My first reaction to this video in my recommended: "Wtf is this?" A few minutes later, I answered myself: "Possibly the best street music performance I've seen in my life."

Absolutely! The band is amazing and Erika’s delivery is truly from another gone by and cherished era of jazz

Look at how easy Ericka belts out this tune with no mic!, and then the band just kills it! wow what a great combo!

This whole band is a musical jewel.

Erika Lewis gives me the chills. It's like she's from another time. Her voice and her whole presence. The whole band is great. Glad I stumbled across this fine piece of Americana.

She looks exceptionally sexy here. No autotune or melodyne needed but I wish they would electrically amplify her voice with a battery pack. Can anyone imagine big band singers of the past trying to sing over the band without amplification.

What a band, what a voice. Her voice transcends the recording's poor audio quality. Just incredible.

No she wouldn't. Even into the 50's this music - New Orleans Style - was exclusively played by African Americans - although they weren't called that at the time. 'Whites' played Blue Grass and Dixieland a bit later.. Tuba Skinny would be unique - playing it in the 21st.

Nonsense. The Original Dixieland Jass/Jazz Band was all white, as were many other practitioners of New Orleans, "Chicago Style", and West Coast Dixieland.

Haha! Just wanted to write how deaply I´ve been fallin´ in love with that singing angel, as I read all the other comments... Competition is to big! :D

Ewan Bleach on clarinet is amazing, but the entire band is all together. LOVE.

Erika's got some pipes! She effortlessly sings over this loud acoustic band without using a PA system. Incredible.

That was good stuff, but I think what intrigued me was that, that it sounded... old, like the old scratchy recordings you hear but always wondered "what did it really sound like back in the days". She has a great voice and the band a great sound... I felt like I was hearing what I might of actually heard if I was walking down that street decades ago. It sounded old, but with clarity, genuine, real... like what it was meant to sound like. I guess that doesn't make any sense.

The lady who sings is physically beautiful and her voice is captivating.She is an inspiration to those of us who until we heard her pipes had nothing but baleful music.Now we have heard ecstacy that stirs our musical hearts to the hearing of more wonderful music from this band. Tuba Skinny is one of the best NOLA Jazz groups around. Singer is great, and I just love the style.

After a long time I 've been enjoying the works of the tuba skinny group , and the accuracy of every one of them , I feel like they 're like my family.

Awesome talent. Amazed at all the clueless people strolling by with No idea what it takes to master an instrument. Its a shame how the non-talents get promoted into "star" status, and these wonderful musicians barely get by.

They should play it like this all the time. This is my favorite version of this song by Tuba Skinny, it's fast, exciting and has that special prohibition era flavor that makes it truly a great performance.

I'd say you can hear the vinyl in her voice but this goes back to way before then. Just add a hiss with a few pops and you'd swear you're listening to 78 shellac

I have watched this video so many times. I always wanted to know the backstory of the young woman in the striped dress in the background...She and her trip to New Orleans have always intrigued me. I sincerely hope she had a great time and that she has had a happy life.

Great job recording the sound; this band really sets the standard for me.

I just do not understand how people can just walk by this absolutely fantastic music as if they are not even there. How can people not have enough respect to take 3 minutes out of their "busy and important lives" to stop and pay respect to such a great group of musicians. Just beyond me to show such disrespect. For god's sake people, stop, listen, tap your foot, swing your hips, have some fun !! You did come to Nawleans for this after all.

I love the music but also the way all your videos capture the joy they give the audience.

Srgbuffalo -- Erika has that smokey, funky quality to her voice that would make Ol' Satch and Bessie sit right up in their graves and shout "Yazzz, yazz, yazz !!!😃😃😃

The ambience....Horn instruments especially Tubas which we don't see very often. ..Erika's vocals.. .playing the yesteryear songs nails it. 👏👏

That's the time I actually started listening to this band. Right at beginning of covid. I'm from Dominican Republic and I couldn't get the song ( that's my baby now) out of my head. Everywhere I went I be singing this song, and people be looking at me in strangest forms

Ran across this band,what a stroke of luck. Erika kills it!! Wow and what a beauty. She sings the lyrics as if it's her story. "Yss sir that's my baby " great example. Can't wait to go see them in person.
