If anyone is curious, the term Ustad they use to refer to Bob is an honorific term traditionally meaning master, or expert artist. It is more commonly understood today to refer to a respected teacher.

This kept bringing tears to my eyes, although I'm not totally sure why. People discovering the joy of expression in a medium they hadn't tried before, partly. Also, it was so touching to see people enjoying Bob Ross, sensing his sweetness and kindness, even though they don't speak his language. It was interesting to see how each person's artwork had a different look even though they were following the same instructions.

Being born in the 70s everyone I knew watched Bob Ross on PBS. I believe I can speak for him here, and say he would be so honored and awe struck that his work inspired you all here. You all actually did amazing jobs for first time painters and the language barrier. Bob would be proud. This was so touching to watch. Thanks again Bob, for being who you were for inspiring people who would never have given paonting a thought ,without seeing you, your technique, your easy anyone can do it attitude and teaching so many. And most importantly, for bring everyone who seen and will see you, Joy. I hope there's many happy little trees where you're at. ×

I watched Bob Ross as a young kid in the 80s. And yes, he would be so, so honored to know about this vid and these wonderful people. When they said they were afraid of making a mistake, I said, no, there aren't any mistakes, just happy little accidents. When he said he wanted birds, I said, well it's your world, paint birds. Love and miss you, Bob Ross.

They all did such an amazing job. I can't believe that first time painters actually make something that looks like a landscape like that. Very well done. I especially liked the big fella's painting, very impressed.

The lady, Parvati, is quite talented. I wasn't sure at first because her first brush strokes were very unsteady. But she persevered and created a beautiful landscape.

I have tried painting only a few times. Start with something in mind, mess it up, and go full abstract to save it.

This proves that Bob Ross was a great teacher. These people did a great job as they followed his instructions.

They all turned out so great. Interesting to see each person's interpretation. I hope they got to keep their artwork.

Hearing them call him ‘Ustaad’ Bob is so wholesome. Ustaad means teacher

More broadly, “ustad” is closer to “master” and is also typically used to refer to craftsmen/tradesmen. At least in Turkey, it is common for professionals (e.g. mechanics, hairdressers, carpenters) to be referred to as “usta” as a sign of respect/affection, though it can be used to refer to virtually any expert in their respective field. Unlike the subcontinent though, I think the honorific “hoca” (or “hodja”) is a more common form of address for teachers and religious leaders in Turkey.

Im new to art, do you have advice for finding my style or art medium? I have found that I like acrylic ink! So versatile! It could be like paint then you add water and it looks transparent like watercolor!

@@pig_porkchop_7040 just try something , buy a few cheap supplies and give it a shot … when you find a medium you like then get some more fancier supplies and simply have fun … I found my favorite medium was oil based colored pencils

I really want a classically trained painter/artist who speaks Muhharam's language to go to Pakistan and teach him the basics so he can find his own art style. He's clearly an artist at heart, he just needs the supplies and a little help to get there.

I agree that he is an artist at heart. This affected him deeply. It was an emotional release for him. However, Pakistan has plenty of artists and craftsmen. The Taj Mahal was built by Muslim craftsmen, and Mughal paintings were done by them too. Plus with the internet, he can learn methods.

Even though this is an old video, it certainly brings out the admiration that I have for those who found inspiration in the art of Bob Ross. They each had their own interpretation of the original painting and it gave them the ability to express themselves in a different way that they were not accustomed to. The results were fantastic for all of them. I am happy for them. RIP Bob Ross, the immortal artist.

When I ran the after-school art club (before covid!) I ALWAYS told the kids you don’t make mistakes in art, for example, a line you didn’t mean becomes something else in your piece xx

My mother and I watched this and wanted the participants to know we loved their willingness to learn art. To create art is a wonderful thing, a gift to the world :)

This channel and this video, in particular, has been the most genuinely heartwarming and heartbreaking thing I've had the pleasure of seeing in a while. Heartwarming because these people have had the chance to try something that they may not have had a chance to experience due to the cost of materials and the time requirement. Heartbreaking because its an experience that people in my country largely take for granted. I remember loving to paint when I was little, in school, but I was never fortunate to have that creative spark or the ability to paint with skill. But the fact that these people were able to have that opportunity is honestly quite sad. I hope for a day when no-one should have to go without experiencing new things due to lack of money or time.

