Welcome to my take @ The Lake 🦀-so glad you found us! This channel is dedicated to sharing boatloads of information, new ideas and maybe some different twists on old ones about junk journaling, altered books, glue books, watercolor, and all kinds of other paper crafts related to those things. It’s geared for new junk journalers, but everyone’s welcome to play along. So, please: pull up a seat, find something delicious to drink and let’s hangout for a bit.

Love the tutorial and explanation Ker. I use other watercolor papers but Arches will spoil the hell out of you. Talk about a heightened experience. You go "I thought I was so bad at this but look how good this looks on this excellent paper"! The watercolors matter but the paper even more so. A mazing!

You have been SO patient with this class, lol. MUCH appreciated. I'm SO JEALOUS of the thunderstorms. I could sorta see the black skies in the distant south but they never came this far north 😩 I'm really happy to hear you're motivated to get crafty, that's fab news 🦀💜

Good morning Ker! 💜💚🖤 I’m super excited to watch this video and hear your thoughts on your new art goodies! And yes would love to see any and all of your fav watercolor (or any subject) books. Agree about watercolor white, I never use it because of the chalkiness. Although I do have some chalkier watercolor sets from Prima, maybe I should try it with those? I have recycled glass jars for my watercolor water, and I use mugs for coffee, but if I have my coffee mug on the right side of the table by my jars, I’ll be on auto pilot and just dip that ole brush right in the coffee before I can stop myself lol! So I’ve learned to now keep all drinks on the left side of my table! 🤣 Seeing you use these Kuretake Starry colors reminds me that I need to reorder a set. Love the flower swatches you painted - really shows the difference in the gold tones. ✨ Great side-blotting brush trick, haven’t seen that before. I tend to wipe off any extra paint/water on a drop sheet or altered book page or something, but I like your option because then you can save the paint on your brush! Totally agree about that “Cadmium Red” looking orange! That’s how it is on several of my watercolor palettes, and I just want a true, rich red. Your two watercolor pieces demonstrating the difference in papers are SO gorgeous! When you hold them together and they make like one big piece it looks like a super cool planet or something. Too cool! LOL about not using the brushes! (totally something I would do too!) 😂 This was awesome, thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything so well. I need to train my eyes to see yellow and am really looking forward to your watercolor tutorials! Sending lots of love and squeaky toy hugs from Sophia and I to you and the wonderful Miss Bitsy! 🐶💕✨🖌🎨🌈

Yes...in the zone/autopilot (kinda like grabbing brushes to paint, OMG 🤦🏻‍♀️) for sure, but again. Habits. the water jars are ALWAYS on the left...coffee: in the other room 😂🤣😂 SO glad to offer something NEW to the tool box (water blotting), that's always good news. I love W&N's Alizarin Crimson, however, it's not really a "rich red" it's pretty cool/on the blue side. I'm thinking W&N professional: Cadmium Red is "redder" but still a whisper on the orange side. The one that's here is called "Cadmium Red Pale Hue" and it's, of course, Cotman. Perhaps W&N professional "Winsor Red" is a good, rich, neutral red. Much rainy-day love from Bits n me to you and lil' Miss Sophia 🦀💜🖤🐾☔️
