Shaye Conn on cornet (not a trumpet) & band director. Her grandfather, Al, was a sax player for Woody Herman. Her Dad, Joe, is a guitarist. She, I believe, trained as a classical pianist and came to the cornet later.

Thank you René, We were very happy with our positions, up front, leaning against the stage. Thinking back, after more than a year without live musical events, we were blessed being that close to Tuba Skinny, seeing and feeling their expressions, their dedicated work. In fact, we thrive in France, want to return many times to explore the different regions, on bicycle if possible.

I have 2 CDs in my car...need more! Great sound.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. My military-service-based PTSD is derailed, to a merciful extent, by the music of these fantastic folks...far better than the meds, & w/o the side effects!!! I'm a fan for life. 😘🎶🎵🎶🎵

If you mean, finding Tuba Skinny's recordings, CDs and some vinyls, you have to order them via Music Factory, www.louisianamusicfactory.com. If you live in London, there is a possibility, to get 5 or so from our treasure chest, at regular price, they are all virgin, in their original plastic wrapping. Actually, their best music is recorded live, shown on KZread, especially from France in 2018 and 2019. Dedicated recordings with high end video-cameras of their live performances are more live! Also you visualize their interaction. You find their upcoming schedule via their site. They will be playing in Bern May 7th - May 12th, 2024.

Spending the PM of Mardi Gras Day 2020 with them on U-Tube. After a lot of watching, convinced the beat is better with Erika and her Drum involved, singing or not. Now spending time trying to decipher Shay's 'Start' signals.

@@robertr6675 The singers and composers whose material they favor include Victoria Spivey, Jelly Roll Morton, Lucille Bogan, Memphis Minnie, Jabbo Smith, Georgia White, Skip James, Merline Johnson, Ma Rainey, Hattie Hart, Blind Blake and Clara Smith. All of those mentioned are "black" as you say, or African-American. To me that means Tuba Skinny is heavily influenced by so-called black music, particularly that out of New Orleans. Read up on the history of New Orleans jazz - it's fascinating.

boy, this whole set is SMOKIN' this is a 1920's jukebox come to life. like you find a thread of the Golden Era and you follow it.. one of their best sets yet.

Listening to this Makes the think of the ole Mafia Movies... And All of a Sudden you hear Robert Deniros Voice come in Talking bout the Days of when a Handshake was a Handshake Men were Men.. Ole Louis ran numbers for Bigg Vinny and Bumpy Face ran the Lower Bronx LOL Narrator... Love it...LuvUp

I was looking for memories of my Dad who sadly passed away a few months ago, he used to Love various types of Jazz, but I never got into it, so thought I would give it another go!! I stumbled across these guys, Well what have I been missing, these guys are brilliant, they play with so much passion and are so natural, love, love, love, them, shame I'm on the wrong side of the pond to see them live.

Pure talent, pure joy, wonderful

We saw them at French Quarter Festival 2018. They were wonderful! Bought several of their CDs, too!

In my opinion, this group is great and I often listen to them when I want to listen to good traditional jazz.

Shayne and Erika so beautiful and talented, all the boys just in perfect character. The synchrony, alone, of these artists is breath taking.