They all did really well a couple of the paintings were lovely. I do hope they dried well and are now living in their homes with them. Parvati for certain should get to do more painting she really got very absorbed by it towards the end. They got a little help but who wouldn’t need it, painting in oils for the first time.

Mohammed Raiz painted the most beautiful painting! He did such a beautiful job. They all did beautiful paintings especially since this was the first time painting. Keep painting everyone! Two thumbs up for everyone's paintings!!! 👍 👍 🥰❤

She was just cautious and soft, nothing abnormal for a women, always scared to take it a step farther. At the other hand the long beard guy did the best painting in my opinion, even when he started badly and agressive he didn't let it go and didn't say 'F uk It!' like I would, so much respect to them to have patience.

I don't think anyone is laughing. I think every single one of you did a terrific job. Especially doing this for the first time. All of you should be proud of yourself. I grew up watching his shows on the weekends and I believe he would be proud of all of you guys. He's definitely smiling right now. His spirit lives on through his art . Great thing is he will still be sharing his videos for generations into the future.

All of those paintings are beautiful and I truly hope that Bob Ross's children come across this and see that their father is still reaching others and how far his love of painting has truly reached even almost 30 yrs after his passing. RIP Bob Ross, your memory will always live on in the joy others find in your teachings

They're from SOUTH Asia, not South East Asia which is a completely different part of Asia consists of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, etc. But I do agree they likely didn't have the access to certain things. However, the way you word it can come off as arrogant to some because lack of access to creative education is not exclusive to a continent or country, it's anywhere in the world, not just in South Asia, South East Asia or non-western parts of the world.

"Today I have found a purpose". Even after all these years, just like Mr Rogers, Bob Ross continues to inspire many around the world. He was also a very big inspiration for me to start drawing as well. Fun fact, he used to be a drill instructor in the military.

I just found your videos last night & I've kinda been binge watching them. They have made me laugh, cry, & cheer. This was a joy to watch. We grew up watching Bob Ross & I'm tickled that these fine folks have gotten to experience him. They all did a fantastic job of it for their first time painting. I applaud them for having the courage to do this. I also applaud u sir for starting this journey with them & giving them this opportunity of a life time. U have a big heart to do this for these wonderful people who may never have had the chance to do this otherwise. U've helped to restore my faith in humanity. I absolutely adore them & I love the wisdom they bring to the world. I wish I was a wealthy woman because I'd love to bring them to the States for a visit. Especially the lady. I would personally see to it that she had an absolutely fabulous time. I can't speak their language, but I think we could manage to teach each other alot. They would love it here in the south.

As a former painter, it is so beautiful to watch them embrace painting for the first time. They did so well! Bob Ross is a legend.

pfft. former. maybe you did it for a job for a while. I did. maybe you got burned out on it. I did. but, as you know... it never really stops. it just lives on in new forms. sometimes in old forms, but it's been long enough that it can just be a hobby now (thank goodness)

@@domeatown Yeah, I have my BA in it too. I started taking medications to combat mental health and it killed all desire and inspiration (along with the cost of supplies). I have found other creative outlets, but it took about a decade. It's all hobby, but I like it like that. My motivation still struggles. Thank you for your message.

This is cool, they're so apprehentious at first, but everyone loves experiencing trying something new, and accomplishing something artistic, it's really cool to watch!

I grew up in the town where this man filmed, everyone knew of him and his kindness and affection for animals. It was surprising to me to find when I grew up and youtube came about that he was, at that time, a world wide figure. It brings such joy to see his content still spreading. Very cool to see you guys do this, thank you!!

When I saw the big signature of the man who said he found his purpose, I smiled like an idiot! That is so cute! 😂☺️

These paintings were truly amazing. I am overwhelmed by what people can do when they just let go and give it their all. How many more people would be able to do this if they were given the opportunity and encouragement. Loved this video.

This is Bob Ross' dream. To spread the joy of painting to each individual and to allow them to find pleasure and happiness in their life.

this is the most wonderful thing i've seen in so long! i'm an artist, and i was so proud of each of them because they all really let themselves relax and enjoy this new experience, and every painting was genuinely beautiful. years ago my step-mother and i spent a few months making small pieces of art for each other, i'd send her one then she would send me one and so on. i would love to do the same with the far away family i've met here on your channel...i'll go first and send supplies!

