What a trip. I was 19, at a party in Newport Beach, then there was a knock on the door, well well it was the police department! I did not smoke pot because I'm allergic to it, but I was drinking alcohol. The police started getting aggressive with all the pot smokers and I backed up through the hallway ran through a bedroom, springboarded off of a bed through an open window, hit the ground, got up and started to walk through the backyard to the front of the house where the police officers surrounded me and asked me if I was at the party. I said I'd like to go to a party, then just walked away down the street to my car, too close for comfort

48 years ago I began playing guitar and singing. It was because I saw Stephen play acoustic guitar and sing. I wanted to, in some small way, to feel the joy he had. I saw him with Manassas and, during his solo acoustic set, he stopped and said," You know, sometimes you just do something so great that you just can't believe it. What I just played was the best I can possibly play.".That sold me on being an entertainer. All these years later I look that as a real turning point in my life.

Oh my... I've read all the comments here and I must say some have some revelency and other's.....well....so very sad. Stephen Stills was an excellent musician & a very good wordsmith. At this point in his life it's obvious there are some health issues which all writing here have experienced and will in their own future. As far as Guitar: Stephen has proven very capable of finding his way around on an acoustic guitar for many years. Very melodic, and economic. His Electric guitar work in the studio has also proven tasty, melodic, balanced and economic also. His live acoustic playing has been pretty much the same as his studio acoustic work for the "Most Part". Electric live work as far as soloing has been on and off depending on his frame of mind. Sometimes uneven..... a bit unorganized but Works within the framework of his CSN & CSN&Y Work. All in all an accomplished Economic, (Less is Best Suits Him Best) Tasty melodic guitarist. When adding Songs such as : "For What It's Worth", "Love The One Your With", "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", "Helplessly Hoping", "Bluebird", "Southern Cross" & a few other's, Stephen Stills has proven to understand how to successfully Write, Sing, Record & Perform commercial pop music.

@@evank6738 about your comment - true

"Nothing More & Nothing Less"!

Still is light years beyond Clapton as a musician and songwriter.....
The problem unfortunately is…Stephen will inevitably be compared with, among others, Neil as well as Eric, Jimi, Jeff, (the other) Jimmy, etc. The reason the musical chemistry was so tight between Stills and Young is because their styles complemented each other, even if it sounded at times like it was competition.
