Abdominal taping after your baby is born protects the muscles whilst they heal. In the same way that a cast would protect a break on your arm - the tape stabilises the muscles so that everyday tasks don’t over stretch the recovering muscles.
I would always recommend an assessment with a specialist physiotherapist before starting to tape. You will be taught strategies to create tension across your tummy gap. The taping works best when you engage the right muscles whilst you apply the tape.
I’m using Rock Tape, and recommend this application be worn for a minimum of 6 weeks; 3 days on, 1 day off.

I've been taping for DR/umbilical hernia over 4.5 years. Mostly consistent during pregnancy and then more lax during postpartum. I just used your instructions today and I think this was my best KT application. Thank you for the clear description of where to anchor.

Thank you so much for sharing :) I've been following your pilates for pregnancy series while living abroad and am looking forwards to your post natal series in a month or so too! I am just wondering how long/many days per week to keep the therapy tape on for? Thx Rach

Hi Rachel, sompleased you enjoyed it. Hope your pregnancy has been lovely. Taping I do 3 days on, 1 day off. Apart from sensitive skin - then 2 and 2. I recommend at least 6 weeks from when ever you start taping but better if you do 12 as takes you through early healing to tissue remodelling. Megan xx

Hey, if you have any overstretch then I’d say yes. And you really need to work those abs to help them recover and retrain xx

Do bands or corsets work as well, or is taping better?

And also, would two months after birth be too late to do this for 12 weeks?

It’s never too late! You’ll stabilise and air healing no matter how long. Tape is much more specific than binders or corsets x

Can you use this 1) if you're plus size 2) if you didn't find out you had a diastasis until 10 years later?

Hey, you can use this regardless of your size. There is benefit in training DR At any stage, but you would need to train and not just tape to feel a benefit x