This makes me so happy. I learned to paint from watching Bob Ross too and eventually was able to sell my paintings. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️It is lovely to watch them.💗

@@iceseic hajj for person who already went to mecca for pilgrimage. i guess the highest would be sheikh (older person who are an experts, very knowledgeable in the field, very experienced and also teach others)

I love that even though they can't understand a word Ross is saying, they all commented "the way he speaks is so calming." My heart can't take all the wholesomeness that came out of this video. Even squeezed a tear out of me at the end, when the older gentleman said he could start painting as a living. All it really takes is one good experience to spark a passion. :,)

This is one of the best 'following a Bob Ross tutorial' style video I've ever seen. You really put in the effort to try to emulate his method of painting and I love the time you took to explain the different brush strokes and translation for the painters. They all did great and I love seeing their appreciation for Bob Ross' talent and their new love of painting as an art.

I love how you can see the freedom of their expression develop through each layer as they reach the foreground. They relax and take an artistic approach rather than the mechanical one they all started with in the clouds. I'm confident they would have been even more surprised by their skills and paintings, if the paint didn't dry out so fast, Bob Ross teachings rely on wet-on-wet technique.

It wasn't dry, those were oils. I don't know why it looks like that but I had to place them very carefully because everything was wet for further 2 days after they finished the paintings

@@TRYBALS Ah, ok. In that case the paint needed to be thinned with some linseed oil, or bit of paint thinner, so that it flows on the canvas. Paint thinner won't increase the drying time, but linseed oil can make the paint stay wet for a week or more.

@@Violaetor I am not sure if you know this lol, but I am the guy teaching them about brushes and techniques that Bob was using in that video. Sorry for not introducing, I am an artist, I used to paint alot but now I do sculpting but very less because I got into youtube and have got multiple channels running. I still try to take out some time for sculpting but as a therapy kind of thing you know.

Bob Ross was a truegift to the world. Through his one hour show he would paint these amazing painting effortlessly. He brought peace and serenity every where he went. You could not help but to be at peace and happy watching him paint and listening to his calm soothing way of speaking. He was truly an amazing man and will be missed . I grew up watching his shows fro. A child to a man kinda feel like he was an uncle in a way. He taught so much more than painting in his show.i think this world was a better place when he was in it.

I love this so much! They were all beautiful. I especially loved the man who found his “purpose”. He painted some happy little birds. I hope he gets to continue to paint.

I hope someone sends Steve Ross this video. I'm sure his heart will be full with joy seeing his father's legacy continue on even in distant places.

I can practically hear Bob Ross encouraging everyone. I can only imagine how much he'd love to see people on the other side of the planet trying their hand at painting because of his work! 7:09 "You can do it anywhere; it's your own world" PERFECTLY captures Bob's spirit. It's about having fun, not copying a formula or doing things perfectly. I love it.

Each of them had areas of their canvas that I liked better than another. The big Riaz overall had a better total image for me. But that Muharaam guy… his enthusiasm showed more. His painting shows more mistakes because he experimented more. He got excited about the paint.

@@kagandragon this was the first time they held a brush. Lots of random factors will come to play over which result comes out best. In the end the best artist will be the one who adopts and evolves techniques the best and fastest. Many or I'd say most ppl stop at the random outcome of a painting and a few improve and the extreme few evolve and become forerunners.

silly me, thinking there wasn't any possible way Bob Ross could get any more wholesome.

teardrops are literally flowing down from my eyes. i don't quite know why this is so touching, but it is. they really felt Bob Ross's joy, and i feel so proud of them for diving into it. i feel like they shared part of their joy with us.

This brought back a lovely memory of a week-long Bob Ross training I did with my mom years ago. We each painted two canvases each day for a week, side by side with eight other students. After every painting session the instructor took photos of all of us together with our paintings. I still marvel at how we had the same supplies and the same instructions but our unique personalities and perspectives showed in each painting. Thank you for sharing their enthusiasm for this wonderful art form.

