Very good beginner's tutorial. I have the KO-3 "Master Kit," and I've been doing some shopping for another set of abrasive stones. Jende Industries manufactures their own resin-bonded abrasive stones that, while pricey - will last a very long time. Every time I sit down to use my KO-3 I am impressed all over again with this incredibly well engineered & manufactured system. Such a pleasure to work with something so well made! I've only done a handful of blades and some scissors, and still consider myself a beginner/learner. I'm going to finally pick up a set of their allen drivers that were out-of-stock for quite awhile, much easier to work with than the supplied standard allen keys, especially when clamping up, etc. I agree with you on their customer service, they are very good. Also, I understand that the "Atoma 140" is almost the gold standard abrasive stone for re-profiling and the harder steels, ceramic; and would likely work very well for putting the initial edge on your knife blanks. Take care...

Great video, nice sharp camera angles and impressive results on that knife. I just got delivery of my TSPROF K03 Pro the other day. Do you ever have to clean the strop plate you use, and if so, how do you clean it? Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Thanks for the review , I noticed when you sharpen on one side of the knife you sharpen from heel to tip and other side from tip to heel , because I have done this too , But I heard its better to keep the scratch pattern going the same way via both sides , the edge may get slick by diminishing the teeth of the scratch pattern, Do you have any insight on this ?

Deburing is the most important step and raising that angle just a touch is going to help get rid of that burr and the root burr. I doing something semi similar.

Yeah , TSProf actually recommends to raise the angle 0.1 degrees after every stone , I don’t do this but I like the idea of rising the angle 0.1 on the last stone , on a leather strop backing off 0.2-0.3 degrees will help from rolling the edge , I have been using bass wood with stroppy stuff or gunny juice diamond emulsion, with the wood you can keep it on you final degree with rolling the edge , My biggest problem with the K03 etc is hitting the tip and keeping it perfectly flat at the tip , I have to concentrate I don’t roll it .

I actually haven’t needed to replace any stones yet besides the corse stone. I replaced it with a hapstone brand and I’m happy with it. I also added a veneve resin bonded diamond stone at 800 grit, but I wish I got a 400 grit instead. I appreciate the comment buddy.

Awesome review, I'm really interested in getting one. I'm new to sharpening, but I have a large collection of Atoma diamond plates and Shapton glass stones. Can I use those with this platform? I just spent a small fortune on the stones and don't really want to buy new ones. Thank you!

As long as your stones are the 1" x 6" your good. Actually - I suppose you could even use larger, or smaller abrasive stones, provided the have the bevelled ends to fit the TSPROF stone holder. That's a wicked nice set of stones you have, wish I had more than just the standard diamond set that came w/ my TSPROF KO-3 Master Kit! They are quite an investment. Good luck with your sharpening...

If at all it's the best sharpener*, a device that makes your knife sharper. But kudos for using thin brochure paper for testing, because even a dull knife can cut printer paper.

Great video and i really like the sharpener but the one thing I think I would change is that the angle finder is made on the rod. It moving around and jarring around the whole time your sharpening cant be good for it.

@@bpcustomknives4392 I’ve watched other videos and how raising the angle by .1 helps the “micro bevel.” But it seems everyone has their own way of doing it. Some add .1 to every diamond stone swap out and others just do it on the last stone. But I’ve already sharpened 10 knives with this K03 Hunter Pro and I love it.

  • @bpcustomknives4392

@@SparticesIt just comes down to user preference. As you get more comfortable with the system you will definitely develop your own style of sharpening. Your edges will get sharper and sharper as you get better and better. The key is making sure your apex is clean and adding .1 to every stone is not 100% necessary, but I can see how that would help ensure that the stones are making contact with the apex of the edge. Cheers buddy 🤙

Us guys have an indescribable affinity for quality, fitment or ergonomics. Like the way a VW beetles door shuts, deeply pleasing and is a key reminder that no matter where you're from we can all appreciate the famous German standard of "Gootentight". Not unlike how most of us use in place of a torque wrench whilst ratcheting, wrenching.....crossthreading....wrestling something into submission...you know what I'm talkin about!
