After watching this program I went out to look at my trucks exhaust. Mine looks almost new, except for some dirt. It's a 17 year old Tundra with 190K on it.
Perfect timing. Just as I caused an exhaust leak trying to install new headers
Very helpful. I believe my 2015 Ram 2500 is a turbo back. It’s straight pipe and I would like to go with a full 4” pipe instead of the 3” for better air flow.

Could you do a review video for 3rd gen v6 Tacoma with true duals? Awesome video great information!
Manufactures switched to 400 series stainless steel many years ago, Aluminized steel will also rust just like 400 series stainless steel will rust. Muffler shops use mild steel because most do not own the expensive equipment it takes to bend stainless steel pipes. If you really want the best exhaust Borla is the one you want, they use T304 stainless steel, that is the very best you can use for an exhaust and it is also the most expensive.
great video, lots of good pointers!
It’s called scavenging not back pressure! To increase your scavenging you install a smaller diameter pipe to increase velocity but then it’s not as free flowing but if you go to big then the exhaust slows down reducing the scavenging effect so you need to size your exhaust properly for the horsepower you are putting out!

Correct. I have found on my factory 350 and 454 a true dual 2.5 inch exhaust with either no cats or high flow cats with a good muffler makes them very happy. Not too big and not too small.

I think I'm having issues because truck 2500 has the two pipes coming from the front of the truck then goes into the muffler but only one pipe come out of it. Does that sound right
1) it's usually below the truck 2) it's made of metal 3) it makes things louder or quieter 4) never put an aftermarket exhaust on a V6, unless it has a turbo too 5) they can be shiny and not shiny
Love the fact we pretty much got a sneak peak of taylers truck with the wheels on lmaooo it looks really good tho

I'm picking up what your laying down. Especially when you said it could be less expensive. I'm wanting my truck to sound good but I have seen how much exhausts can be.... Just bought a 2023 silverado 5.3 RST Z71. DO A VIDEO PLEASE....
So if I’m looking for better sound, a muffler delete would be a simplistic option with a good return? What are the long term cons for a muffler delete ? I would be doing this on a 22 Silverado 6.2
I like your video. 😮 what type of system do you think that would sound awesome in my car. I have a 2019 dodge charger daytona scat pack.
Hahaha , yea I’d say we are putting the DPF system back on that truck too if it was being filmed in my shop. 😂
I have a 304 stainless carven competitor series catback . love the sound
Very Good video...
Aero is everything I need to know. Sounds the best.
My 2021 Trail Boss has an exhaust flapper valve. What is the purpose of this, and is it needed? I wanted to just do a simple "budget" exhaust, replacing my stock muffler with a Borla ATAK, and not sure if that flapper needs to stay on or not.
I have a Chevy Tahoe 2007 with a 5.3 I want to do a new exhaust with new headers what do you recommend
The aluminized steel is already coated before the exhaust tube is made and yes it’s a tube it’s measured from the OD, not the ID like a pipe. And it’s nickel and cadmium with silica, also the stainless is manufactured the same way, it’s coated when the rolled steel is made.
I have to disagree with you about header length. Long tube headers are generally much better for low end power. It has to do with the negative pressure wave traveling backwards up the header tube to the exhaust valve. When this wave arrives as the exhaust valve is opening it helps to pull the exhaust out of the cylinder and in turn pull the fresh intake charge in. The longer the primary tube = the longer for this negative wave to arrive at the exhaust valve and thus lower rpm.
I just use a 3 foot long cherry bomb plus a hollowed cat. My Dodge Dakota screams.
A T304 SS exhaust is extremely expensive, but it’s the last one you’ll buy. Unless you go changing shit that prevents it from routing and hooking up the way it did originally.
Doing an axle dump, 1-2 single chamber into an x pipe, then turn down tips.
Diesel exhaust will only change power when you put it through a weight loss program.

