Have owned this coming up on a year now, and I’ll disagree as far as the day-to-day. It’s wonderful. It’s not THE Holy Grail of bikes for most, but for some, it’s fantastic :)

Now you speaka my language. I love this one. I have a Thruxton with this engine in it and it is a wonderful machine. I did put handlebars on mine to make it a little more comfy over the straight stretches. My only real issue with it is the grips get a little buzzy over 75 mph. Not really a great highway bike, but that's where the HD shines. I'm not sure how well this one would be for long off road missions. By all accounts, they've really given it a taut suspension for good road manners. None of the diving and wallowing you tend to get on something engineered to bounce over ruts and logs. That's okay as I'd mostly use it on road anyway. I just love its look. Used to be that Triumphs all had really undersprung, underdamped suspensions. I was actually surprised when I demo'd my Thruxton. It was too stiff. I put 5w oil in the forks and put a set of Wilburs touring shocks on the back and it's blissful now. I suspect this Scrambler fork might react a little nicer to undulations with a lighter weight fork oil too. You should try it's little brother the 900 Scrambler. It's lighter, lower, and considerably less expensive.

Lovely review Alf. It’s really is a beautifully put together machine. I’d love one in my garage alongside my T100. Better than an RnineT Scrambler? I reckon. More features but not quite as good looking.

I’m looking for a scrambler style bike. I have a T120, but it is too low for me (I see that now). The bike’s height is 790 mm from the seat to the ground and it’s too short. I thought about the BMW R nine T Scrambler or this one that you tested here. The thing between this two bikes is that this one has a chain for the final transmission and the Nine T has a drive shaft (no need for regular maintenance). The bike engines, the boxer twin with 1170 cc and this Triumph with a parallel twin of 1200cc, are both excellent options. I have no intentions of taking either of them to off-road trails, I just like the aesthetics and the looks, but I will ride them constantly on asphalt , and sometimes the roads are in bad shape, so I’m looking for a bike that has a little more suspension travel than the normal road bike, for the purpose of comfort. I value this big engines because even if I don’t need and use all the power they can deliver, I appreciate to have it, as I’m a fan of torquy engines. I love to feel the immense power they have along the whole revs range. I’m afraid that the triumph’s XC Scrambler engine, doesn’t have a lot to give on the top end, but after all, these are naked bikes, not suited for high speed rides and I don’t want to alter their nature with the installation of large windshields and panniers. That’s just not my project. I’m looking for a big bike with a retro (or classic) style that brings along with it some technical and technological features of today’s engineering in terms of security, reliability and built quality. I think that both these bikes I referred are capable options for that. I know that the Triumph scrambler 1200 XC has a better suspension set than my T120, a different mapping of the Hp engine that is equipping these two bikes, and a slightly bigger gas tank, but I wonder if it’s going to feel different enough and make me decide for another Triumph bike, or if for certainty I should make a more radical change and go for the R Nine T? That’s my sweet dilemma 😂 I’ve ridden the BMW and I enjoyed it well, the constant raw grunt of the engine and solid construction made a hell of a ride. Very confidence inspiring bike. I’m waiting for the Triumph’s dealer call in order to appoint the test ride of the XC. After that I will be capable of solving all doubts and make a decision. In the meanwhile, I ask, any thoughts about options that I didn’t mentioned? I Would be glad to know your opinion on this. Thank you. Be well and ride safe ✌️✌️

Done over 5000 miles this year on my XC, I liken it to a Land Rover Discovery, can do most things very well. Sits at 75mph comfortably loaded with luggage, loves twisties, filters well as you can see over traffic, eats up trails, I don't do full-on off road and gives great MPG. I'm only a 29-inch inseam, with a low seat, decat to cool her down, and better road tyres she's a keeper. The most fun bike I've owned and would disagree with Alf, as a day-to-day bike she's excellent.

@@HughtubeProduction John for me it works just fine, I do three main tours each year and a couple of hundred miles on a Sat. its no Tiger 900 GT Pro, the wind knocks the bejesus out of you and you need to carry luggage one side and on rear seat so if you take a pillion not the best. If I did more touring I would change for a Tiger but whilst functional its just dull, whereas the Scramble is sexy and turns heads

It looks nice but really is just a fashion bike/steve McQueen wannabe if you know what I mean and in reality probably less than 5% of its owners would ever take it off road and for most riders in England certainly there's very few places to ride off road legally anyway. I live in Worcestershire and there's just 1 Green lane that's less than a mile long and that's about 40 miles away. If you did want to go offroad then either the Honda AT or Tiger 900 Rallye pro would be a better choice IMO. Nice review though, I've just found your channel and am enjoying watching your vids on a wet Sunday Afternoon👍
