The person he fell in love with was still there 100% beyond the scars and as he has explained, he is flabbergasted how anyone would think he wouldn't have stuck with her BECAUSE of that exact reason.

Valerie Switzer -- In my view it's quite innacurate to say that a woman is so much more expected to remain loyal to a man who has suffered this type of physical deformity in comparison to a man. If any relationship is not built on true love and adoration for one another, a tragedy like this will almost always result in the partner leaving. The relationship will crumble if their connection is based around sex and solely on a physical attraction.... regardless of the gender. Any man who has a TRULY loving bond and a strong mental connection with a woman will never leave her in result of a tragic physical change such as what happened here.

My GF is going through this as well...35 percent of her body is covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns. This gives me hope. And I'm the same as this guy. I'm not going anywhere, I'm going to get my girl through this.

When burns are that bad you don't feel pain the nerves die. That's why she did not think it was that bad. She was also highly medicated.

I was burned 55% of my body when I was 4yrs old ....My dress caught fire...I was in the hospital 3 months with skin grafts and blood transfusions...it didn't reach my face but there is a scar on the back of my neck where it almost did...They let my arm grow down to my sides so I could raise the high...surgery has fixed that..I had a belt that melted around my stomach...Surgery has help that...I have two daughters...I am married to a sweet loving man and I am blessed...The Lord is good...And I truly love how Teria has comes so far in her recovery...

A perfect example of someone's beauty shining through and overcoming the scars that were left behind.

Man i watched the whole documentary and i must say i feel like a piece of garbage compared to her boyfriend. is this dude real ? if this is love then what did i know all my life... He is all what humanity means. without him she would have never made it

Fe Nix I don't think you ever fully solve the problem. I think there's a battle in your mind until the day you die. Somedays you win somedays you don't. Hopefully as you grow older the good days outnumber the bad and I think that happens with gratitude. Being thankful to experience even the terrible things in life. "Thank you Lord for this terrible day I'm having, many would love to have my problems at the moment". And thinking of others as often as possible. If you focus on others you won't dwell on yourself. I'm as selfish as anyone (maybe more so) but at least I can see the flaw and work towards being a better person.

Burned alive and she’s like “ill be in work next week- oh hey bonnie!” Lol what a beast. Her spirit is ferocious living!

Every time I find myself complaining about something trivial, or taking things for granted, I am going to try and remind myself of this video. These two people are just amazing. To have such a terrible thing happen and yet overcome it and be focusing on the positive things - truly inspiring.

Turia, Your story goes deeper for me than your burns. The agony I put myself through with my depression is unbearable but no more. Her injuries are FAR WORSE than depressed!!!!!! Come on !

After my mother passed, we were unable to donate any organs (due to medications and her advanced age). But we were able to donate skin. We were comforted for doing this -- Mom was such a generous and loving person, and we knew it was the right thing to do.

She has the best in a partner than anyone can ever ask for. It is sad when someone gets disfigured for life, how quickly they find their partner cannot deal with your scars and walks, so I am beyond happy for er that she found a loyal loving man.

This story surfaced many lies that I have been living in my life...love, relationships, compassion, me as a person in my own life, a whole lotta things in this light...very few people in my 26 years taught me the most important lessons of life within minutes...and you guys are one among them....thank you Michael and Turia for being your inspiring selves. Much Love 🤍

When I look at you Turia, I see beauty, strength, and I see love. You inspire lots of people. Thank you!

I had a burn on my foot that required a skin graft from my calf of about 20 sq. in. The pain from the burn was nothing compared to the pain from the graft area. It was two weeks of the most extraordinary pain I have ever known. Still, I cannot imagine the agony you have endured. You are truly beautiful.

You dont find men like him everyday~ and what a brave strong woman!

I burned my whole forearm a few days ago (2.2.22) - and I am so in pain. I can feel your story so deep! Your husband has the sweetest heart!

Lovelyloi Kevin van Etten if he cried & vomited every time he did his job we’d all be dead in our own poop in a dirt hole somewhere. We would have no medical advances. No tough treatments. No experimental breakthroughs in medicine. I understand that the subject of that article may have been awful, but don’t condemn him for doing what he was trained to do & feeling how he was trained to feel. When you cook a chicken do you mourn for it? No. You just cook it. If I had to skin an animal would I mourn for it? Hell Yes! Because I’ve never done it. I’m not accustomed to it. He is. I assume most well trained & qualified medical professionals HAVE to have a mindset pretty similar to this just to do their job. Otherwise they’d all go mad. 🤷‍♀️

I admire Michael and Turia so much. The incredible support from her family and loved ones, and people of the world who pray for her. On a personal note, my late husband Fred donated his tissues in honor of his student Daniel of Calexico, CA, a burn survivor. Organ and tissue donation is an incredible gift to someone's future.

This woman is beyond inspirational! To see what she has been through and to be able to keep such a positive outlook on the future is deeply touching. The fact that she has the strength to realize not every day is going to be perfect that some are just going to be crap and you don't have to put on a false happy facade just own your feelings and look forward to a better tomorrow takes some real strength and courage that most mortals don't possess. Yes, he is, but before the fire they were equally attractive. Its amazing what the surgeons have done for her. She is not bad to look at now at all. I have no doubt she will, one day, be almost what she was. Both of them are amazing people.

@@patharbin854 Unfortunately she will never look remotely like what she used to. I worked in a burn unit it just don't happen but she is still lovely with soft eyes and a great personality. She is one of the bravest women on the planet I admire her greatly. She had children now 😊🤗😊

when I was 17 I experienced a third burn from a bonfire that burnt the entirety of my right arm all the way to the elbow. Turia and her husband inspire to continue on as a burn victim ( although it is difficult for me to describe myself as a victim OR survivor). My scars don’t define me and that’s the best lesson I’ve ever learned. Thank you turia and michael!

The host tracked down the wealthy Husband and Wife team who are the organisers of the marathon, they ignored this victim and refused to admit to any fault ! Zero compassion , in it purely for all the money ! Why is everyone just saying “sorry what this couple have to go through” BUT people around the world still throwing money to the organisers to join their marathons?!!!! Why didn’t everyone come together and start a protest for this couple against the organisers?!!

Mental health issues are real, don't berate yourself if you're truly suffering already

I was just speechless after watching this. The grace and courage and strength sown by Turia is beyond amazing. Her fiance’ is an amazing human being. The depth if his character and integrity is evident in his love for her. So many would have not stayed in the relationship for superficial reasons. Her life is rich in the most important ways.
