Awesome. I am a Singapore born Muslim, educated in an Anglican School for 12 years and have multiple degrees and live in the West- I appreciate your open minded dialogue. Islam is a progressive religion and we should have an educated worldview that strengthens the practice of Islam. I recall being told as a child that the Prophet PBUH saying that we should seek knowledge. 😊

It's so refreshing to hear Prof Tajuddin's bold and multi-faceted points of view. I share his insights on seeing the bigger picture and be critically aware of the hidden agendas of those playing up controversial issues for their vested interests. I always felt alone among my community when I don't share their overtly racist sentiments nor believe the narrative that Malays/muslims in Tanah Melayu (especially) are under threat by the non-muslims/non-malays. Just like Prof Tajuddin, I also believe that the conduct of our Prophet was far from racism but one which exuded love, understanding, humanity and compassion and which, we should all uphold in our behaviour regardless of faith. For we are all human after all and to be human is first, to be humane to each other. Thank you Prof Tajuddin and Harith Iskandar for this wonderfully insightful podcast. I used to feel alone for having a different worldview from many of my Malay/muslim relatives/friends/ communities but not anymore. Malaysia is a beautiful multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi -religious country. Unity in diversity is our strength. So, let's not let anyone with extreme worldview and with hidden 'selfish political' agenda manipulate and control us. We can do better and be better if we are open-minded and always seeking knowledge and the truth by reading widely and cross-referencing from various sources before forming an opinion or making a judgement, treat each other right, with love, compassion and respect and we will sustain the beauty of a harmonious Malaysia.

Amin

Bang…isu hina islam hina Allah swt bukan isu baru start tahun ni bang…banyak kali agama islam ni dihina dicabar…pastu sampai bila kita nak memaafkan je…sekali kita memaafkan berulang kali lagi la agama kita dihina…orang akan nampak org islam ni lemah…sapa lagi nak pertahankan bang kalau bukan kita orang islam…macam mana kita nak menjawab nnti kat sana…betul islam suruh kita memaafkan seseorang…tapi islam bukan suruh kita jadi lemah bang…kita je yang menurut kita je yang mengalah…sampai bila bang…zaman sahabat jihad sampai syahid nak sebarkan islam…sampai kita takkan nak biarkan duduk diam islam dihina diperlekehkan…terpulang kalau rasa diri tu nak diam dan memaafkan…tapi jangan buat persepsi negatif pada yang punya tanggungjawab untuk pertahankan islam.

Alhamdulillah. Tqso much Harith for invinting prof tajuddin for sharing his thought about msian. Selama ni sy mmg follow Prof tajuddin, he is a rare malay muslim and has great wisdom. Sayangnya majoriti melayu tidak seperti beliau. Saya sendiri bukan lah melayu ttapi orang Asli yg memeluk agama islam.

My highest respect to Prof. Tajuddin. I appreciate the perbincangan yang cukup mendalam. One point that i am so agree to Prof is about ustaz. Selalu kalau ada orang kata dia mengkaji islam dengan mendalamnya, my impression is, hmmm orang nie maybe sangat aggressive, they cant tolerate other religion beside their own, they see every other human are dirty. Yes, because during my school time, thats what we heard from ustaz. We need more people like Prof. Tajuddin, to tell the truth meaning of mengkaji agama dengan dalam. We are building a nation, and this nation is the place we feel proud of. ❤

This intellectual intercourse is a must watch by every one. The extremists will be moderated. The ignorant will be educated. The religious seekers will be enlightened. The nation will be liberated. But sadly, we all know deep in our hearts, the damage is beyond repair and the regression is accelerating.