Is 3” tubing too much for a stock 5.3 planning on making my truck a true dual long tubes carven r exhaust?
Borla cat back sounds the best
So should I get mid headers because I want the exhaust to come out underneath both doors?
What do you think of the cherry bomb exhaust ?
Do you know if ice crystals will stick to paint if anti freeze coming out of the exhaust when cold,it 2 inch think from pipe to bumper,covers camera in 5 minutes
I've always understood that true dual has better flow and better power. What are your thoughts on x pipes

If I remember correctly x pipe is your higher HP engines and H pipe is more for factory engines
Glass packs are the way to go lol

Good video, not building anything crazy just want an exhaust and intake for a 23 ram 1500 Limited. Isn’t it true that it makes no sense unless it has a tune? The manufacturer designed it a certain way, that changing these components could actually decrease performance. There’s more airflow with an intake and exhaust good for the engine without a tune? The airflow sensors are calibrated for certain amount of airflow, might not be worth doing anything.
@modernbassheads5051
5 ай бұрын
If you don’t have a turbocharger in the vehicle don’t worry about shit like tunes 😂 especially on a slow ass ram 1500, get the exhaust and a high flow cold air intake (not K&N they’re trash) and focus on the sound , you ain’t seeing any performance benefits on a naturally aspirated motor. Once you get a diesel or something with a turbo is when tunes start becoming important
Back pressure does matter. There is such a thing as too much "free flow". There have been many Dyno tests done with different exhaust setups and bigger isn't always better when it comes to exhaust pipe for HP.
If youre planning on running headers on a 2wd where the steering shaft is alot lower. Please for the love of god make sure the steering shaft doesnt rub, because you will suffer tremendously if you dont

To paint the inside of exhaust... Install steel exhaust, start engine, feed continuous spray paint into intake. About 12 cans.👌
@crazyDIYguy

You can do this with regular house paint too, preferably latex. Don't worry the internal combustion and valve action will atomize the paint. Also there's the added benefit of increased compression from internal paint layers. (Funnel, brake booster, entire f*"kin gallon of house paint.)

Hello..just received your "Like" of my Response. Thanks...1 thing I will add that is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT with street exhaust systems- Pipe size..too large a pipe will slow exhaust Velocity-which is performance LOST....Exhaust gases slow as they cool...Apply this Fact and help performance ....don't ask how many MPG in Silverado 2500HD Ext cab >8.1l I gets now...almost TWICE what other 8.1l owners communicate...partly due to exhaust system....tried ALL Kinds of combinations....seems to be very impressive...but, a HEAVY FOOT CAN ALSO GET ME 7-8 mpg...LOL!...

I've got a 08 sierra SLT with the 5.3... I usually have them cut the muffler off and run true duals from the front all the way back just leaving the converters on.. this time the guy had a really nice muffler which has a decent sound to it but not as deep as I'm used to.. it's still a true dual from from the front back but it's now run into a dual in dual out muffler!? Is that still considered true duals ? Is it hurting the flow like that ? Should I take it off and run like I usually do? I've never had a dual in dual out muffler. It has a nice drone to it but not as loud and I like a little pop and crackle with the deep sound of the way I always run it.. should I go back to the way I used to cuz this is hurting my flow or what? Any info from anyone would help.. thanks 🙏
@JG-kv4oi

A dual in / dual out muffler is best for performance as it throws both exhaust banks together and helps to balance mismatch in backpressure from bank to bank as your drivers side exhaust is longer than your passengers side. And it does mellow out the sound which you don't care for. 5.3s are hard to get a lot of sound out of with the 2 cat set up and especially the dreaded 4 cat set up.

@@JG-kv4oi makes sense now that u explained it to me.. thanks..! I have a 2000 Chevy z71 single cab long bed.. when I bought it , it already had true duals and the pipes were run at an angle out the side with the tips turned sideways making it look like they were cut off with the lines of the truck.. loved the way it sounds.. I haven't drove it in a week or 2 but crank it up and let it run about every couple days.. I can't remember which but when it does start to change tone and crackle just a little before changing gears one side does it before the other side.. if they were run out the back prob couldn't notice but def can with them run out the side.. doesn't bother me but I guess its the diff length of pipe u were talking about. Was hoping to run converters back just like it on the GMC but the GMC has em out the back.. they both have k&n intakes with edge CTS programmers. But now after hearing from u I think I'll just leave the GMC alone if u say it's better , and I can't def tell each pipe are on the same tune when listening to it.. don't hate it but I wished it sounded a little more like the 2000. The 2000 has 0 drone which I like about the GMC lol. So both diff guess I'll leave em be.. thank u again for the quick reply..
