Your video's are by far the best at explaining what is happening and why with these storms. Thanks Levi!

Ryan Hall, Y’all Xtra is a excellent weather channel. I’ve been watching his vid for hurricane updates. Honestly does a better job than my local weather channel in Florida.

@@BuGGy2DaB Yeah, I’ve found Ryan Hall quite good, particularly for inland storms and tornado forecasts and warnings. In my book, Ryan is the best in that venue. The gold standard for tropical storms is right here with Dr Levi Cowan. I look at what others have to say about the tropics, but I hold out for Tropical Tidbits about the final word. Take care, and stay safe.
Levi, I don’t think you have any idea of the impact you have on people during an extremely stressful event in their lives. Your videos are just the best. Thank You!❤️

Wait a minute, I thought people online screaming "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" was a calm approach. I guess I've been doing this hurricane thing wrong for years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In Newberry Florida, 15 miles west of Gainesville. A lot of people are preparing for the storm.
Thank you so much for always presenting this info in a calm, objective manner.
Wow western Florida again. Prepare better than last year. Thank you Dr. Cowan

You are a voice of comfort in the face of uncertain and intense weather. The detailed explanations of what the atmosphere is doing and how it affects the storms is fascinating insight and deeply appreciated!
Thank you Levi for your hard work both in the past with your education and in the present with the efforts that bring this much needed information to the communities that need it.
Starting to look very serious for Florida

Yes, and ARE YOU CRAZY? I understand even the meteorologists and US service personnel have broken bones getting thrown around in the planes. And there’s quite a lot of….upset stomaches…from extreme turbulence. But yeah, I might be just as eager for a flight myself. But I’ve also chased tornadoes…..

It would be. But a counter-point to that is what happen to Dr. Jeff Masters in Hurricane Ivan(?) It sounded terrifying. Not to put too much of a damper on things but just wanted to give you info. Cheers!
Thank you from Tampa
Thank you Dr.!! Great information!
Thank you for the reporting 😊
Thanks for your detailed explanations!
Sage advice and pertinent information as always. I agree with the others: Your calm demeanor is a blessing. We are very, very grateful for you.
Couldn’t have clicked faster.
Having been a Caribbean boat Capt. for the last 45 years.. I have followed you for a long time.. retired now. But still follow.. SE. Georgie.. Gonna be interesting...
Levi, thanks for all your videos. They are very detailed and extremely informative. You are BY FAR the best at explaining the important aspects that we all need to know to prepare for these hurricanes. This video especially was absolutely key in explaining the ridge over the Bahamas and ridge line down the state of Florida. Your use of the European 500 mb steering flow graphics showing the hurricane going due north and not turning east earlier was spot on. Thank you.
Thank you as always for your work.
Any thoughts on Idalia back tracking and hitting Florida on the East Coast?

Excellent, thank you.
I sure hope you'll do another video this evening
Thank You Dr.Cowan.👍
I'm in Osceola county and we're the only county that has decided to keep schools open. Polk and Orange county have suspended school but us in the middle of Orange and Polk are still going. I need to check how far out the winds will expand.

Trust in the Lord.
With it's small core size, seems more likely that it will be able to intensify more rapidly, which would likely pivot it more to the right/East upon landfall. Since it's such a fast moving storm though, I'm curious about the severity of the surge. Typically stronger, slower moving storms cause more catastrophic surge, but like you said, this is in a wetland area, which is very vulnerable to this. I can't help but wonder if the intensity of Franklin helped to amplify the ridge, since Franklin intensified very rapidly. And I'd like to thank you, Dr. TT. You and I have the same Alma Mater, but I got my BS and then got my BS in Engineering. I'm in the western Florida panhandle, and your knowledge and attention to detail has helped me explain to my friends, family and colleagues what to expect, and everything in-between when it comes to hurricane season here in Florida. Thank you so much for what you do for us!
Im in Marathon Florida and idalia is making her entrance
You're the absolute best, thanks for all of your hard work.

