Thank you so much for this. Although I have been a practicing Buddhist for 16 years, I was raised in the Church, had a preacher Grandfather, went to a Christian high school, and majored in Religious Studies. I know my Bible. I know the tenants of Christianity. I have been increasingly heartbroken over the splintering of my family over this man. I can see just how shaky my parents faith truly is because of the hold Trump has on them. They have been more than willing to compromise their morals, ethics, principles, spirituality, integrity, character, and voluntary hypocrisy in order to exalt this Man and validate and justify his every transgression in order to paint him as this perfect, sinless, Savior who walks on water. He could literally shoot someone and my family will excuse it. They give him money. They cry over him. I'm just standing there in shock, with insulted intelligence, as I watch helplessly as he takes them down with him. I don't know my family anymore. I have nothing in common with them. My Mom will look my gay cousin and I, her daughter, in the eyes... tell us she loves us.. then vote against our safety, autonomy, and human rights. I don't know how to process this and I'm failing at navigating around it. It's rotting our humanity to the core and I am devastated.

I suspect that he truly does not understand what he's done; that perhaps he is incapable of doing so. I still hope he is convicted and sentenced, but I see that as a necessity to keep him from doing further harm, and to discourage others from following in his footsteps. Or the Wizard Saruman from Lord of The Rings - Return of The King. He allied himself with Sauron, The Dark Lord, and when he fell; Saruman lost all his power! Save one, his hypnotic voice to bewitch, enchant, and entrance man and beast into committing heinous acts of violence against others often with no memory having done such murders ! Now granted, Rumph is no Wizard, but his oratorical skills stem from Der Fuhrer; Little Caesar Mussolini, and The Imperial Japanese Emperor-Hirohito; additionally, he shares traits with Cult Leaders like Jim Jones [ Jonestown Massacre] and David Koresh -possibly]. Whenever a cult and it's leader collapses, it's never good for their followers, lots of innocents get hurt badly, and many die ! Beware of smooth as silk speakers !

Reverend, I try to be religious or Christian and fail every day, but people like these grifters who call themselves pastors or faith leaders who back this man as a Christ-like figure, it makes it easier for me to question the existence of God and Jesus. It saddens me that everyone, or everyone should, see through this as a money-making grift. I considered myself more agnostic than religious, but sometimes I see something happen that I can only explain through God, but then Trump happened and the Christian right, the party of morals and family values, backed this man, that has shown he has neither, and I began questioning again. It is where I have stayed since his election. I cannot imagine what will happen if he gets into office again.

I must say that I am discouraged by other Christians at times, but God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit have not changed and we should not doubt what they are about no matter how others fail. We must keep our eyes on the Holy Trinity because they are the ones that loves us, and pray for the ones that have been seduced by worldly opinions. chaned

@@judybaker5282 I wholeheartedly agree, my issue is that you never heard anyone say that Trump is a man of God, until he ran for president, so that the Christian right would stand for him without question. He is a man that said he had nothing to ask God for forgiveness for and never had. What prize is there if this is supposed to be the man God has chosen, someone with hate in his heart. It is not a religion that would bring in the non-believer and the fact he acts more like the anti-Christ, it is scary they refuse to see it.

I can think of little that angers me more than those who push Donald Trump as annointed by God. When I see well-known preachers endorsing him, I ache for those turned off from God due to that endorsement. So many people labeled all Christians as hypocrites due to those endorsements. Someone stated that he believed Trump's running for office as a test. If it is, much too many have failed the test. Christianity should not be in the realm of political endorsements.

❤Thank you for being a good pastor or Reverend Ed. You remind me a little bit like James Martin Father James Martin he's so sweet I'll tell you one thing I'm 63 I was born gay a woman it's been a hard hard road undescribable been shunned from my whole family because I have to stay out of the closet. I went in and out the closet so many times but you never please them anyway. I realize who am I doing this for when God knows who I am God created me just like this I didn't ask for this journey and it showed me oh my God I'm doing this for the appearance of righteousness sake cuz inside I don't feel righteous at all I'm just going through the motions America has a way of indoctrinating everybody. I wrote this poem in my last poem I've wrote several poems and songs over the years but this last appointment 2001 was the best. I always used to and I still believe that there's a holy Spirit of some sort I don't know if God exists or not but cuz really nobody does. At this point it's longer but I'm going to take the middle part and listen. In the storms of life is where a man is truly made or souls are being perfected restored and saved I will wait on you o Lord and know that you are near I won't trust in what I see ahead or even what I hear I hear you're still small voice telling me to be calm to rest assured in your peace and be still. 🙏 And I use that as like a really good sign I think it's pretty true. But thank you for being here and all the other pastors David Gushee, Stan Mitchell and there's so many more. Remember and Reverend John Shelby Spong. That man saved my life his debates over homosexuality save my life and Matthew Vines Thank you Ed though You've been here too And if I find Jesus I'm going to tell him all about these guys that were here for us the outcasts in the desert times. God bless you 🙏😇
