I don't know how it sounds like acoustically but it sounds like rubber bands with that pickup. Practically unlistenable. This is what an acoustic guitar should sound like: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJemp9OCoMyco8o.html

I spent 45 years years in the cockpit of both airplanes and helicopters until my forced retirement last year at age 62. From the geographic North Pole in ‘88, through to India, Nigeria, KSA, Qatar, Yemen and finally Abu Dhabi in the UAE…..it’s been a great ride…… Treetop Flyer is a greatly appreciated tribute to those highly trained pilots who do things just a bit different than the guys driving at United. Many thanks…….
Tree Top Flyer was my CB handle for several years. As long as I had one back in the 70's I was the Tree Top Flyer! Love me some Stephen Stills!

Many say SS is underrated but I don’t think it is true . He is the best acoustic blues player ever - songwriting , singing and that delicious guitar playing . He was the real deal in his prime days
Been listening to Stills for 50 years (a lot) and he is the best acoustic guitar player I ever heard.

So glad I was there in the beginning. I can almost hear the chopper blades. They saved our classmates, husbands, brothers, and lived to tell about it. Even though they rarely did. Stephen Stills singing about them just makes our day. Yep, they kept flying.
This guy mixes with that guitar like honey and bees. Simply the best.

Ive loved over the years, Stephen's voice, guitar playing and he's handsome to top it off. The whole group have amazing voices. Love Crosby, Stills and Nash. I love bluesy style.
His song is really soulful. It's a real talent and it connects bigtime!
I worked for a NAT Navy company class of 1971 all I can say. But love this song my buddies at the VA played it for me and said. Hey remind me of anybody? And I was in love with the song
When Stephen is locked in he is one of the best.
If I could compose songs and play like Stephen Stills, my life would be complete. Such a talented musician.
The forever underrated Stephen Stills... such a great voice and style of play!! 4+20
Stills still makes me smile and cry...sometimes at the same time
The best version of one of the greatest songs of all time
Listening to this I'm reminded once again how much Stills guitar sound shaped music in the 1970s. This particular song reminds me of the classic CSN&Y album 4 Way Street (although this was released years after that seminal recording) Stephen has a lonely bluesy quality in his playing that draws you in and perfectly compliments his warm earthy vocals.
Stephen Stills talent has never ceased to amaze me !
God such good era of musicians that never stop sounding good to me. Havent heard this one in a very long long time.......steven stills crisp clean sound..wow. Thank you for that.

Goose bumps for me too. I loved it how the crowd came alive to show their appreciation at the end of the song. He's tops.
Stephen Stills has that touch of of gold on his guitar. And that sound of American music so original we forget who comes up with it. Rock on Stephen.
I had an uncle that flew a HUEY in Nam. The family didn't talk about him much but I met him once on a "vacation" up from Florida to Colorado. He showed me the scar in the bottom of his foot that didn't quite make it all the way through the boot. It was 75, I was 12 and never heard from or about him again
This is one of my therapy songs. Day getting aggravating? Turn this on, close your eyes, and just listen. You'll get better.

Me too No Shit straight to the point
Stephen Stills you’re a bloody genius I did give music and I have since the mid-60s
Most of us from our generation, took up playing the guitar because of the influences of CSN&Y or Jackson Browne....it was the California canyon music of the 1960's-70's that got us hooked. I realize that there were many other influences around and folks who were inspired by them likewise, but for our friends it was Stephen Stills and fellow Buffalo Springfield alumnus Neil Young who got us going.
One of the best treetop flyers I ever knew / went up with became the department head of the aviation department at a major university. He started out as a crop duster. He had an old Beechcraft cargo plane, and we’d take people up for a sky diving school and push them out, if they’d get up there and chicken out. That’s how we spent our free time. This was the late 70s, early 80s.
What style this man has. All the fills and solos just blend perfectly together with the melody. A true master!
SO SWEET!!! Heard it the first time around and am loving it just as much now!!! Never grows old! SUPERB!
Tree top Flyer, abandoned at Bowman Field, Louisville, Ky, 1970 something. Seeds and shake through out the plane, pilot met by someone in the dead of night, long-ass gone. We cheered.
Wicked-good guitar playing and a velvet voice = a great, seasoned performer. What a treat!

There are old pilots and bold pilots .. but no old bold pilots ... an old man told me when I asked why didn't have airplanes any more... he use to fly through canyons around his place. Thanks Steven.

It's hard to over state two things. Firstly, how under rated Stephen Stills is. Secondly, and more importantly, how absolutely brilliant he is. His influence on modern music is enormous. Jimi Hendrix apparently said Stephen was his favourite guitarist to jam with. High praise indeed!

After 45 years of hearing him in the background, I started listening to this amazing musician. He has chops like very few, and can make it sound beautiful at the same time, a distinction that can not be understated. "Jimi Hendrix apparently said Stephen was his favorite guitarist to jam with. High praise indeed! " If what you say is accurate, it is like being given knighthood by the King of guitar players.
