Very cool and clean, I have a suggest if u can, install oil temp. sensor to the line after the cooler going back to the engine to redout the actual oil temp.

It's always best to add an oil cooler..before you need one, rather than over heating first.

@@G_Weezy with the vibrant thermostatic plate you have to remove the cooler and fill it with oil, if you get the mishimoto thermostatic plate, it allows 10% oil past before the thermostat opens up so it will it fill by itself.

I found out that you can take small computer high flow fans and make a shroud on the back and act like radiator setup for better oil cooling hopefully you try it won’t regret it

@kraftingkars I love your vids!!! Here i am again looking at your vids to mock up for my ek. Any particular reason why you didnt do the mishimoto kit vs your setup with the split parts from vibrant? An how long were the hoses after you mounted everything up?

I needed the vibrant spacer, and have had great luck with their products in the past. Each hose is at least 5ft

@@kraftingkars good to know brother!!! Im on the fence if I should just purchase the full kit from mishimoto since doing the a le carte sourcing of parts equals out to roughly the same price. Just not sure what the build quality is on the thermostat plate

An10 should in the lower if you need change oil use loosen and the used oil in your cooler. Not more problem

I believe Vibrant sells a spacer for their sandwich plates.

Yep they do! I just kept using my old gloshift plate since my oil feed line and pressure sensor were already hooked up to it

I love your videos mate I bought an oil cooler recently but I don't know which way to put the lines I've never fitted one before and I know it's directional but don't know which way in or out any advice

It shouldn't matter, most sandwich plates will be labeled with an in/out. But oil can flow both ways through an oil cooler so it really doesn't matter which port on your sandwich plate is sending/recieving. The hoses follow the same path either way if that makes sense

My Mishimoto oil cooler has just arrived with some 10AN lines. They are way bigger than the stock lines that ran to the old oil cooler. Is it bad that the new lines are at least twice as big? Also need to get some M16 x 1.5 to 10AN fittings to connect it back to the original oil filter housing

Shouldn't be an issue, just make sure you add a little more oil to fill out the extra capacity. And always monitor that oil pressure👍

Oh yeah, I don't have an oil temp gauge, but I noticed my oil pressure was a little higher after install, and my coolant temps were lower as well!

Is it worth throwing in an oil cooling sydtem in a non turboed honda? Im dealing with some overheating issues after driving decent distances, first radiatir but was definetly considering this

Definitely, your #1 priority should be to direct as much airflow as possible to your radiator. That will help on long cruises. My oil cooler seems to have helped keep my oil from getting too hot and breaking down! Which has helped keep oil pressure up and temps down👍

Were you having overheating issues or what was the motivation for this mod?

Just wanted the added safety. Some factory B16s actually have a little oil to water cooler behind the oil filter. Since turbo setups tend to run hotter, I figured it was a good idea. It made a big difference keeping my oil cool and preventing it from breaking down fast.

I don't have an oil temp sensor. But I can definitely tell the engine runs cooler, ect's seem lower. I think the biggest benefit so far is it helps keep the oil from breaking down so fast due to the heat from the turbo. Helps keep oil psi up!

Did you also added more oil? Does the oil pump work harder because the oil runs in a longer path?

You'll increase your oil capacity a little, I have a 4piston oil pump in my car and it seems to handle this cooler no problem. A good oil pressure gauge will be your friend!

If we didn’t have the second oil adapter would the install then be the same without it ? What was the reason you didn’t remove the secondary adapter ? Thank you for the information the video was good 🤙🏼

@@kraftingkars awesome! I’ve been looking at a lot of your videos lately I just had a few questions before moving forward if that’s okay. So my current setup is a b20v and I did notice I have enough clearance to run a single sandwich plate/Therm plate does that mean it’s okay to just order the single vibrant plate you had and not use a double decker setup ? (I know you said it was only for your specific clearance issue) Secondly, I’ve never done any oil line fittings myself, is that process hard to do? I understand you’re using a long strip of line in case you need more length so then you cut it at the length you need but then you insert the hose line by force into the female fitting then insert a male fitting into that one to create 90’s? Are you essentially crimping the fittings on the hose or is it just an insert ? Thank you a lot for your help, it’s very informative 🙏🏼

@@fantasyyy_ you can definitely try to run the single sandwich plate, I know it works for alot of people! As for building AN lines. I would just search up "how to build AN lines“ on KZread and watch a couple tutorials to get a good understanding. Making larger size lines is kinda a pain till you really get the hang of it.

They make an fitting wrenches so they don’t mess up the finish btw

Yep, for me it has only increased my oil pressure. Cooler oil = thicker oil = more pressure

Is it an si? It will be tricky to reach those power levels with just the d17 motor. You could go turbo kit with an ECU upgrade and a tune and hit your goal

After you installed the oil cooler, did you add more oil to your engine?

Yep, I filled up the oil cooler by itself with oil, and made sure the engines oil level was good before starting! So far no issues!

Mishimoto? Those are expensive. I put cheap ones on, and they run well also. And you can install those anywhere to improve your engine, it doesn't have to be in front. The main thing is, it runs More oil which makes the car run better and it keeps the oil clean. You're doing show car stuff, but the video is still helpful.
