Try This! Woodland Photography Woodland Photography - Composition with a Canon R5
Enjoy a dash of Poetry, Landscape Photography with the Canon R5 and Foraging ingredients to make your very own forest tea!
Wanting to develop your woodland compositions? During this video I delve deep into the woodland and explain how to photograph and compose trees in the forest and perfect those woodland shots. We all struggle with how to compose and take photographs of trees because woodlands can be so chaotic. It is not only about looking at the components of an image, it’s about making a deep connection with where you are and spending plenty of time there to really get to know the characters of the woodland. I also show you helpful techniques such as using a polariser and framing images with leading lines and varied subjects.
We then take a short break where I forage the ingredients to make my very own nettle and blackberry leaf tea. I want to continue this style of filming and vlogging, let me know what you think? I have really enjoyed adding a bit more of my personality with some creative writing and singing which is something I have previously experimented with on previous videos. I also really enjoy mindfulness and think it's a great tool to enhance your photography.
Finally, I also get to grips with my new Canon R5. What a camera to shoot with, I am super excited to learn and grow with this camera and I think it will really encourage me to get out more to photograph nature.
This film was recorded in my local forest in Wales, United Kingdom. You can support my channel by buying me a cup of tea. Every little helps!

Thank you! Such a kind comment and I'm glad you liked the content, I'm definitely finding my way with my filming and style. The tea was a welcomed break and I managed to come away with some raspberry leaves which I've dried and stored. Thanks for the support ☺️

Nice one again, love the poetry at the start... You are lucky to have such a beautiful place nearby. You are right we normally try to avoid having the sky in woodland shots; on the other hand I have found it sometimes works really well for adding atmosphere. Personal taste of course...

Thank you, glad you enjoyed my poetry. I'd like to continue writing and singing as time goes on. Yes I feel very lucky indeed 🙏 That is very true, Simon Baxter is a woodland photographer I follow and his latest view had lots of the sky and I was surprised to see it worked really well

Stunning presentation Suzannah, it's like a moment of tranquillity and peace watching you enthuse about a subject and place you obviously love so much. Love the vocals, love the words, makes the video truthful and whole somehow..complete I guess, do continue to develop this style. Glad to see you're finding your way with the R5 too, you'll be at one with it very soon I'm sure.

I shall, it's definitely more of my personality and want people to share my view and experience of nature. I am yes thanks, it's a good bit of kit. I want to try the focus stacking feature next, I think that will be a good tool to use

It's a forest called Wentwood in Wales, it's a very old and stunning woodland. I'm glad you liked the last image, took me a while to find the last composition 😅

I'm curious what camera do you use to film your videos - is it also a Canon? I imagine you're having to carry 2 tripods and 2 cameras at the same time.

I use an OSMO pocket and a monopod. But the monopod isn't very stable so will be switching to a lightweight tripod soon. I don't like to carry too much 😅
