I was lucky enough to watch Spain live for the first time in my life when they samshed Georgia 4-1. absolutely brilliant and for sure the best team in the tournament, England had no chance and as always are just overhyped and overrated

As a fan of the game, im glad that Spain won. I could watch them play for hours, but get bored after watching england for 5 minutes. Intelligent and full of nous, throughout the entire team. They had to sub arguably their best player but still continued in the same vein.

@@jimreilly6933they work as an unit and they been playing together for a while. On top of that Spanish players play this type of football from a very young age it’s part of their football culture. High press with multiple players on the ball at all times. Their wingers are super fast and skilful and Morata does such an important job. He creates so much space for the wingers.

@@andrecardoso6941 Very well said. When I studied in Spain I played for a team there, and could see the same style of play amongst all of the teams (A team, B team, U-15s, women's team), it was quite incredible to witness first hand.

England had the easiest group, should have lost to Slovakia, needed penalties to beat Switzerland and were awarded an absurd penalty against the Netherlands. They did not play well for more than 45 mins in any game. They have come up against 4 sides that, on paper, are equal or better than them and lost all 4: Croatia ,Italy France ,Spain New management needed.

Let's add to that that en route to those games they also didn't even beat the easy draw teams convincingly. They needed pks to beat Colombia. A last minute goal to beat Tunisia. A last minute goal to tie Slovakia. Pks versus Switzerland. Extra time versus denmark. Couldn't beat Slovenia or denamrk again . Needed a last minute goal and a fake penalty versus netherlands.

Although im from the Netherlands, I agree. That penalty was the dumbest thing ever. They made a good 2-1 goal for sure, but goddamn that win was not deserved.

I don't know why the English overanalyze this. Spain was a better team. Period. England was extremely lucky to even be at the final. They've encountered teams that were mediocre at best, and had a tough time beating them ( last minute goals, penalties, extra time etc). This was not a euro wining team.

You're being slightly polemic for me. England's depth is a disadvantage. Spain does NOT have tons of quality teams or competition over 4 divisions. Spain is better prepared because smaller clubs populate La Liga. By smaller I mean, less fans, smaller stadiums, less finance etc. This HELPS the top Spanish teams rest, buy the best players etc etc

I watched all the England games. Kane was poor throughtout the whole tournament so was bellingham and saka and foden. These guys score goals every weekend at club level but at national.level they seem to turn into zombies. Spain has shown you don't need big stars to win, you need players who play as one and only have one goal is to go out there win. England team don't play as one but as individuals.

England should not have reached the finals against the teams they faced. Slovakia, Switzerland, and the Netherlands all played better than them in this tournament, they just didn’t have the extreme luck that England had with all the last minute goals and favourable referee decisions.

Real Madrid and Barça are institutes by themselves and the entire make up of la Liga and the philosophy is way better. But with clubs like Aston Villa or West Ham being able to outspend Atletico, its hard to remain competitive in the long term.

lets not pretend England had a better squad. Spanish players are simply undervalued/underrated. Anyways England has been poor since 2018 and they mostly lucked into getting far in tourneys. Southgate's record vs "top" countries 7 wins out of 27 matches, with most of these being friendlies or these countries being already poor at said tourney.

Yes, they play defensively (they are professional players and do as directed) and yes they got lucky. But what of France, Portugal, Germany and The Netherlands? Cuz Spain has a lot more quality depth than a lot of people who only watches the Prem seems to realise. Nobody who follows La Liga is surprised to see Zubimendi replace Rodri that well btw he’s an absolute class baller for La Real week in and week out for them btw. It’s this kind of arrogant attitude towards other leagues and players in them which is the reason why England will never win anything unless this changes. You have to have respect for your opponents and do your homework before the game and England and English clubs aren’t the best at this whatsoever.
