Cheers Mate. You give simple direct answers, no wasted words, or self aggrandising fluff. One of the things I would find useful is a review of the media management export process. Particularly export options with handles. I and another editor have pretty much given up on export with handles. Or archives with handles. Which is a real hassle. I expect I am doing something wrong. Unless it is a long standing bug.

I don't regret assigning my buttons to move clips left and right without command+shift. It means I lose the nudge feature, but I honestly don't use it, and when I do, it's in the Fairlight page and it isn't affected. It also means I can keep my left hand on qw which I use to trim to start or end respectively. It's not a big change, but it's saved me a ton of time. I learn so much from watching these, and I thought I knew a lot.

Very useful advice, when you work for a client and go through many versions you have to be an orderly person otherwise you risk superimposing new changes on old work. Thanks for this video.

Glad you are back making videos regularly. You are always very insightful. Could you tell me why you use w for your version numbers instead of v? Also, how do you deal with different renders of the same timeline (presumably with the same timeline name as you demonstrate) that are different aspect ratios, resolutions, etc?

I actually duplicate the timeline and increment number version to the old version, and in the name of the new duplicated timeline I just delete the "copy" tag. This way, I don't have to create a new task in the batch renderer, but only use the already created tasks. It's just a render with a new name. By the way, I use the more widely accepted naming convention for versions "_v01, _v02, etc". In general, your approach makes sense, thank you.

I used the combination of date and version naming format for years until just recently, but I realized it can actually get confusing at times. For example "V" could be mistaken for "Video" instead of "Version". I also usually duplicate a timeline multiple times per day, so when someone else takes over the project, it could be unclear why it jumps from v3 on today's date to v1 for tomorrow's. Avid Assistant made the suggestion of using letters instead, which made a lot of sense. My timeline names are like this now "timeline_231007_B". So B means it's the second version created on that date.

@@pooyanmanoochehry2629 in Common naming convention "v" always for versions. The master file cannot have a "Video" tag for no reason. And only if video and audio are in separate files the master file is tagged with the word "Video" but not with the letter "V".

@@CreativeVideoTips Well they will never get the high end long form post market if they don't implement a few things like that. That and lack of a clip mixer or at least separate tracks in the inspector for audio clips.

Started watching, decided to come back later, when fully alert. First couple of examples were hard to follow. My bigger monitor might help. You could help by slowing down in the step by step sections. Others may not have a problem following your mouse moves, but I sure do.

@@ontheruntonowhere Yes, using the gear icon is possible, but it is awkward. I often have to view a video more than once. Less often if the creator uses a coloured dot over the cursor and moves it slowly . Even then, when the destination is reached, it has to be readable, so a zoom should be used, but I don’t see either often enough.
