  • @hartleyhare251

Isn't it amazing how people like to continue bemoaning a player just because it's become 'trendy', that the media has gotten hold of something and people like this chap run with it. Instead of looking at why the team played the way they did, they like to think they are understanding the game and the structure of the team - when in fact they are merely troping that which is said by the media. We struggled because it's what this set-up is designed to do. It's what the manager seems to get out of the England team(s) in each tournament he's been in charge of. Bad or good. We score, then invite teams to come onto us. People bemoan Trent - 1 error. Yet we don't bemoan Foden - we just say he's out of position. Or we think Trent can't defend because he has a dodgy period, which by the way he has more than made up for and come back very strong for Liverpool. we don't comment on Stones or Walker being utterly lethargic or incapable of moving upfield and thereby leaving Trippier to do all the work, and for Trent and Bellingham to have to keep coming back. We are not playing to our strengths. Foden was terrible, passing, control, all let him down last night. Stones made some key errors, as did Rice. But hey, let's continue to bemoan Trent - who is easily the most gifted player in the team alongside Bellingham. And he actually had a fair game. He was better than most last night. The defence was not moving up. The midfield had to defend too much. Foden struggled - again. Move the defence up, be a little more daring and Foden will spring into life. Trent is the ONLY team member who can spray the ball around at speed and put in the crosses. We may have other players, Mainoo for example, but he's untested even domestically, let alone internationally. We have no other experienced players. Trent has played against the world's best and performed brilliantly for his club, and week in, week out has been exceptional for a few years now. Bellingham, as good as he is, tires. And after 65 minutes was invisible. So, we kept Foden and Kane on????? Seriously.

Even as a Liverpool fan he really should be used as back up for England. The thing about him is he lacks focus and concentration, the Vini goal in the CL final was all him, great going forward (at times) but lapses in concentration (as was the CL final) proved he's flaky at the best of times. I really thought he'd kick on after 2019 but tbh his off the field endorsements and simply expecting to start has made me him arrogant. Next year Bradley should be starting more or less every game. TAA needs to get his mind right and start getting it together or he'll find his best years 26-30 will simply pass him by

  • @Sobbayi

Are you talking about past games or last nights game???? Last night he was not at fault. That's the problem with England, you rely on history. Last night where was Kane when Saka crossed twice into the box. Foden was a mess, Second half Saka did not complete a single dribble, Rice had two misplaced passes in the second half.... I could go on and on. You will replace TAA and still get overrun in the midfield. The problem with this team is they spend too much time doing stuff for social media instead of getting focused on the tournament footballwise

This game needed pace down both wings. Not ball playing midfielders like Foden or Trent who plays the whole game in front of their defence. Foden suits City's style of play, where he has pockets of space to run in to and runners in behind, but he won't do it in an England shirt. It should have been Gordon or Eze down the left so when Kane inevitably drops deep he has runners in behind.

Football is a teams games and players need to make sacrifices, like making a run in behind knowing they won’t get the ball but it will create space for others. This is from an outsider who is also a Premier League fan: 1. England are neither the worst nor the best team at the tournament but they need to play as a team and not hope for individuals to do something positive. 2. England are favorites for the tournament only in England. I rate backing the team but the media and the pundits are doing way too much and it's all going to end one way. There will be a scapegoat to pile on after getting knocked out. 3. Jude Bellingham is your best player. I get the criticism from someone who is English but as a South African watching your team, he was miles ahead from other players. 4. When South Africa won the rugby World Cup, it did not matter who the player was and what they have achieved, even our captain Siya Kolisi was dropped as some point because he got too big for his boots. Southgate hasn't shown that he can do that with this team otherwise Trent, Trippier, Kane and Foden would have come off sooner than they did.

If Southgate is smart, he’d start Palmer on the 10 and push Bellingham to the 8, Palmer is better in close spaces and more creative in that position. Ppl forget only Mbappe, Kane and Haaland were the ones to have more g/a than him in Europe last season…and Palmer didn’t have Europe!!!! Eze, Mainoo and Watkins need to be the first names coming off the bench every single time…but Brexit ball will be the end of England and I will laugh🤣

Trent should be dropped for Warton. You either risk A double 10 with Foden and Jude to let Gordon on. or just bring in Warton. Also Saka is by far the most superior RW in England, only Solly March and Bowen comes close. Foden is great at the centre but at that left he need a good midfielder beside him.

Southgate is England's most successful manager since 1966. However he has had England's best players since 1966. I cannot help feeling he is not using the players at England's disposal as affectively as a world class manager could. Trent is not a midfielder, yet and he seems to continue picking players out of position in multiple areas.

Trent was one of the best performers for England, one mistake and suddenly the rest of his performance gets ignored. Very weird how he’s being singled out and getting all the criticism even though players like Kane & Foden were nonexistent. I’d much rather listen to Rice & Bellingham saying they want to play besides Trent, than listen to people who don’t know what they’re on about.
