I have watched many videos of this village but, you are the first one to show the souvenir shops! I love the miniature houses with real straw roofs. You took many good shots of the houses too. Thank you from New Mexico, USA.

oh really? I did see some other video, just to review, but I didnt realize that. yes, I try to give new perspectives to my viewers.
I'm writing this from Poland (Chopin's country) because I'm shocked at how similar our architecture is! Mountain villages in Poland once looked identical! Unfortunately, people replace old houses with new ones, and only in some places (e.g. the Bieszczady Mountains) have entire towns of this kind been preserved. We have a huge tourist town with similar architecture called Zakopane (literally: buried in the snow). If you ever want to see Chopin's places, maybe you will find time to see a mountain village? Zakopane is already very touristy - it is a resort with hotels, but smaller towns have their old charm 😊❤
Love watching your video's, Your English is so fluent and You went to such a beautiful place 😊You explained about it so well. You're the best! Thank you so much Taji-san for an amazing trip. Be safe and God bless 🙏🏻❤️

What a wonderful trip, thank you for taking us with you. The views are dreamy! It is also very nice that you show recording of people speaking Japanese. I'm learning the language so hearing it here gives me another opportunity to hear native speakers in real situations.
Thanks 🙏 for sharing your experience with us appreciate ❤
My son was just explaining how energy to heat homes in Japan is incredibly expensive so I must prepare myself with lots of wool clothing to stay warm .

What a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing this. 😇
What a beautiful village! I haven't lived in a place with snow for over 25 years, so I like to look at it, but that's it! haha! Very interesting the different aspects of Japan, as you said, from beaches to snow. And your meal looked interesting how you cooked it at your table. I really enjoy these types of videos Taiji, so thank you for letting me experience a bit of your home country. 🙂
The roof seem to be put to installed as they are in the west although thatch is more common then straw. Thank you from Idaho,USA.

Thank you for sharing! Such a beautiful place! The structure of that roof is amazing. All those logs are tied together, that must require not only craftmanship but knowledge too! What is the life expectancy of such a roof? Here we also have some traditional roofs made of reed, they last surprisingly long.
@taijiskitchen
Жыл бұрын
yes, most defiantly! as I read, the roofs need to be redone every 20-30 years.
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing your trip. 😊🌻❤️

Your videos are very helpful and thoroughly enjoyable. Once you are home would you consider doing some lessons about how to combine different containers to create a pleasant presentation of Japanese food? Learning to enhance the visual presentation is difficult for people raised in western art. Thank you again for such lovely videos.
We got -16 celcius temperature in Michigan, USA. This video was fun to watch, perfect timing 😊

wow, compare to that, its of course not that cold, lol.
Wow! This was a beautiful video! Thank you for the experience of the journey to this village through your eyes! Though I laughed when you said it was cold. It doesn't look like it could be that much colder then -5C. The sidewalk was slushy so to me that's quite warm. I'm from Canada; last weekend was about -29C with the windchill, now that's what I call cold!
@taijiskitchen
Жыл бұрын
well, ya, compare to Canada, its not that cold at all, lol.
Shirakawa-go is on my list of places I wanted to visit. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of snow (it's nice to look at, but I don't want to be out walking around in it - I guess being a Swede and having to deal with Swedish winter has turned me off, haha) which is one of the reasons why I keep putting it off. One good thing to come out of covid though is the realization that life is short and that I need to stop putting things off until "later" so I will definitely make sure to visit in the near future.
@taijiskitchen
Жыл бұрын
well, Shirakawago is also beautiful, whatever season you visit. i do agree about covid. thats also the reason I am making these videos now!!
From the US. I love this video, it’s one of your best! 😊 I like how you explain how to get to the destination. I like how you show us around and show us some of the historical artifacts, including the houses. I love the scenery. No need to apologize for slurping! I do have one question: could you please explain what you were doing at the shrine? What is Shintoism? I hope you keep making videos. You are a gifted creator.
@taijiskitchen

Hi and thanx for your compliment!! to answer your question, pls wait for 2 weeks or so, I am making a video exactly on that topic, Japanese religion!! you'll get all you need to know about Shintoism!!
Thank you for the video. Very informative. I had a question: Did you go there just for the day, or did you rent a hotel to spend the night ?
Great video! I enjoyed see the homes, what is their heating system?
@taijiskitchen
Жыл бұрын
thanx! the heating is the fire in the middle, called Irori. but nowadays of course normal electric or gas heater.
Hi, what a beautiful video of shirakawa go… may i asked you, what month exactly when you go there?cause i’m planning to go on 20s February, thank you in advance ☺️
Taiji, do you know how the houses were heated traditionally or how they are heated now? Thanks for another excellent episode!
@taijiskitchen

in the old days, it was done by the fire in the middle, called Irori. but nowadays of course normal electric or gas heater as well.
Hi love your video ! I will going on late February 24 will there be snow ?

I cannot guarantee it, but in most years, yes. skiing season goes usually in this area until mid or sometimes late March.
But, otherwise, I can always come back by myself. I‘d love to see that night sky.
@taijiskitchen

ja ein paar stunden würde eigentlich reichen, es ist schon kleine Dorf. ich war da nur 5 stunden.
Do you think it would be easy to get off at Suganuma and then continue to Shirakawa-go? Or would it be hard to get a bus from Suganuma?
Hi, is Early April still snowing? or already melt? thanks in advance.
👍
Which month we can see the snow fall here?
When was this? We are going to Takayama after Christmas and would like to make a side trip to Shirakawago, but not if there's no snow.
