I'm American and I have long been a fan of Dr. Mahathir of Malaysia. He is a great leader for that country. If he was running in our country, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

This was very insightful. Thank you for the invite. Tun Dr. Mahathir is a master at foreign affairs and is a great advocate for action to stop climate change and for criminalization of war. Some Malaysians may say certain things about him, understandably so, but I've always had high respect for him to be able to put Malaysia on the map. Something no Malaysian politician is able to do at his level of renown.

This is how he talks...very clear and easy to understand english. Very few leaders are like this. We should learn and make more forums like this with him to make the world a better place to live in.

@@drwatson1234 the West used to do this to his communities back in the day. While I do not condone revenge or grudge of some sort, it is understandable why. His language, while still being strictly formal, has always been very direct, controversial and unfiltered no matter who he adresses to, even POTUS or Malaysian Kings. He used to do this all the time, he toned it down now but still does it when he thinks it is necessary to be heard. Kinda ironic that the people who look up to him the most are the Japanese, they're known to be incredibly polite but I guess they think such confrontational dynamics is required to solve dire political issues, especially Asian maritime disputes.

I have my respect to Tun M, just that on ascertain aspect I disagree with his idea. For example haze pollution partly because Malaysia did not sign cross border pollution act whilst Singapore did so. This is not Indonesia national matter and especially Malaysian company in indonesia is the culprit behind this work. Also on Rohinga issue is national issue to Myanmar, why then Tun treated the matter otherwise?

@Teoh Papa Malaysia is the first signatory of Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution. Are you talking about something else? And Rohingya crisis isn't just domestic and internal affair of Myanmar, it's a crime on humanity and effecting many countries with refugee crisis. Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Indonesia most affected

1. Malaysia signs the act 2. It makes no difference if Malaysian companies are the sole culprits, Indonesia's law enforcement agencies still has the same job, and the lack of enforcement from Indonesian side either says they really do not care about their job or there are corruption at play among Indonesian ranks.

@@kimihakimi9999 my comment was basis on YB Yeo that her last press commented Malaysia did not sign. my understanding that Malaysia did sign the Transboundary Haze Pollution, only thing is the content agreement was an open ending text. Haze is a threat to human being, look at Indonesia API hit above 500 index. The Humanity issue not just in Malaysia but as well Indonesia, Singapore and rest of country affected by this wrong doing. As such, It is the same issue but Tun M has made it two different matter. Hope I clarify my earlier statement.

@@mimimimeow Yes but I explained this point to Kimi Hakimi. Lets put it this way, no one can run away from Law enforcement unless the agencies "allow" to happen. Can a company don't pay tax ? Haze is return annually, but Malaysia and Indonesia like abang adik tolerate each others. So back to my point, Tun M was giving an excuse as to cover the abuse of law by politician and Corporate Company.

@Teoh Papa So what singapore actually did? Everyone in Southeast Asia are helpless because it's called "transboundary". We believe in free-speech..To agree not to disagree is normal..but to enforce one's perception upon others is not proper... I was disappointed that the answer by TunDrM was interrupted halfway..He shud hd been given the space to answer for this was a Q&A session, not a debate...
