Triumph Scrambler 1200 maintenance and diagnostics: using DealerTool

Do you have the spanner of doom displayed on your instrument panel?
If so, this is the video for you.
DealerTool is a cheap and easy solution to being able to access your ECU to check fault codes, change or reset parameters and perform services and routine maintenance.
I bought DealerTool for my Triumph Scrambler 1200, although it works with all Triumphs and you can use the same tool on multiple bikes.
In this video I explain and demonstrate how to connect to your ECU and change settings on your bike, and perhaps most importantly, how to reset the "spanner" service icon that appears on your instrument panel.
DealerTool is a UK based company. The package costs £60 and includes the dongle to connect to your bike and the software which you download. You will need a laptop running Windows 10 or later.

Interesting stuff...will soon pay for itself and looks really easy to navigate. The one thing I will want to understand if I get a Scrambler is the valve adjustment...I just cannot accept that people pay up to a thousand pounds for the big service, there must be a way of doing it yourself!! Your right about touring,the gs Ktm etc are getting too big I have an old road glide but only because my wife loves the comfort,but I would happily set off to the alps on my t140 ,now that would be an adventure 😂

Glad you enjoyed it. Is there something similar available for your Pan America? I assume that has similar issues of needing access to the ECU to diagnose and reset things.

@@SongsFromTheSaddle Presumably there will be and maybe I'll get around to making that investment in technology in the future. However, for my 1991 PD06 TransAlp along with my "Newbie" 1973 Dneipr MT-09, I guess I'll just have to continue to go with my gut instincts to sort things whenever issues appear? That approach has worked well for me, for a very long time. 😆
Interesting vid Simon, it does look quite user-friendly but for me I can't help but feel that having a computer in my garage would push me nearer to an electronic black hole which is why I stick with older machines.
I have a 2022 Bonneville T120 purchased new, in California, USA. Will this dealer tool work on it?

DealerTool works on all the Triumph models
I've used it once before.....and now, this second time, the spanner icon will not disappear. (scratching my head here)
Customer support for this tool is sorely lacking. I've downloaded the software, drivers, updates, etc. and the application still refuses to launch.

I can't comment on that as I've never had an issue with it. Always works faultlessly for me.
Through no fault of my own, acquired a 2013 Triumph EX 1200. Doing a major rear brake rebuild. No fault of DealerTool, I blame Triumph for making it necessary. First and last Triumph I will ever own. My next moto will be an 80's or 90's Honda, under 1000cc. The acme of motorcycle design, function, and ownership. In my opinion, yes.
