Israel has long had a very strong lobby in the U.S. and some say the country has too much control over our politics. Standing up to Israel, in they way you would want, is far more difficult for a sitting president than you may know. There was once a time in this country, not that long ago, when saying anything negative about Israel was automatic political suicide. You would not get elected without supporting Israel. Some say they can even manipulate our elections. Or, at least have in the past.

I am tri-racial I'm black native American and white. So what I'm I then? I grew up with my grandparents who was native American and had to follow my native American family. And to this day I say I'm native American. On my dad side they are black and white. My my dad mother was half black and half white and some of them could pass for white people and look white too. But just like I said I grew up learning about my native American side on my mom's side. My grandparents didn't believe in doctors because my grandfather what is a medicine man and as children if we got hurt or anything my grandparents took care of us, using different herbs and medications that my grandfather made. So I still go to pow wows and get my blessings from the chief at all the pow wows I attend. So what I do is no one's business but mine... Vote Blue please to get out all these racial people who believe in just the white racists. We are all mixed with something. I am Navajo 3/4 and Irish 1/4, grew up and raised the Navajo way on the Navajo Nation. My maternal grandfather who was Irish died before I was born so didn't get to know him at all. I am a registered member of the Navajo Nation but also a citizen of the United States. We Navajo overwhelmingly vote Blue and in close elections like in AZ can be the ones who tip the election to a Democratic win. First Lady Jill Biden visited here last year for two days discussing women's issues with our Vice President who is female and female members of our tribal council.

I really don't like the handling of this new paradigm for the census. As a Hispanic individual who's not ignorant of my background, I'm very aware that we have White(European/MENA), Black(Sub-Saharan African), Asian(East/South East) and Indian/Indigenous/Native American individuals and communities as well as individuals and communities of mixed origin from 2, 3, or more. I've always heavily disliked taking Demographic Surveys, which place Hispanic or Latino as a racial category, and/or then say pick one. I've always preferred surveys like the Census, which have Hispanic/Latino as a separate question and let you pick as many as apply. Because A) mestizo and mulatto people and others of mixed origin can't easily pick one. B) I've considered Hispanic or Latino, not a race, not an ethnicity really even though I preferred it to race, but as a pan-ethnic, pan-national, multi-racial, cultural label, describing the people/peoples of Latin America, a region marked by colonization and settlement by countries of Romance origin, particularly Iberia. 3) Another thing I find interesting is that often, these surveys (when they clarify) limit the Native American/Indian racial option to just those Indigenous communities that are of the United States, so: Cherokee, Seminole, Chippewa, Cree, etc. etc. And not: Maya, Aztec/Nahua, Inca, etc. Which, while idk how the Native communities of the US might feel about that, is confusing for Hispanics/Latinos of Native or mestizo or otherwise mixed backgrounds. The Census officially turning Hispanic/Latino and MENA into separate racial categories is, likely unconsciously, giving in to the framing of religious zealots, xenophobes and other bigots who see White/Caucasian not as an inclusive racial category which includes all those of Afro-EurAsian (Old World) origin that have Western Eurasian admixture (Europeans/North Africans/West Asians/South Asians and parts of Central Asia) but as an exclusive pseudoethnic/pseudoreligious racial category more akin to the term WASP (White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant) and those seen as WASP-adjacent. This narrower view comes from a history of discrimination of Catholics and Muslims in the US for having different beliefs and having a different ethnic background. Personally, I would much prefer a return to the previous racial categories. I'd be interested in the addition of more granular questions, perhaps a regional origin, so if you marked a given race: select all that apply:

Just wanted to clarify, Hispanic refers specifically to language (Spanish) as the primary spoken language meaning Spaniards would be Hispanic but Brazilians would not. Latino refers to Latin America and would include Brazil, but not Spain. I believe the term David intends is Latino.

Those definitions are confusing because, according to most anthropologists and sociologists now, race doesn't not really exist. There is more diversity among people of a single defined racial category than there is between categories.

I'm 70% North West, but suspect my mom was part French. Just wondering if there was a test that can break it down more. There was a time when I would have said I'm half German and about half English before testing. Now, I know it's 70% NW European, 12% Irish/Scottish/Welsh, 8% Eastern European, 5% Nordic, 2.4% North African, and 1.2% West African. You might have some surprises on yours, too.
