Given that he has been quoted saying he dislikes the RRHOF going to induct them meant more to him then his hatred of the institution. He's a class act and always respects fellow musicians even if It means going against or changing his principles.

The way that Trent describes the way the music of The Cure made him feel connected is the way that Nine Inch Nails made me feel as a young man. It was a dark time and Trent's music made me feel like I wasn't alone. Without him I don't know if I ever would have made it through those years. This is a big part of the reason I named my son Trent.

Same, man. Everyone seemed to want me to pretend like everything was okay. Like all that mind meltingly horrible shit hadn’t happened. I really got the message that if I just behaved correctly, I’d feel better. But I couldn’t seem to behave correctly. The adults telling me this were doing exactly what they were telling me not to do, so it made it so confusing, and I hated myself, and I knew something insidious was hurting not just me, but people’s understanding of me. The insidious nature of social acceptance and compliance and faith being a virtue (why??? Why is believing there’s an ultimate king who’s on your side a sign of anything noble? “God is my daddy and he’s going to kick your ass-i.e. cause you to suffer eternally”) I’m not going to lie; I wish I could believe like they do. Like read that their god is a jealous god and gets angry when he’s jealous and not think “Damn that’s an abusive relationship, if that’s god no thanks, but also, it isn’t” They believe whatever makes their life easier instead of what makes it much much harder to cope with Sorry. Holy shit, sorry. Trent is a great name even without context. It just sounds cool.

For me, I'm just happy when great artists get recognition, and I thought that Radiohead and The Cure were both very deserving of it. They're rock bands, but they're not in any way straight-jacketed. All awards that are decided by a small number of "experts" tend to be controversial, and they deserve criticism, be it any of the Nobel prizes, the Booker, the Oscars (especially the Oscars, lol), or this one.

The downside is, despite working out, and eating healthy...the skin on the body loses elasticity so badly. i am 6'3", 175. Lean but i could donate some excess skin...i know, not so pretty. i do not dwell in vanity, and i do get compliments on looks at my age....but i dont go around without a shirt, to be sure! :D

This speech is so classy & professional. A very sharp & spontaneous one that is devoid of millennial ticks that include "I'm like, it's like, they were like, he's like... like, like..." The Cure band is a legend, Trent Reznor is a professional vessel that conveyed pure class speech in inducting the band in the Hall of Fame.

When he says that Robert is so genuine and authentic.... so true. Despite what would initially appear to be a flamboyant, elaborated stage look with big hair and makeup, he just stayed true to his artistic persona from day one, making stage Robert Smith undistinguishable from "real life" Robert Smith. He's just what he is in and out of the show, no pretending, no poses, and certainly not giving a shit what anybody would ever think!

That is the awesomest, most genuine hall of fame speech I've ever heard. The dude loves the Cure and is very fair in his evaluation of the hall of fame. hahaha. But he is so genuine and his speech makes you love the band even more. They intelligently picked Trent for the job. A hero of mine praising another hero of mine. This warms my heart. The dude gets at the heart of what music does for people, THEN explains how The Cure does it excellently.

Long story short, saw Robert Smith in a small Cafe by himself in Hollywood , right before kiss me, kiss me,kiss me, was released in late 1986, I walked up to him shyley introduced myself told him I was big fan of him and his music, he looked at me and said "you got fag?" I looked at him perplexed and said "a fag?" He Replied to me" Aww cack, a cigarette!" I said I only have clove cigarettes, he smiled and said " does it taste good with a pint?". I said " oh yeah it does!!!!" Sat with him for almost 2 hours!! Talking about just life and music. Of the 3 things in my life that always will matter to me,as now iam 53. That was one of them! He signed my 5 dollar bill. To which i have kept in my wallet since 1986!! the cure.. like everyone else, for me, I got through tough times in life. As I would gladly to it over again! Oh, and Robert, as I said back in 1986, you make a impact on people, you may not know it now but later you will see! Thank you for being a you! Was good to meet you again in 1996. Slain'te Mr. Smith and thanks for the decades of your influence to me and ALL your fans worldwide!! You have always been a slice of "just like Heaven" to me!

So true! Like TR, I started listening to them with “Head on the Door” in ‘85. Everyone else was listening to all their bubble-gum pop and spandex/big-hair metal bands. I was definitely an outsider who listened to bands like The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, DM, etc. Actually, I’m still kind of an outsider, still can’t stand today’s top-40 garbage, and I still think Madonna was/is overrated while Aimee Mann didn’t get enough recognition-I guess Aimee didn’t dance around on stage in her bra, so she wasn’t worth recognizing in the ‘80s... but I digress.

Spoken by a man I jammed with on stage in Santa Cruz and a man who he speaks of who honored my late fiancé. It’s a beautiful thing ! Two giants honoring one another! Peace Christo 👽🐕🎶🛸

"It was like this music was written for me. I've struggled my whole life feeling like I don't fit in or belong anywhere... kind of like right now.... and hearing this, suddenly I felt connected and no longer quite so alone in the world." I'm in a retrospective of my teenage life... there's a reason he was practically an idol. It shows even to this day. Goosebumps Trent!
