which is what I do. Keep your sense of humor and your personality. I bet you are an awesome mom and wife, and have a wonderful future.
How can you not feel but love for this beautiful woman?
I too had to learn to walk again, feed myself, toilet myself. Over 2 weeks my immune system attacked and killed most of my nervous system. They still to this day the docs don't know why and told me I'd never walk again. I spent 7mnths in hospital and go for treatments weekly but everyday I'm grateful that I had the best physio and occupational therapists I have all my fine motor skills and abilities to walk as well as a husband who stuck with me as well. It's all about the attitude! Love your perseverance.
Amazing!!!!!!!God blessed you and needed you for something else. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It’s so awesome, she’s championing other women. I love her and her strength, she’s also so well spoken & brilliant.
Turia, you’re an awesome, amazing and an inspiration to all women. What you’ve gone through as in “to hell and back “made you stronger and more determined to prove your worth. You are a blessing to us all
Wow ! What can I say about this badass Aussie that hasn’t already been said ? So I’d just like to simply say - THANK YOU FOR WHO AND WHAT YOU ARE AND ABOUT!!!!!❤
She is one smart cookie, her honesty is both confronting and inspirational.... she has learnt first, to get comfortable with herself, before she looked for compassion in others. A lesson for us all.
Its Faith, Courage, ,Strength and Determination she have never lose or stop her .
Wow. .....what a great speech. You are amazing. I'm sure my reaction is generic. But you really touched a cord with me. My self esteem has plummeted and I really needed your motivational speech. I'm not handicapped or disfigured nor am I unhealthy. I have fallen out of love with myself. I know I need to love myself and beleive in myself. Sometimes life doesn't go the way you had planned it.
I watched Like 3 videos of her and her progress. Wow. So inspirational
Inspirational beautiful angel from heaven God bless her

Amazing young lady your place in heaven is waiting for you
Turia is bloody marvelous and has obviously been marvelous since the get go - her beginning!! Rock on!
Turia, you are an inspiration for all women, you show us how to get up and not let anything defeat us in life.
Turia, that fire took many things from you but it did not take your beautiful eyes.
The same stubbornness that made her ignore the warnings and go run a marathon in the middle of the brush fire, made her overcome obstacles in her limitations after. So ironic.
❤
This said 11 months ago.if this is correct why no masks in audience? Can clarify?
The terms should be a person or people w a disability and something like African Australians not black disabled..
