Tuning a Trinity Slot Machine 17.5T Motor. Is it Worth Upgrading?
Hello. In this video, I take a bone stock Trinity Slot Machine 17.5 motor and I upgrade it with ceramic bearings, titanium screws, and brass shims. I check the motor performance after each upgrade to see the difference of each upgrade.

Nice, although I've noticed throughout your video you refer to KV as Kilovolt (1000V) which in this case is not correct as it stands for Constant Volocity which in this application is the rpm per ever 1 volt of input so you can calculate the rpm at any given input voltage given the KV.

You are correct. I did more research on it and I can't really get a clear answer. However, you are correct by saying it has to do with rotations and not Kilovolts

how does kv stand for Constant (with a C) velocity.
My Maclan 17.5 did 3670 kv at exactly 50 on the timing and pulled 6.02 amps.

Very nice! What voltage?

@@wutupclegg6618 Hobbywing tuner only tests at 7.4 I believe. Voltage should not affect kv rating as far as I know.

@kevinwest1607 sorry, I wasn't dure which machine you were using.

@@kevinwest1607 I figured that's what you used, but I just wanted to make sure. I love that feature, when testing motors.

@@kevinwest1607 @wutupclegg6618 That's right. If you test the KV, it's not so important to make sure all battery are exactly 7.4V although still good practice that same batteries are use at same rate of charge so that current draw and voltage after voltage sag is even.
where did you get the upgrade parts from?

I purchased them from Amain Hobbies and eBay.
Just wanted to let you know titanium is still metal. The word you're looking for is nonferrous. And just because it's nonferrous doesn't mean it eliminates an eddy current completely.

Thank you. That is 100% accurate. Titanium is still considered a type of metal. I was trying to keep the verbiage simple and didn't think about the significance of the two types of metal as being in the same family. I guess I can simply differentiate them by calling them steel and titanium.

titanium has a VERY low eddy current.
It is NOT worth the effort or expense to the club racer.

I agree. It's only worth it if you're on the pro level and need everything you can get. But at that point, you should just go modified.

@wutupclegg6618 Also, I like what many Asian countries are doing, like the upcoming FEMCA 1/10 ISTC Championship; using hand out esc's and motors that micro-processor limit RPM and fixed/matched motor timing. Levels the field and maximizes driver skill based competition.

@JS-vh4yq it's really sad that it has come to this due to cheaters.

@wutupclegg6618 I look at this as an opportunity to refine the stock class to reflect equality and driver development.

@@The_Absurdistt can only agree that the stock class has out done itself since long ago and the expence of racing like 1:10 buggy stock is far more expensive then mod eaven if it is suposed to be a slower class but eaven that is sometimes not the case as stock got almost the same times as mod, need to get for example "21,5T hand out" as the new slower stock class to make that apeal to new drivers and those that cant handle speed. and also stock should be stock out the box racing to quote a famous guy "thats nothing stock about stock cars"