Bruh no way these people have never painted before. The paintings turned out so good for FIRST TIMERS. Bob Ross would be very proud. 💖

Agreed, it made me so happy when that man said he wanted to paint more and more. Most if not all of us remember when we first wanted to get into art and his memory will be a very joyful one. (I knew I wanted to pursue art when I was in a fifth-grade math class, I had a notebook out and copied a four-petaled pink flower that was on a poster to the left of the room. From that day on I loved art and even now I will go back to my roots and draw flowers, and as an animal artist, the first really good animals I drew were birds so I also go back to them for comfort.)

Wow! Everyone’s paintings are so impressive! Most importantly, I hope they inspired themselves to keep making art. Please provide everyone with all the supplies needed to continue and access to more bob ross videos so they can continue to improve and learn if they want! ❤️

@@TRYBALS I suggest asking them to paint a local landscape or something from their job/profession/duties that they know. It's usually the next step in any artistic journey to get someone to paint something that they know well. Or ask them to paint something that they love very much. It's hard to lack inspiration or creativity when you're painting something you love.

Without a doubt! I hope that these people realize that Bob wasn't making videos to show off his skill. He was making videos to inspire people, just like them, to pick up a brush and give it a try. He was an educator, just as much as he was an artist. Perhaps more so.

That was amazing. I watched him when I was much younger, about 30-35 years ago, and was amazing. Recently, last year, I watched a lot of Bob Ross shows, maybe a hundred, and was almost about to buy the stuff to do it myself. But I never did. I think I will now. And I want to say, the people in this video did an amazing thing, to create art by painting on the very first try at it. My mother was an artist who went to college to learn about it. I wish I had painted some things with her using Bob Ross's method. Great video, very inspirational and heartwarming.

So much patience and care. Im so impressed. They are so open to trying new things. We all love your "tribal friends". Thank you for your channel and videos!

This made me cry so much - just the fact that most of the world really is comprised of people with passion but no privilege. There are literally people in the world who can't afford to have hobbies, and/or are restricted by their society.

This is great. Imagine if someone set up a place to teach people art in poor communities and then sold the paintings to fund community projects.

There are many such co-ops, such as jewelry making, wood crafts, art of all kinds. There is one in Afghanistan that benefits a girls' school. A school for the blind in Kenya that also makes jewelry to sell in Europe and the USA.

Same hear in Cambodia. You can also do pottery classes run by deaf people and massages given by blind people. Jewelry may by landmine victims. Amazing.

​@@TRYBALS No. That's the problem. All communities have their artforms. And why wouldn't they? Man became supreme because we could record our knowledge and pass it to others. The earliest such form was art. Cavemen painted their adventures, their daily lives and their habitat. Since then, each and every community has their artform. But these traditional artforms of tribals are dying out. Because they are not properly economically viable or ripped off by "big names." What we need is a global initiative to promote such art and it should be led by the members of these communities. The role of government policy should be to enable and empower them. The role of this community should be to give tribal-led ventures outreach and support them in their initial stages. No need to "teach" them new artforms. We should concentrate on preserving and marketing their traditional artforms.

Bob Ross would be so proud to be inspiring people who have never had the opportunity to learn about art, to paint and love what they did.

I just recently came across this channel says ago. I enjoy seeing reactions from people who could be considered strangers. This channel is a blessing. It helps me understand, especially after the last decade or so of strife that World Powers try to create divide. But the truth is...despite some disagreements we all as humanity can find common ground and can see certain gifts or talents with the same clarity. I am hopeful that this channel and also understanding between our peoples will bridge the gap to peace. There is so much I'm learning of how similar we can be. That is key to our mutual survival and prosperity. It's amazing how much we can all agree sometimes. Let's focus on the positive more than the negative. I just hope we can all come together to squash the Elite/corrupt and form a better world for us all

there's a Bob Ross channel on Twitch that marathons episodes of his PBS his show on weekends the community is a bit silly as they respond to the videos as if Bob was a modern live streamer, and a bit like gamers following a pro gamer, but it's still Bob's wholesome and inspiring show, just presented to a new generation

As someone who paints backgrounds (landscapes and such) for a living, I’m so impressed by all of them, but mostly because they seemed to understand by the end of it the joy of painting. Watching this made me so happy. I hope they’ve painted again ever since, especially Muharram!