I'd like to buy you lunch some day! Thanks for keeping it calm, and not bullshitting everyone.
Thanks
Looks like the record high water temps will make for a crazy hurricane season 🌀
Levi you the real MVP!
Please do a follow up video to this one including future track, and any loop back potential
Listening from Bluffton,SC
Thank you Levi. It would be nice in the future if you could have the hurricane tracks of the GFS & ECMWF models plotted over time to show disagreement between models and accuracy of the actual path. Looks like you already track the hurricane center in the “hurricane” tab. I just struggle flipping between 3 or 6 hour steps for each model. I know you have spaghetti plots images, but I can’t tell which of the dozens shown are the more accurate ones. I’ve noticed that the GFS has held a more westward position compared to the ECMWF, and that prediction has stayed west over the course of two days, which is interesting as we find out which model had a more accurate forecast in a few hours. Would be nice if that could be easily visualized
Thank you. So sick of future casts. Why can’t they just show the radar anymore? Smh thank you again so much!

Thank you for the updates. I greatly appreciate that you don't use fearbait to get views. Just facts.
Levi the Legend
100 mph already, rapid intensification begins
It already is a powerful storm, if getting a little bit more of storm surge in a bay in Northwest Florida Panhandle. The less affected west side, not the dirty east side of the storm. Remember that the waters get very dark colored and choppy, before wherever a hurricane is set to hit.
Stay safe everyone! Remember, the hurricane is NOT likely to stay at 85mph, should be more like a category 3 with catastrophic storm surge at landfall. Be prepared and heed orders. Praying for the best for y'all! Jesus saves and comforts (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)!
God bless you. Thank you
How big is this storm? What is the miles from the eye to the outer east side? No one is talking about this. It would help those in hurricane warnings could prep for the worst. Thank you.
Thank you im sure its too early im curious how likely it is to turn around
I can't believe you said Steinhatchee..Steeenhatchee but you already knew that
Thank you very much for these videos! Even though I'm living in Europe I watch these videos almost everytime since I'm intrested in the topic. I've got a question about hurricane Franklin since it shows on the NHC site that it's still going to be a storm around 55N35W. Is it likely that hurrican Franklin is going to affect the weather in Europe somehow?
@k.c1126
10 ай бұрын
Hurricanes like Franklin can indeed impact European weather, though they're more likely to be extra-tropical cyclones by that point.
I've seen some model runs curving the storm to the south after it goes back out to sea in the mid-atlantic. Can you speak to the likelihood of those possible solutions?
umm.. when you show the aircraft wind maps, can you please show the chart of what speeds the colors represent? thanks ...
Very active Atlantic Ocean. I'm watching 95L off Africa.
What about Florida's Southeast coast? I'm in Palm Beach County, and can't figure out if we will feel any effects. I know that we are very far away from the landfall area. 😬🙁😩
@k.c1126

Likely to get some isolated showers on the way up the west side... Depends on where and at what angle it crosses north of you.... But you might get some rain from it then. I doubt it will be serious impacts, but I would look out for possible heavy rain after landfall. ..
What is potential for moving east to Port Charlotte?
looking at the front above that will direct idalia looks like it will turn her sooner..i have watched them enough from living in florida..3:12 eastern time..just my observations.
Damn your mic’s good enough it picked up the bass from a passing car at 1:57
Beautiful name but I think it's safe to say they may retire the name after this :(
So here it is Friday and they say the remnants from short-lived Gert have turned back into a TS. How does that even happen? How is it when one of these storms dissipates to a TD or less, can it somehow keep a ember of a low or center and reform. Makes no sense to me.
What's recommendations for those on coast of weeki wachee FL. This is about an hour north of Tampa, and an hour and a half south of cedar key

It’s a mandatory evacuation area due to the expected storm surge.
full moon gonna affect tides, too ...
There is a defined eye, but it's too small for the radar to detect. Tornado damage, hurricane size.
Will there be rain bands near Broward county?

Hey Levi, fyi I just found out Steinhatchee is pronounced Steenhatchee. 🙂
Me downloaded
Steinhatchee is pronounced "Steenhatchee" 😂
Thank you, it's been raining so much this August -so the poor trees!!
Safety Third !!
Squally in SWFL. Be safe.
"ha ha, im in danger"
If your in a mandatory evacuation area and dont evacuate dont go crying on the news or social media in slow response time after it hits.
